Herro may turn out to be a steal and turn into a Booker type player.
Carsen Edwards is another guy that I want us to get. Loved what he did in the tourney if anyone watched. Straight pitbull like Van Fleet.
Also, I believe Edwards broke Curry’s record on most 3s made in the tournament. People are sleeping on this guy.

He can't dribble and has terrible vision, and brings minimal rim protection. He's the classic guy who looks the part but not a contributor at the next level.
That’s a fair take - I think he has a good chance to keep improving, but - he has zero buzz right now. As far as looking the part, though - his midrange game looks really really good to my eye - not just his shot but his pivot, footwork and creativity. Reminds me of a taller, longer Pierce.
I don’t see how that’s a good take on Hachimura. This guy has size, strength, and quickness to be an NBA big - he’s strong enough and more right now. He defends really well and rebounds. He’s not a good passer, but has a lot of positives on offense, beginning with his ability to score late in the shot clock. Good stroke, strength, defensive attitude, athleticism, has played on winning teams - what’s not to like? And we need a 4.
I said it was a fair take - it’s not mine, and I think it underestimates his midrange scoring ability substantially. But the other observations are true right now.
I give him the benefit of the doubt on future court awareness and offensive IQ, plus meeting the thresholds to guard 3’s and play on the perimeter eventually. Skipping the combine hurts a little, because it would be great to have lane agility measurements, and you hope they’re not hiding him.. And with his plus wingspan he isn’t a great rebounder - he’s not Elton Brand..
I think his floor is early TJ Warren, a small forward who can’t shoot from the perimeter or play defense but can defend. Warren has added a 3point shot but doesn’t defend yet

I’d be careful not to overhype athletically limited dudes because we relate to them (or because they’re white) - I’d be surprised if Herro becomes more than a bench three point specialist. He seems high floor/low ceiling. Dylan Windler is much more interesting. And Keldon Johnson is low floor/high ceiling, like Langford.

You kind of have to have expectations do be a bust. Ponds is one of those guys whose game will either translate or it won't. I expect he has a 25% success rate a this point and would want to avoid that in the first round of a draft but in this draft I think PG's are going to be over valued.

Herro is a taller JJ Reddick. Catch and shoot guy.
I like Carsen too, most of the mocks have him early in the second round. Average defender, very athletic for his size, can shoot from everywhere, decent passer.
If we keep Rozier, wouldn't mind having Carsen has a backup.

That's not really ideal if we end up matching Rozier. Carsen is a baller, but his playmaking is really lacking. It's either Rozier or Edwards, but both would be a disaster if we are realy focusing on developing and giving shots to the Js.
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

Re: 2019 NBA draft
IMO These two drafts would be perfect draft for the Celtics. My selections based on offensive style and the skill they need.
1st
14th ---Tyler Herro--- Pure SHOOTER
20th --- Goga Bitadze --- Big that can SHOOT.
22nd --- Carsen Edwards --- He can do it all. Man can he, PLAY THE GAME. and he can SHOOT
51 --- Chuma Okeke --- Can only prey he there at 51.
2nd
14th --- Goga Bitadze
20th --- Ty Jerome ---- great overall player that has many tools and he can SHOOT
22nd ---Carsen Edwards
51--- Chuma Okeke

Oh I agree. But we don't have a lot of options right now. I'd love to bring Rondo back, but I guess he wants to play for a contender.
Or maybe we could sign Rubio and have Carsen as a backup.

Don't get me wrong. I'd love Edwards as a pick up if we had another playmaker point in the team. But I feel maybe 22 is quite high for him so if Ainge knows how to play mind games in draft night, I'd trade back and grab a future 2nd rounder in the way. Although if I know this needs to be the strategy of everyone on draft night given the poll of players in this years draft, so will every front office in the league, so I doubt anyone is willing to move from say 29 to 22.

Re: 2019 NBA draft
Kyrie leaving and AD to the Lakers should change our draft strat. We no longer trade picks for future picks. Or for vets.
We keep all picks and no longer draft a few ready now players. We should be drafting 19-20 year olds tops. Develope and hope to hit on at least 1.
Some high floor low ceiling senior isn't going to be worth it to play along with JT/JB.

Maybe its the team he plays with. He was a one man show in college because he had to.

Carsen Edwards looks very good to me. Of course, I'm a sucker for highlight videos.

No, it's not the team he plays with at all. Yeah, they suck. But Carsen needs to improve a lot his offensive awareness, as well as how natural he looks playmaking for others. Seriously, if you haven't been on this thread one week before the draft, think twice before you post. Watching a 10 minute highlight video is not scouting. I mean this with all the love in my heart.
But let's try to keep this thread clean of overractions. It will gain track a lot now that AD is not an option and we'll probably be drafting for ourselves, so a lot of posters should gain lots of knowledge by reading the thread. Not saying I am a draft expert or anything, but let's keep the quality of the thread high please.

You are right. He is not playing for others, kind of selfish sometimes. Too bad since he can be a good passer. If he can work on his vision and awarness, watch out.

Yeah, something on the lines of:
14 - Doumbouya/ Herro/ Bitadze
20 - Herro / Fernando
22 - Edwards
Would be a good way of drafting upside+plug&play and covering some of our team needs.

Bohemian wrote:I am not an expert in the draft, but we should get a shooter and a power forward. Tyler Herro at #14? I don´t know about the PF. Clarke and Claxton seem too thin for the position
They are a bit thin but I think they both have the frame to put more on and still be effective at what they do. And they both do a lot of things well.
Clarke converted at 70% from 2 pt range. He's a quick twitch athlete. Brad loves those types. He's switchy as hell. He'll be able to switch 2-4 walking in the door and as he gets older and adds strength, the 5 as well. Not sure if he'll ever be a good 3-point shooter but I expect that he'll increase his range as he gets older.
Claxton is long as hell and when you watch his tape you already see shades of Horford and what he does here with us. The comparison basically slaps you across the face it's so obvious. Claxton's shooting numbers were that great but I wonder if some of that was just learning a new system since Crean wasn't there the year before.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

Look at Claxton's legs. - can you name a single NBA big who entered the league that spindly and managed to stick around?
