I disagree with that because I think we'll be seeing Tatum play in March.

I'm thinking Feb 8, 2026, poetically vs the Knicks, and two games before the All-Star Break.
Gives him time to workout more with the Team, during the Break.

Also, didn't his Dad early on say he expected a return in 8-9 months? 9 Months from his injury is Feb 12. Now, granted that was early on in the process and perhaps not grounded with any real medical knowledge, but interesting none-the-less.

Jayson Tatum isn't the one who decides when he will return to an NBA game.

And his dad has even less say than he does.

Joe, Brad, ownership and the medical staff will decide it..and they may ask Jayson his input a little but in terms of how he's feeling physically/mentally. But the decision will be made mostly by Joe/Brad/owners/medical staff..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

I just heard on the radio, that there will be no green in the Celtics City Uniforms for the first time in their history.

Which tradition-hating idiot thought that this was a good idea?

Don't worry the new ownership group is committed to Celtics tradition. Just like they are committed to spend to put a winner on the floor. And some people actually buy what they are selling

The player most definitely has a large say in the decision if we wish to keep said player on our team.

This seems like the most "potential" we've had going deeper into the 7-17 part of the roster. I like our young group overall, though we really don't have a blue chip young prospect in the bunch, but a good amount of potential here. Definitely excited to start camp and then i'm beyond ready for some hoops

first preseason game is, i think, oct 8 in Memphis

JT already had his first on-court basketball workout a few days ago.

And to think December is still 2 months away.

I think the Celtics are going to surprise a lot of fans this season.

Yep Oct. 8th. I'll be putting up a Multi-Game Thread for the Preseason; after Media Day.

I don't understand what I'm watching here. Jayson Tatum had to have made some unholy pact with the devil or he was built in a lab. When he said that he had been working out, I thought maybe a very light jog and some free throws. WTF bro?? Who moves like this 4 months after achilles surgery? I don't care what anybody says, he's coming back this season. I had mid March as reasonable but I might be way off.

It's not even December and JT is already doing that.

Like I said, once doctors clear JT, he will play.

It's not as dumb as it sounds now that we are seeing it with our own eyes.

If it happens, Tatum's return late this season changes the way to look at the roster.

The 4/5 position goes from Queta, Boucher, Garza, and a small forward playing out of position; to Queta, Tatum, Boucher, and Garza. That's a whole other deal.

Now the rotation looks something like:
Queta, Tatum, Brown, White, Simons
Boucher, Hauser, Pritchard, Garza?, and whoever emerges.

If Tatum's himself and Queta shows he's capable, that's a genuinely good team.

Don't forget Brad can upgrade the roster on or before trade deadline.

I believe the Cs will be fine in the regular season with what they have right now.

But the Cs will need another big man with more playoff experience if the Cs are too keep up with the top teams in the east and west.

Would be nice to have a blue-chipper but realistically we already have three top ~30 players and a couple other championship quality rotation players. If even 1-2 of the prospects turns into a contending-level rotation player then that is a great outcome.

My guess is they'll end up around a 4th seed, but with Tatum back by yearend a lineup of PP, DW, the Jays and Queta should at least be competitive in the playoffs. My interest for the first few months will be the 2nd and 3rd year guys and how they shake out, then the rooks after that.

I love that JB organized this with these younger players. Jaylen takes so much pride in this role he has as leader of this team. With so many new players from all over, he makes them feel welcome. Makes them feel like a part of what we're doing here and part of the Boston community. Big reason why guys come here and do so well and just LOVE being a part of this team. And we'll need that for sure this year.
