Tatum bigger and stronger this season.

Starting to look like a true PF.

He's also been a very good on the glass.

So I don't think the Knicks really have size advantage this time around.

I like Joe's mentality here. Conventional thinking would have you go double big against a Robinson-Randle starting frontcourt. Let the Knicks adjust to our style of play. Defensively, you can throw different looks at Randle. He's not a very good post passer so doubling him is an option as he's not surrounded by knockdown shooters. Jrue and JB can both hold their own initially against him inside before a timely double. Keep KP near the rim/baseline as much as possible. Don't want him to get switched onto Brunson. If Randle is too much of a load inside, bring in Horford early. Rebounding from our wings/guards will be key.

I don't know how the Knicks defend that much space our 5-out and movement can create.

Looking forward to seeing if the C's continue doing full court presses now during the season, or if that was just some experimenting in the pre-season.

Thought this might be the case, being his last season opener and he has called games from NYC in the past when he was "strictly" doing home games. That's welcome news. BTW - Who the hell is James Banks III and why has no one welcomed him to Boston yet?

James, who is not the first Banks III to become a Celtic, was immediately waived. He's headed to Maine as an affiliate player IINM.

Good, but I’m also a little surprised. Mitch + Randle is as big and strong front court as the Celtics will see all season. Knicks are known to be a strong offensive rebounding team. Although, you could make the argument that Tatum is a better rebounder than Al anyway.

5 out lineup should expose Randle and Robinson on the perimeter, if the Celtics can hit the broadside of a barn tonight they ought to win

Yeah, Tatum had a 13% rebounding rate last season, compared to 11% for Al.

And Tatum packed on even more muscle over the summer.

Tatum and Al are probably pretty close to the same size at this point, but tatum is much quicker at this point in their careers.

Randle is more of a perimeter player (at least on offense) who hangs out on the perimeter and shoots lots of mid range jumpers and 3's. Tatum should be able to check him pretty well. And I'm sure Al will check in pretty early in the game.

I think the only teams where we should start Al is vs Philly (to defend Embiid), Milwaukee (to defend Giannis. Giannis/Lopez is probably the best/strongest frontcourt duo in the league)..perhaps Denver and perhaps Orlando.

I thought we *might* go double bigs tonight vs the Knicks. But the fact that we're bringing Al off the bench tonight tells me that Al is going to be coming of the bench the vast majority of the time - which is the right move, imo.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Kill them to kill the haters !

On a serious x’s and 0’s notes; im curious to see if they still continue to have Tatum play some drop as the 4.

I like the C's starting and closing with their 5 best players which are Tatum, Brown, Porzingis, Jrue and White. You have five guys that can shoot, create, and defend. Make other teams adapt to you instead of adjusting to them.

I also really like Al with a consistent 6th man role off the bench. I feel like he's going to thrive and will still play around 25+ minutes per game. He can still play with Porzingis in spots throughout the game.

With all the retired numbers, How did we get a starting lineup with all single digits?

They're the only single-digit jersey numbers left.
