I have issues with Jaylen's decision making on the floor at times and after we were bounced by Miami thought we should trade him due to the financial implications of giving him the supermax. After more information and consideration I think his contract was the correct decision for reasons that have been covered here ad nauseam.

After seeing all this bull about him "not being smart" and the racist nonsense I'm rooting for him harder than ever. If you remember where he started from as a rookie it's obvious how much work he puts into his game and if you don't know by now how smart he is you're just hating. I don't know if we have some of the most hateful fans in the country or not but it certainly feels that way. Pretty soon we'll be booing Santa Claus like our buddies to the south. I sometimes find his game frustrating but can still admire him as a player and a person, he works hard and is at least trying to use his platform to make lives better.

Jaylen isn’t basketball smart and that’s all that really matters and that’s all I care about. As for so-called “racist” things being said about him? Give me a break. Everything is racist nowadays to some people. It’s ridiculous and a sure sign of a low-information, easily manipulated person to think it. Hell I'm Jewish, I have more stake than most of you about what Jaylen said about Kyrie back in November. To be honest, I rolled my eyes at what he said but I didn't think much about it. Personally, I've experienced Anti-Semitism worse than what Kyrie did with that movie link (I grew up in a town that has so many Jewish people that we get pennies thrown at our teams in sports) so it wasn't the big deal it was to me that it was to others. Like it stinks, but it's EXTREMELY common in this country.

Second, what he said about Boston fans and casual racism/hostility is true in a lot of ways sadly. It doesn't mean he's personally attacking anybody, or even that he hates the city, but there's a history of it. It's sad, but it is what it is.

The people that are turning his supermax into an attack on his personal character and not his basketball ability are pretty ridiculous. If you question his supermax, it's because he turns it over so much or falls asleep on defense, it's not really about his personality (unless he goes and does something to get himself suspended for that).

Is he perfect as a person? Definitely not. But I do think he's done a ton of good in this community, the Bridge program thing he does being one thing.

Jaylen may not be the GOAT like Tom Brady. Howver, he has the richest contract in the history of his league which is something Tom Brady could never claim. This contract is for as much money as Brady made in his entire NFL career….and fully guaranteed. So …… do you really think Jaylen isn’t basketball smart?

I 100% agree.

But I will say this. People here were mocked for saying the Durant rumor was not true. They were mocked for saying they did not believe JB wanted to ditch Boston. I too was laughed at for saying that JB would make all NBA and make those concerns moot. During this summer there were many here who insisted the delay in max contract signing meant that JB hated Boston or that the Celtics were trying to trade him for Lillard.

Well I just want to take this opportunity to enjoy the big FU to those JB haters that Brad and Wyc have given them with this signing. Some of those posters actually prefer to be on the outside looking in and are now rooting for the Cs to fail because their egos can’t take the fact that they were 100% wrong. The ownership, the GMs, the teammates and 95% of the real fans have always been in JB’s corner.

With Haslem retirement, Smart trade, and Lillard trade, Jaylen will now move into top 10 of active players who have spent their entire career on a single team behind Curry (14), Draymond (11), Klay (10), Giannis (10), Jokic (8), Towns (8), Booker (8), and Myles Turner (8).

Ironically we should probably be rooting for the cap to raise the max amount; yes it would mean paying Jaylen 304 instead of 292-295 mil but if the cap rises 10% instead of 5% it’s only a 2 mil ish increase for Jaylen’s first year but it would increase the 2nd apron by 9 ish mil. So that just gives a little more room to get under the 2nd apron and not start the clock there. We’ll be in it regardless when Tatum’s extension hits if brown isn’t traded by then so by ducking it in the coming off-season; would raise the likelihood of our willingness to be in it for a year or maybe 2 later to prolong the window
