But Trae is the guy there, and their team was not good this past year. Also, It's not a situation where he'd be the #1. So leaving for them, barring a Hawks turnaround/Celtics downfall, is not a basketball decision.

I think Jaylen's plan is to try to win a ring here if we're still good, then look for his own situation. At least if we don't trade him for KD or something first.

The Hawks are definitely the exception to the above, and it’s no secret in basketball circles that him eventually ending up there isn’t exactly some longshot.

Hawks and Heat are probably the two realistic teams to worry about.

The fact that this isnt young prime Durant is the only reason this is even a realistic conversation.

It's the annual Trade Jaylen thread. Let the guys who pushed JB for Wiseman and JB for Harden have some fun.

I mean, Perk told us the story about Danny calling him up to get his thoughts on a Jaylen for Harden trade. These are actual things being pondered outside of this forum. Not just the "haters" making things up.

Idk about the Wiseman thing though. Forgive whoever said that one haha.

Maybe JB doesn't want to be "robin" to Tatum's Batman.

With Tatum and KD, I can play the shooting guard spot and we'd win 50..
Google "Jaylen Brown and Celtics fans" and you realize wondering if Brown would re-sign needs to be addressed. If I knew Brown was happy and wanted to stay, I wouldn't trade for KD. I think many people believe KD is beyond getting serious injuries as opposed to more prone to get them. So my "in a vacuum " take with Brown staying is keep riding the two young All Stars and look to supplement them.
But I'm not real comfortable with Brown liking a tweet saying Boston fans disrespect him
Brad Stevens on fans who want the Celtics to tank: "I don’t think they’ll like me all that much then."

Jaylen isn't an All-Star.

Perk said Danny told him he was joking. Cause he was not going to trade a guy with that potential constantly improve every year

Is odd some feel the need to insult those questioning trading a top 20 25 year-old for a slender 6'10 guy, who will be turning 34, and plays on the perimeter.

The comparison to KG/Jefferson is laughable. The Celtics were a lottery team when they made that trade, not an NBA finals team led by guys in their 20s.

Jaylen closer to top 30 than he is 20, based on pretty much every ranking, and not making the all star team this past year/lack of all nba votes. But this is mostly semantics at this point. And if we’re going to say KD will be 34, at least be consistent and point out that Jaylen will be 26 when next season starts. There’s a huge age gap regardless, obviously lol.

Not sure if mentioned already but a KD Tatum team would draw a hell of a lot more veteran "ring chasers" that the J and J team.. Mostly out of respect of KD.. Can't prove it.. just my gut feeling.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

Ok. Going to be 26 and likely to get better.

Are you suggesting there's 30 guys you'd trade Jaylen for?

Yes, but will he get better enough to make the gap between him and KD less than massive over the next two seasons? I’m not asking in a prick way, just genuinely curious. I just can’t imagine KD going from an MVP caliber player this year (when he played, I acknowledge that he only played 55 games and has some injury concerns) to Jaylen level over the next two years.

And 30? No, probably 12-15 guys at most, I’m not a blind hater, just hater adjacent. That’s a trade value ranking though, not player ranking, and they are very different things.

if you wouldn’t trade Jaylen brown for a top 3 player whose still playing at an mvp level and even if he dropped off 30% would still be in a different tier than Jaylen you just can’t be taken seriously. I’ve been hard on Jaylen and I’ve eaten crow in certain regards but this is just a new level of homerism blind love.

J anon 2024

Many were for trading JB for Harden. How's that looking now?

If KD was a few years younger, I'd be for it. He'll be 34. and since JB is a UFA in a few years, BKN will want FRP's included. Dealing off the picks will limit the ability to make subsequent moves. GSW and Milwaukee with Middleton are probably just as good as KD and Tatum next year.

I advocated for it. To be clear this harden is STILL better than Jaylen brown even in his diminished form lol. That said that’s one where I was wrong on and 80% of the reason I actually was wrong is because of the Jump TATUM made. JT finished this season about a year ahead of where I figured he’d be the end of next season.

I figured harden would be a great bridge until Tatum became undisputed top 10/1st team all nba guy. Luckily for us Tatum made that jump this year and we didn’t trade for harden. That’s not to say jaylen hasn’t made strides and made me eat some crow- he’s improved a lot also. But the reason I wouldn’t make that trade TODAY is because of Jayson Tatum.....not Jaylen brown.

Also bad comparison comparing harden now to what KD still is.

How many post did you have on that trade 2-3 thousand? That's tough

Na. Let’s not exaggerate here. Probably only 10-12 players I’d easily trade him for today.

IF healthy, KD is the superior player. Historically most players really decline around 35 though. If KD was a post player, there's a better likelihood of him remaining dominant for another 2-3 years. However he's a slender 6'10 perimeter player. If he blows out his knee or Achilles next year, the franchise is f'd cause there's no picks left.

Lastly, since we're talking about trading Jaylen, trade ranking is very relevant.
