I can't even recall the last no-defense big that Ainge drafted. He basically has only drafted wings and guards the last five years unless an absolute freak like Rob Williams falls to them. And I don't see the game moving away from the perimeter anytime soon, in fact teams still play traditional bigs far too often so we're still years away from the pinnacle where teams are shooting 65 3s a game on average. If Houston wins the title this year, get ready for James Wiseman to fall to like Pick 15.

This is much more your modern NBA center

He is pretty much your ideal center for a team that is a perimeter heavy team.

77% of his shots come at the rim or from 3
38% from 3 on 2.5 attempts a game and 76% from the line
72% of his shots at the rim are assisted on or from putbacks
Extremely mobile and agile which allows him to guard the PnR and out in space

Give me the undersized athletic big over the plodding low post big that doesn't play defense any day of the week in today's NBA

I think team is not going to draft a big at all honestly, I feel like, obviously, Danny is more than happy with Theis, Williams, Poirier as the center rotation for the foreseeable future.

If team does look at a big I would be very interested in Makur Maker at the bucks pick. I mean guy needs time in the Gleague (which fits team need honestly, keeps a spot open) but the potential is off the chart. He has modern day KG sort of a ceiling, which is foolish.

Those are always good jokes.

The minor problem was you went with "Thon Maker's son".

Grandson would have been more believable.

17, 23, 30, 45, 53, could be many picks for a draft with not a lot of good, especially where Celtics need it.

Will suggest Gonzaga and Arizona have some of the more useful prospects, considering what the Celtics need.

You can get an athletic power forward from one of them and an outside shooting power forward from the other.

Celtics have no NBA-size power forwards on the current roster.

If Minny ends up picking 4th and Wiseman is still on the board. (very possible as 2 of the current 1-3 picks have many centers locked in already and if GSW picks at 1 then Edwards is most likely the BPA) would danny trade for it?

I mean, not quite sure the cost, but Minny is in need of everything, perhaps Langford, Edwards, Memphis pick and bucks pick is enough to nab that #4 pick. Or maybe Hayward and Boston pick for James Johnson and the pick?

Would fill alot of holes for minny and give Celtics a guy they can certainly use.

IMO, a willingness to agree to stay overseas or otherwise be stashed for a year possibly if not probably indicates a lack of confidence and/or a lack of passion or ambition on some level.

I just don't like this logic. I know it's not so simple, but it has been rumored to be the ultimate reason why we passed on drafting Giannis. It was a reason we drafted Yabu over whoever we would have drafted instead.

The latest example might be Terence Davis, who has been playing well for the Raptors. We brought the guy in for two workouts, and it has since been reported in the media that at least one or two teams had wanted to draft him, but they had asked him if he would agree to be stashed for the year (he was asked to agree to a two way deal I believe it was reported) and he chose to go undrafted.

The irony here is that many who won't agree to be stashed just want an opportunity to make a roster, and won't necessarily object to being stashed if they are simply unable to earn a spot. Worst case, you end up cutting them but establish a relationship and maybe get them back down the line.

Just take the BPA and maneuver as needed after the fact.

But talent and player aren't the same thing. The best talent may not be ready for the NBA, but the clock starts once they are signed. So two years into their contract that may be worthless in the NBA. We saw this with Chriss and Bender. It doesn't mean they will never adapt to the NBA and have a role.

The other piece is the individual contract the player has in Europe and his buyout. This might be a good draft to be in because of how you compare to other talent in the draft but not necessarily the best year to buyout of your contract in Europe.

But either way this team is not likely to add 4 rookies next season overseas stashes are one of your better options we are talking about end of the first round and second round for 3 of them. The other is a consolidation trade, and the worst is waving them in camp.

Consolidation trades are difficult, and teams don't move up that much. Philly traded up with Boston to get Thybulle, but moving up cost them #24 and #33. Draft and stash is a better option, and the player agreeing to go overseas doesn't have to be a European player (although it helps). Killian Hayes is certainly a stash option for the Celtics with the Memphis pick. Paul Eboua, the Cameronian playing in Italy, is another strong stash candidate with a later pick: young, raw athlete who needs time to develop.

Can't trade Hayward anymore unless he opts in before the draft.

If we're going to stash, Bolmaro and Alocén should be top priorities as Fischella has already said.
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

Hayes IMO is one of the 5 best prospects in the draft. If we get him with the MEM pick he should be on the roster and we can bid farewell to someone like Carsen.

Most of the consensus drafts have him going around 15. NBAdraft.net has him at #16, and if the season ended today Memphis would be picking at #17.

Take this for what you will, but a number of draft Twitter guys who have a good success rate have Hayes ranked in the top 5-10. This year especially will be a hard one to handicap. I honestly think we can get a top 5 talent to slide to us this year even if the Grizz pick is 14-18.

It happened with Langford last year. Here is the Tankathon mock from January 2019: https://web.archive.org/web/20190126135226/http://www.tankathon.com/mock_draft

I feel like a lot of guys could go anywhere from 1-10. Everyone thinks Wiseman goes 1, but he could fall to 10 and I wouldn't be surprised.

I see him more top 10 in most sites.

Theo maledon is more likely in our range. And I think he will be better.

He is stronger, smarter, more fluid, can use both hands, better court vision, far better defender.

Ahleticism is not westbrook level, but his head will allow that to not be an issue. He is very much like SGA
