Re: Romeo Langford Thread
I'm onboard with the pick but can we hold the phone on trading Brown before he actually sets foot on court?

Re: Romeo Langford Thread
my dream scenario by 2021-22 is tatum bulks up and takes over as PF (ala durant), brown ends up at SF, and romeo is our SG of the future. three long, athletic guys who can switch on D and rebound, all of whom can drop 20+ on you on any given night. just need a defensive minded rebounding center, and a defensive facilitator pg who can shoot the 3 (or smart learns to shoot... hey, it's a dream, right?).

Have the C's introduced any draftees holding up Celtics jerseys yet? Other teams have done this already. I believe not all our draft picks are staying and could be on the move, including Langford.

I believe the press conference with the draftees is tomorrow, no idea what time.

11 am. Just the 4 draftees: Langford, G-Will, Edwards, Waters. Tacko won't be there.

For those who know his game better: can you see him playing PG consistently for us?

I've been hearing Brown is shorter than reported and that's why he's stuck at the 2.
Given our roster construction it does make sense we'll see a lot of Tatum and Hayward at the 4 next year though!

I saw the exact opposite. It's been awhile since I saw a lottery pick with videos like those and he doesn't even get close to the rim on his drives.
Wade was an overpowering athletic and strength package.
Tatum looked more athletic than Langford coming into the league and he only scores by using extremely off angle layups and is often shut down by contests at the rim.
That could be something that stops his driving ability completely, hopefully it isn't. We won't know till we get a few months into his rookie season. That's a red flag though.
Ainge drafted all 3 of his players though with below average athleticism. It's clearly something he is trying to moneyball it seems in the last few drafts.

No. He's got a good handle for a wing, but he's not a floor general, his playmaking vision is limited and he'd call his own number too much. He's a slasher scorer, not a true playmaker.
But he can do nice work playing in secondary pick and rolls and I think he can develop into a high usage wing creator in the future.

You're missing Romeo's strength. Very powerfully built. Much stronger around the rim than Tatum is. Very good touch too.
He's a good athlete. Good hang time. Good body control. Just doesn't have a great first step. But he has the handle to navigate picks and that takes care of some of the lack of explosiveness
His stepback and triple threat attacks are great. Can post up too. If he extends his range and improves his passing, you're looking at a very, very complete wing player in terms of size and skill.

I'm asking this because as of now we only really have Smart to play the point, and then Hayward, Jaylen, Jayson to play the 2 and 3. And I think he's talked about the possibility of playing point guard if we want to go big.
And tbf, most of the new era point guards are basically score first PG anyway

Mr. Indiana being coached by Indiana coaching legend I have a growing confidence that Boston was just the right spot for him.

Do you just come on the board to troll people? I'm mean why bother? Gee, let's hate watch the team and troll everyone who thinks anything is possibly good because they must be stupid. Wow, must be a wonderful way to spend your time.
I know you'll likely come back super defensive calling me Chief or some other variant, claiming that an insider purported that this pick is for someone else.

True, but even score first point guards have a pretty significant playmaking role, one that requires exceptional ball-handling and awareness. Wings who can shoulder that load are rare - Harden, LBJ and a few others.
I think Romeo has some potential as quality playmaking wing in the Pierce mode (4 apg as a drive and kick, secondary PNR playmaker) but that's going to take time

It was a legitimate question. I'm sorry you are offended by a question a fellow Celtic posed but it was a rumor I heard and was hoping to get clarification on.

Re: Romeo Langford Thread
He is a different type of athlete. Multiple people have used smooth, I would add shifty and he changes speeds, sometimes more than once in a sequence very well. Also, as a guy who has a right thumb that is shaped like an old fashioned Coke bottle, I can attest that a damaged hand changes everything you do, from cutting your steak to tying your shoes. The fact that he played through it, took the heat, and kept on bringing effort is impressive. He doesn't look a ripped up, but he has a neck that you typically get playing football or wrestling.
I will not put my curse on him by saying that I like him, but the young man has the tools and attitude to be a player. I like that.

Hmmmmm yeah, looked super well thought out and considered as you couldn't even be bothered to throw a question mark to the back end of your sentence. There are better ways to take your aggression, probably more healthily as well. It's not like this is a one post thing in this one thread. I'm not offended at all, please why don't you further your point. What kind of package do you think he's involved in? Which team do you think would want this player? Who's system do you think he'll fit into better than the Celtics? Right, I'm sure you were really grinding your gears about your engaging post.

Re: Romeo Langford Thread
I think what he lacks in explosiveness to the rim he makes up for with his body control since he doesn’t seem to go to the rim out of control very often.
