Re: Brooklyn Nets 2016 offseason/free agency Tracker Thread
Their new coach was on the staff that turned Bazemore into the productive player who's projected to get a big payday this offseason. I don't know how much he was involved in that, or if the other Nets players are good enough to put in a system like the Hawks to get the most out of Kent, but it's something to be just a teeny bit worried about if we're looking for them to hit "Worst team in the league" status next season.
Give me a Tommy Point!

Great... I'm already fearing Danny drafting another point guard with the pick....

The Atlanta Hawks would like to re-sign Kent Bazemore but he'll receive significant interest in free agency.
The Milwaukee Bucks, Memphis Grizzlies and Brooklyn Nets are three teams that will pursue Bazemore.
Bazemore has emerged as a productive two-way wing over the past two seasons with the Hawks.
Bazemore began his career with the Golden State Warriors.
This scares me. I've seen a couple reports now that the Nets might be prepared to overpay a couple of mid-level free agents right out the gate while everyone else is chasing the big names. And with the amount of money the Nets can offer I can see them landing a couple of guys who are solid and just happy with the paycheck and chasing the 8th seed.
If they are lucky and land Bazemore and then can overpay guys like Jeremy Lin and Ryan Anderson they could actually be a relatively decent team. And if Levert can actually stay healthy along with Lopez and having another year of RHJ? They aren't going to be good, but they'll win enough to keep us out of range of the elite talents.

Nets with about $30M in committed salary. Wondering if they go into the season significantly under the salary floor and look to pick some up later in an effort to save money.

Free agent pitch is currently come play with Lopez, but there is a chance that we could trade him.

Well, we're here - and there is no choice but to hope you're 100% right. With 2017 being talked about as a strong draft, I would hate to miss out on a superstar by one or two picks.Homerclease wrote:CrowderKeg wrote:Sixers going after the likes of Harrison Barnes, Dion Waiters, and Luis Scola would be great for that Nets pick. Sixers will be good enough not to challenge the Nets for the bottom of the league.
Their tank is O V A over. Brooklyn needs a miracle in free agency.
Brad Stevens on fans who want the Celtics to tank: "I don’t think they’ll like me all that much then."

I'm more willing to trade the pick for Jimmy than before. I think the nets could sign just enough vets to eff this up

Every team near the Nets has more potential to improve their team than the Nets do. We may as well worry about the 76ers as well if we're worrying about the Nets.

Re: Brooklyn Nets 2016 offseason/free agency Tracker Thread
Clarkson Russell Ingram Randle Mozgov starting lineup for LAL. Can't play a lick of defense but they can shoot the ball really well. Right now they are better than the Nets but a lot of FA left to go. It would be nice if LAL could overpay another vet or two. Pass Brooklyn and screw up their future cap space all in one offseason would be sweet!

Nets are chasing young RFAs, theoretically a smart move but this is the worst year ever for it. Teams are just going to match. Maybe you can pry a Waiters away but...well, good luck with that.

Bad. Anytime they add talent, it hurts our pick. Get Chicago on the phone Danny.

Pretty indifferent about it. He's in the bottom tier of starting PG's, but definitely better than Jack.

Lin is a decent player so it's a good signing. I assume the nets paid him the most because I cannot imagine anybody wanting to spend the next three seasons there.

Other than Conley, probably the best PG that was out there. Best case scenario for us would've been Rondo. Solid deal IMO, but when he's your starting PG you're not going far. Still, solid deal. But doesn't move the needle much for them.

Lin is about equivalent with Thad in impact. Look for them to go for shooting 2-4.

Wow why would Lin go to Brooklyn? Bad career move, I bet he could've gone to a playoff team for just a tad less cash.
