I watched a few GSW games.
Al is basically just a bigger Sam Hauser now.
He's just too old.

If the C's don't go all in on a guy like JJJ or Zubac, I'm up for sending a smaller expiring or two to Brooklyn for Sharpe and keep the Anfhauser dream alive. He fits into the TPE. I think we have to use it or lose it this year?
But, although Sharpe gets brought up a lot here, and there are teams interested in getting him (prolly a move across the city to Knicks is most likely), I don't see much evidence that Brooklyn wants to move off him. He may be turning into a more premium asset than we think.

White/Pritchard

Tatum/Walsh/Tillman
Queta/Missi/Garza
imo, still need a 3rd PG.
Of rather make this a smaller deal for just Missi.
We really have no need for Murphy.
He is an asset though. Amd a 2 way 20ppg scorer.
White/brown/murphy/tatum is a pretty OP lineup

I think if there is a good deal, Brad Stevens won't hesitate to move Simons. I think the only thing that has changed from the beginning of the season is now it's going to take a good deal and the Celtics are not just going to move him for the sake of moving him.
Exactly the same thought, the idea he can play point in real competition is way off. Literally the whole team passing fell apart at that point because they were so back on their heels.
I'm fine if they keep him once JT returns as he can play his best role, just be available to be a finisher on catch and shoot once Tatum draws all the attention. If all the attention is on Simons it's a mess and he brings so little else he needs to just be a play finisher guy to give people a break.bfchs123 wrote:Tillman and Boucher for Big Al?
Had to make a quick check looks like Al has come around after an awful start to the season. Ok the return of Big Al campaign has been officially started!
Definitely agree, I've been disappointed with Simons at point / ballhandling in general. He's started to learn his spots to attack, and he did have some good pnr with Luka and the pocket pass, but he can't handle the backcourt pressure very well, and we either just haven't let him run the team or it's not there. I lean towards the latter, and it's moot cuz the former's not changing. He's picking it up on D, but it'll never be a strength. He's kinda at the best case I thought in the summer for him, but it's still not quite enough for me to commit significant resources long term.
I'm torn on if JT back helps or hurts, tbh. We put Simons in a corner enough as is with just Pritchard, White and JB. With another high usage scorer out there, sure the looks might be easier, but they'll be even less of them. That's when I start thinking Hauser's enough, and get me another ballhandling, defensive guard to fill out the guard rotation. I really like the Sion idea you had, I was big on A Black this summer as well. Something like Sion in this draft, RHJ up from Maine, etc. That's enough with how Pritch, White and how much the Jays handle, imo.

No surprise here, but Zach Lowe says that the rumblings around the league are that the Celtics will 100% be buyers at the deadline.
Didn't name any names, him and Kirk Goldsberry spitballed Gafford but that was speculation. I tried to tell you guys about Brad, he doesn't sit on his hands

The question is how much will the buyer spend?
If the Pistons game yesterday was to be the basis for what the Celtics are lacking, it's definitely another big with a big body.
Duren was just a beast and it didn't help that Beef Stew got his way when he was switched on to our lamb chops defenders.
That's why guys like Gafford and Zubac get mentioned as trade targets for the Cs.
The Cs need big bodies.
Claxton is a very good player, but his thin frame might not be the answer to what the Cs need.
I like Zubac, but I don't think he's available.
Gafford is good enough, but it would cost Simons or Hauser.
Sharpe is really the ideal.
If Brad does something wild, like JJJ, that would really make the Cs one of the best defensive units in the NBA.
This trade deadline could open the championship window wide open for this season and the next couple of seasons.
So trust Brad, I guess.

Via Celtics Reddit... Zach Lowe on his show today: "All the rumblings around the league are that Boston is going to buy at the deadline." He said he had no idea for who.
I'd be surprised if the Celtics get past Feb 5 without acquiring another center.

I'm predicting they acquire 5-7 centers.

5'-7" is, like, Spud Webb height. I hope they get a guy at least 6'9".

What do people think about Wendell Carter Jr?

As long as it's not a 5'7" center.
Brad Stevens will probably trade for a center that has never been mentioned in the trade thread which would be quite a feat.

WCJ and Gafford were my summer obsessions with first Jrue, then Simons deals. I still fully support either. Neither is super durable, but not full on injury prone either. Both go up next year, but reasonable extensions. Both are hard to trade for cuz their teams use them so it’s gonna cost an asset or 2, and both are tight on aprons. Pretty much always need to pay a 3rd team to eat salary.

I was high on Gafford before the season started, but I think he's a little overpaid for what he's producing this season.
But Gafford would still be better than Garza.

Horford lite, but worry about his production when his 3 isn't falling.
So desperately wanted to get him while he was on his old descending contract, but his extension isn't too bad (3/58 w/ a team option). Still would be a target of mine but don't think the Magic will be selling and don't want to pay a premium to peel him away.

I like Minott, particularly his active hands on defense. I'm disappointed that he fell out of the rotation nd then got hurt. But even so, he's more valuable than that.
