It’s an unwritten NBA law that teams that come out and play up on opponents defensively are allowed to be more handsy. You might not like it, but that’s almost always what happens. Kerr era Warriors have done it and now the Celtics are doing it. Refs reward aggressiveness.
This is in response to people that say Horford is allowed to get handsy with Giannis. He is. It’s because of the way the Celtics play from the tip. Refs give them more leniency on that stuff. He’s also good at hiding it. Real vet wisdom.

It’s true. I don’t want to call it underrated but ball pressure is probably most valuable think you can do in todays nba given the way teams want to play offensively and way refs officiate. So guys who are good at it tend to be worth more than market gives them.
This is why I think guys like Walsh and Springer have more value than people think. They just need to not be a zero/negative on other end of the floor. At the very least, be a 35% shooter from 3, not mess up spacing, and be able to do something with the ball on closeouts. Of course, the right opportunity, team fit, and PT are factors in players showing their true value.
