LaVar Bell is at it again. Seems to be a little worried the celtics may take his Lonzo. I mean I know what he is doing but this is also the same guy that says his son better than Steph Curry.

The outspoken Ball father even encouraged the Boston Celtics, who won the draft lottery held Tuesday night, to use the No. 1 pick on Markelle Fultz, who he the dubbed, "the best player."

"Discourage them? Yes. I hope the Celtics don't take Lonzo. Markelle Fultz is the perfect pick for them. He's the best player. Take him," LaVar said Wednesday morning on "Undisputed.""I hope the Celtics don't take Lonzo. Markelle Fultz is the perfect pick for them. He's the best player. Take him." — @Lavarbigballer pic.twitter.com/KHCspnD6wq

Man, part of me really hopes that Ball isn't LA's pick and he slips to Philly just to see LaVar's reaction.

Did you check my math in the trade post mortem thread about sign and trades for both Hayward and Blake?

I'd love that but there is no chance he slips past the Lakers. Hell, Lakers would have taken him first so I think Fultz wold have ended up on the celtics even if they got the second pick.

Math seems ok. The challenge is that some of the rookies who are signing have restrictions on how quickly you can trade them after signing them. Not the end of the world, but something to work around.

Just watched that. lmao. This guy is a joke. I hate LA so Lonzo ending up there will make it easier for us to want him to bust and see that family and brand go down in flames, but I really wish that LA stayed loyal to Russ and picked Jackson with the 2nd pick. I feel bad for hating on this dude due to his father but my godness, there's just no way. The guy is just trash. Life needs to dish this guy a humble pie..

My guess too. I also don't want the 76ers to get too much elite young talent. Anyone can criticize "the process" all they want but:

Embiid
Simmons
Saric
Covington
Holmes
Okafor

that's nothing to sneeze at. If Monk really impresses, I think he's a slam dunk pick for that team if they want Simmons truly running PG.

They should take Jackson.

Simmons/McConnell
Bayless/Korkmaz/Stauskas
Jackson/Luwawu/Anderson
Saric/Holmes
Embiid/Okafor

They have an unprotected Lakers 1st and their own next year, plus an unprotected Kings 1st and their own in 2019.

That's pretty nice.

I was thinking for shooting purposes, but really, whoever they add is just going to be another strong addition to a terrific young core.

You don't think they might get Lowry though?

Lowry
Jackson
Simmons
Saric
Embiid

That's pretty nasty. They can offer some of those picks + Okafor and Luwawu for Butler maybe? Start Lowry, Butler, Simmons, Saric and Embiid with Jackson or maybe Tatum off the bench. They are right there with us in terms of how many path's they can take to build a major squad. Only concern over there has to be the health of Embiid going forward.

If they got a real shooting guard that team would size-wise be absolutely massive.

I was actually thinking that. Not sure if Lowry fits the 76ers plans but it could be an interesting move for them if they were ready to commit to winning rather than just accumulating assets.

I'm hoping the Lakers don't pick him and it messes with other teams plans leading him to fall to #7 where he can enjoy the warm Minnesota sunshine and where he fails to get playing time ahead of either LaVine or Rubio.

I don't see how Alonzo Ball and DeMarcus Russell play together. I think Josh Jackson is a natural fit and I believe will be a better player too. I guess Ball Fultz rivalry is sexier than Jaylen Josh would be.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

I agree that probably has to do with it - the #1 pick went to the team in the lottery that needed it least. But it looks like GM's were also unhappy about the Lakers getting to keep their pick:

Read on Twitter

I imagine that GM's around the league are afraid of the Lakers getting good again, because LA is always a hot free agency destination, and the Lakers losing their pick would have prolonged this period where max free agents have been re-signing with their own teams or going to less classically attractive free agency destinations like Golden State, Boston, and Cleveland.
