That’s crazy. Marcus really is made of something different. I thought he was **** for sure but it’s thankfully just a grade 1 strain.

Phew. Most sites say 1-3 week recovery time for Grade 1 calf strain. Here’s one such link:

Hopefully we get Pritchard back in the meantime.
We're down 2 good Combo Guards.

We're going to have to rely on Teague, and whomever comes after that.
My vote is for Waters to fill in, as a pure PG. Though, Edwards and Green are Combo's.

More Semi and Javonte. At least those guys have upside. Please no more Teague. Come back soon Marcus.

Give that man as much time as possible. The Durant situation got me shook.
I apologize for the things I have said in the past.

I hope we take it slow with Marcus. He's already injury prone as it is and you want to be careful with his body whereas he is not.

Hold him out the full 3 weeks. But him a week at a spa. Force him to heal up and be careful with his body.

I know we're near .500 as a team but with the Bucks, Heat, and Raptors also cratering so far early season there's some leeway. We'll make the playoffs as long as the Jays avoid long layoffs regardless so might as well play it safe here.

1-2 weeks is plenty. Calf injuries heal quickly.

Medical staff will probably be conservative with this I read and I agree. Thinking more like 3 weeks for him.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

My guess is he's going to miss a month. Probably 3 weeks to recover from this and another week just to get back into game shape.

So 7 to 11 games missed.

Pritchard was "return to basketball activities" in 2 weeks, a little over a week ago.

And Langford was "4-5 months" after surgery on Sept 22, which puts his return sometime in February.

I’d wait an extra week or two just don’t want to risk anything that could change this man’s career moving forward. The best news we could have hoped for glad the cobra is going to be okay!

You know, there's one positive thing that has come out of how players always exaggerate every little bit of contact and roll around on the floor in agony like they've been shot: Now, whenever I see someone go down, I never assume the worst - I basically just don't react or jump to any conclusions at all any more. He could be out for the season, or back at the next timeout, or anything in between, and there's no way of knowing until you get the official word. Saves me a lot of angst.

(BTW, I'm not saying that Smart was overreacting here. Just that I've been conditioned not to put any stock into how any players react to injury on the court.)

Our already poor defense about to get worse.

Translation: We'll be in the top 5 defensive rating by the time Smart gets back.
