http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/olympics-2016/team-usa-superstar-paul-george-brands-boomers-dirty-team-after-hardfought-rio-olympics-thriller/news-story/6ea4fcff461cbbc289600c4f3acdb09c

TEAM USA star Paul George said the Boomers lived up to expectation that they’d be a “dirty” opponent when his team ground out a tough win in a brutal battle at the Olympics.

“We knew we were going to get their best,” George said. “It was an adjustment for us. The game kind of got ut f hand early with the physical play.

“We knew that coming in - this team has a knack for being a little dirty.”

George said the US team rose to the physical challenge after emerging from halftime.

“I thought the second half we did a good job of just matching them,” he said.

“We were doing the same stuff they were doing and we got hacked for it. We’re fine playing physical, that’s our game in the NBA, but if they going to allow us to play that way they got to play it both ways.”

Boomers legend and now assistant coach Luc Longley fired back in response: “Tell ‘em that’s international basketball.’’

Your salty tears are delicious Paul George, you are physically stronger in every way and yet you struggle to match it with Australia?
Come on man.

Would have been nice to knock off the US. Oh well, I guess they will just have to do it in the gold medal game.

Best play was Bogut clotheslining KD to the floor. I yelped like a little girl when he did that. And near the end when Ingles knocked KD over the sideline...you could see Longley smiling lovin it. Good to see the Boomers bring it physically like that.

I went and saw the USA and Australian men's and women's teams play a "warm up" game in Melbourne just before the Sydney Olympics in 2000. Vince Carter and Andrew Gaze got in a little scuffle and fell to the floor, Shane Heal came and got involved and things got a little heated. Andrew Gaze in Melbourne was like Larry Bird in Boston so roughing him a little didn't go down too well and the crowd started booing Carter every time he touched the ball, it was great. I think the US team was still used to being treated like stars and had never encountered a team (and a crowd) that didn't care about reputation and we're happy to mix it up.

I think gaze is the second all time points scorer after some Argentinian bloke called Oscar. Anyways, what a great morning! Pity I had to work, but grabbed as much screen time as possible and loved every minute of it. Nice to see the rest of the world catching up to US glamour ball........ :D
BANG!................. Marjong!

Watching this Brazil v Croatia game. My nene grudge/bias is being confirmed. Nene is garbage. So soft and making dumb mistakes. He's gotta be in my top 5 least favorite players in the league. He annoys me so much. His game sucks.

I agree. Could never understand how such a physically imposing guy like himself couldn't average at least 8 rpg.

Just went over to NBA.COM and leaguepass premium costs 55$ !?

It says best value but why is it so cheap ? Is it only for the remainder of the 2015-16 calendar year or is it for the upcoming season ?

I'm pretty sure they haven't yet updated LP for new NBA season and that by buying it, you'd get nothing since all of it already passed.

Yeah that makes sense, was too good to be true.

This Olympic game is a snooze fest. US won this already in the first 3 minutes.

Tbh, team USA plays one of the most boring, uninspiring, non-team basketball ever... ISO **** fest. When they gonna finally pick some off-ball players instead of just all-stars? Like Bradley for example. ZERO ball movement. Why they even need a coach? I don't even see any decent plays on offense being initiated.

edit:

Wth is this garbage? Force feeding Boogie, Durant initiating offense when he doesn't even know how to do it... He's no LeBron :banghead: I want to see some good USA basketball but instead i have to watch this.

Jokic can flat out ball. Can see why Denver fans love him.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Ginobili and Nocioni look like serious, focused grown men. Their coach looks like 5 minutes ago he had an afternoon nookie with a telenovela starlet.
