Smart, Jae or Avery? One of them has to go. There's an argument for each one of them. This is an interesting decision.

Crowder has the most trade value, but he can play small ball 4 AND is on an amazing deal for the next three years. That's crucial when you're paying a lot of $ to so many guys. I would not trade him, unless he's being emo about Hayward's signing. Love Jae but he can be a little bit sensitive.

I think trading Smart makes the most sense if you're trying to be as good as you can be next season. Bradley's shooting is much more valuable to this team than Smart's defensive versatility - and I'm a HUGE fan of Marcus.

Trading Bradley makes sense if we're looking at the long term salary and luxury tax implications going forward. This off-season, it's really hard for average starters to get huge deals, especially RFAs. There isn't that much cap space available.

Next year is going to be even tighter. Half the league is close to the tax. I think Smart's next deal is going to be reasonable - somewhere in the $9-12m a year range. Bradley, as an UFA, will probably be in the $18-20m a year range.

I'm torn. It really sucks that salary cap is $3-4m lower than early projections. Trading Smart is probably the most reasonable thing to do, even though return will not be that much - late 1st or couple of 2nds.

But as the 'Marcus Smart island' resident, I would trade Bradley, start Hayward and Brown at the 2/3 spot and go from there.

What do you guys think? Who's gone?

Here is the place to go for existing trade exceptions. These are the teams we can trade guys to w/o taking any salary back from them, even if they are over the cap. Several options foe Marcus, a couple for Jae. None for AB.

I'm one of the biggest Smart fans on the forum so I would hate seeing him go. HIs defense is just plain awesome at times and his toughness and heart are immeasurable. It may be wishful thinking, but I believe his offense will be much better this season. I'd much prefer either Bradley or Crowder be the one we ship out. I was thinking Crowder, but unless we add a couple of worthies to play the 4/5, his ability to play some at the 4 (along with the contract) might make him more valuable right now than Bradley.

We don't need to "dump" anyone. We should get decent value for either one of Bradley, Smart or Crowder.

Many teams weren't able to cash in during free agency and the aforementioned players are on nice friendly contracts AND they good players and locker room guys.

All Danny has to do is find the best deal.

that takes away cap space needed to sign Hayward.

Crowder, Bradley, D. Jackson for dieng and a 2021 Minny first is more like it IMO. we have 3 2018 FRPs as is.

U may have to add Mickey to get a full 3+ mil free .. done.. we sending the jet..

pretty wild. 6 months ago I would have said no dice...Now different circumstances. Minny would be a force with that team. I have a feeling Ainge will be stingier than I though :)

I do to... but then all these years of work and now u finally signed a stud.. I feel that changes the music a lil. Plus it isn't as u selling low on these players.. u getting decent value.. not dumping like a lot of teams, which we know ainge would never do

We got a fire sale on good assets going on. Bradley, Crowder, Smart. Would like to keep all 3, but what you gonna do?

Brad loves all three too.

Bradley and Marcus have value when we go up against the warriors in the finals. Brown will be better than crowder soon. Cya jae

Posted this in Minny trade thread. Do you guys think this is a great 3 way?

Minny: Aldrich, OKC 1st for Bradley
Bulls: Lopez for Aldrich, Mickey and Jackson OKC 1st.
Boston: Bradley, Jackson and Mickey for Lopez

Minny gets a low usage shooter that can score some and great defender that can play some point guard and give trouble to CP3, Curry, Westbrook, Parker. Some concerns on extension moving forward but that maybe agreed now.

Bulls Save money and give playing time to younger players. Pick too.

Boston get their Center or back up Center.

PG - IT / Smart / Rozier
SG - Brown / Smart
SF - Hayward / Tatum
PF - Crowder / Horford / Tatum
C - Horford / Lopez / Zizic

That deal adds like 4-5 m in salaries. We need to cut 3m just to sign Hayward. Makes no sense.

The only way this deal gets done is if we add one of Jaylen or Jayson, or we trade Horford, which doesn't seem like an option. Otherwise, I don't see how this would be an option.

Celtics get Marc Gasol

Griz get Avery and Kanter and a first

Thunder get Marcus and Crowder

That's a pretty good idea, but that would mean we would have to first open up the space the sign Hayward by getting rid of a few players.

IT/Brown/Hayward/Horford/Gasol would be a very nice starting five. The bench would be Tatum/Semi/Nader/Zizic/Green. Leaves a lot of work to be done to sure up the bench.

1. Trade away Avery Bradley for a future pick.
2. Sign Gordon Hayward.
3. Sign Ersan Ilyasova for remaining cap space.
4. Enjoy.

So the Thunder are giving up just Kanter for Smart and Crowder? When do they get arrested for theft?
