I can imagine "if" they did that last part if that's what you meant.

Because I literally said that in the last sentence I wrote, you know, the one that you are referencing.

But yeah, happy to educate you on this stuff anytime, man. Lmk if you have more stuff you need to work through.

Gentry would quit on the spot if NO took that route. I don't think the owner lets Griffin do that to the team. It caused to much chaos after the deadline last year.

That's why I said "this won't happen".

To take it one step further, most of this board had a meltdown over the trade once the Nets pick came out as part of the package. Viper has been reminded of this of numerous occasions lol.

I loved the deal at the time and still love it even if Kyrie bounces. But an overwhelming **** hated it.

I was in favor of it for the same reason I wanted us to risk it for Kawhi, and now for AD. It's the only way you're winning a title in the near future, need superstars. Kyrie hasn't become what i think he should be, but you take that risk 10/10 times.

I don't know if it was you, Truth, or CeltsFanSinceBirth but someone linked the reaction thread of the Kyrie deal sometime this season and it was pretty ugly lol.

Is it standard practice to thank the fans and your teammates after the season ended? Jimmy Butler might have just said goodbye to Philly.

Rondo and Irving would be fantastic, btw, I'd bet money Rondo puts his hands on Irving within the first 6 months of his stay here.
Good assessment:

Theis came to the Celtics earning less than he would in Europe. Now that he can get a bit more than the minimum doesn't make sense to leave.

Rondo/Irving/Hayward/AD/Horford is a hell of a lineup

Having Rondo facilitate to Irving curling off screens and throwing lobs to AD :droop:

Oh I agree but that isn’t gonna be a move Cs make going into recruitment of Kyrie to come back. If Kyrie leaves Boston what are his legitimate options.....Knick’s,Nets and Lakers. If so we could potentially make a deal to one of those teams for a sign and trade of a small piece back

Kyrie shouldn't factor into any offseason plans. Hes gone. Done. 100 percent out the door. The quicker we all accept that as fact the better off we will all be. Perk would be a solid voice for a team that needs it.

Irving is one of those trades I didn't have strong feelings either way and in those situations I tend to give Ainge the benefit of the doubt. I liked seeing IT traded since felt the Celtics just needed to get bigger at PG and I thought IT's presence may weaken the Cavs in the playoffs -- it obviously didn't that much since they traded him. I didn't like to see Crowder go at all since he had one of the best contracts in the NBA for a role player but at that same time I had kind of lost faith in Crowder as one of those role players that can slow down Lebron a little bit. I never saw Kyrie as a superstar since his defense isn't good enough given the level of his offense but at the same time on the right team I thought and still think he can be number 1 scorer on a championship team. And I thought he was a top 20-25 player in the right situation when he is playing hard and in important playoff games but at the same time I think the impact of those players is usually much less than top 10 players.

Probably best way of saying it in my case, I was mildly in favor of it because of my faith in Ainge/Stevens and my realization that the clock was ticking on Horford but I would have liked to see Celtics explore alternatives given the perceived value of Nets pick. Once the Celtics signed Horford, they kind of had a commitment to the guy to try to win.

With some 20/20 hindsight if I knew the Celtics perhaps in large part due to injuries would never balance out the roster during Irving's 2 cheap years before he was due a major extension, I wouldn't have done the trade in Ainge's shoes. But I think it is unfair to know what Ainge would have done at the deadline last year if Hayward and then later Irving never got hurt.

Without those injuries, I am 95%+ confident Celtics get by Cavs and probably lose in finals to Warriors but are not humiliated like the Cavs were.

Welp....we are screwed. Remember the golden rule - everything Sherrod says is the opposite of what happens in real life.

Exactly where Irving goes is unknown, though it seems unlikely on the surface that he would return to Boston given the difficult circumstances of the season’s end.

Still, some NBA insiders think Irving will be back in Boston next season.

“He’s playing all of you guys right now,” a Western Conference front office executive told NBC Sports Boston reporter A. Sherrod Blakely. “Say what you want about his leadership and all that nonsense, but the one thing we know about Kyrie is he will do what is best for Kyrie. The money, chance to win a title sooner rather than later, have his own team … all that stuff matters and when he looks at all the different options he’ll have, I think he’ll have one of those, ‘what the hell was I thinking?’ moments and go back to Boston.”

And one NBA scout told Blakely that, “I think he comes back and he comes back with an attitude; a little edgier with not just his words but his play.”

Looks like I'm selling my Kyries next month.

I strongly disagree that Pels don't have to trade Davis, that'd be a massive **** up to let him leave for nothing. They could have Tatum, multiple picks, and some combo of Smart/Hayward/Brown.

AD will be traded 1-2 days before the draft or on draft day. I will be shocked if anything else happens.

Yep. What's Shane making, half that?
I like his defense better than Wanamaker.

Agreed. Massive miscalc by this dude. Wanted a bigger role, felt it wasn't there this year and found himself in a euro league. Damn right though, dude was a soIid dependable guard.

Agreed but it was his choice if I recall correctly.

I think that it was a financial issue. We hadn't extended anything to Larkin.
So he bounced. And then we went after the cheaper option: Brad Wanamaker.
