Few things in response to Jay King's piece with Brad Stevens.

-Sure doesn't seem like Stevens has any appetite whatsoever so move Brown or Tatum in any sort of deal. I don't blame him.
-Celtics thrilled with Timelords progress. Doesn't seem like Center is a position they are looking to improve.
-shooting, shooting, shooting. if there's a deal it's likely going to be for a shooter (thank goodness)
-the rest is essentially a whole lot about nothing.

He won't come out and say it, but it's coaching, coaching and coaching or lack thereof.

He have shooters on this team. Pritchard, Nesmith and Hauser. The problem is Ime doesn't play them. Ime only plays 7 guys.
If we trade for a shooter, he has to be a vet that can shoot and also play some defense or he won't see the court other than when we are getting blown out.

I agree with you to a certain extent. To your point, I look at the Miami Heat....They are INCREDIBLE at finding guys and developing them...Duncan Robinson is a great example....Lately it's been Max Straus (who we had)...You would think that if they had someone like Hauser they would find a way to make him productive and useful.
Pritchard is limited because of his size and lack of explosiveness...but he's good. I like him as a backup guard. Nesmith is supposed to be a good shooter, but he's not making shots...so I'm curious if that's a confidence thing because of a lack of opportunity. Hauser is a guy I'd like to see play....he looks like an awesome shooter based on the small sample size I've seen of him.

It's tough to really make predictions for the trade deadline without knowing if ownership is willing to stay in the tax or not. If they are, there are tons of intriguing possibilities. We can't trade for a 3rd star (don't have the assets), but there's lots of flexibility with TPEs, shorter term contracts and lower level prospects if ownership signs off on starting the tax clock this year.

My anticipation all along has been that we will use a second or two to salary dump Hernangomez to avoid the tax and then do real heavy lifting in the offseason. But I do hope I'm wrong.

Schroeder trade will take away reliable point production we need (who are Schroeder's touches going to? Smart?), but Pritchard playing more would help our spacing. Nesmith is just.. does he make them in practice? His shot's abandoned him. And Tatum shot 44 percent from 3 as a rookie. He's come a long way.

I think we have shooters. Sometimes it takes players a while to adjust the NBA game. Look at timelord. He has really found his groove this year.

Pritchard, Nesmith, and Hauser are all quality shooters. I think we will see them step forward.

What we really need is a big point like Dejaunte Murray, SGA, Haliburton. Like a bigger, less reckless Schroder. That's what this team needs IMO.

Hauser and Nesmith will have a hard time scoring if they are on the court with the Jays and Schroder. Who will be looking for them? Can't shoot if you don't get the ball. No chance of scoring at all if you don't get put in the game. Ime needs to put together a lineup that will capitalize on Hauser and Nesmith's shooting. Pritchard's too. Pritchard, Nesmith, Hauser, GWill, and RWill. If you need more defense, sub out Nesmith or Hauser for Josh Richardson (or Romeo). If you want to see what these guys can bring, though, leave the Jays on the bench. They could use the rest anyway.

Only Celtic I can remember like Nesmith is Avery Bradley.. he'd hit threes in practice and Doc decided to just set him loose for a few weeks until he smoothed it out in games

The "nervous energy" helps him on defense, though - it's like he's tightly wound up and it helps him on one end and hurts him on the other

Nesmith shot well during a brief stretch in college before his team played any decent competition. And then he got hurt. We have no evidence as a pro that he is even an average shooter. It’s all been propaganda. Even Young looked more promising as a shooter and he was a complete bust. He has been pretty awful overall. I say this knowing he just had one of his best games as a pro. I just don’t see him doing anything before his contract is up.

OT but I think Dallas is going to get Myles Turner for Powell, Finney-Smith and maybe a 1st. That's a good team, they're 24-19 as is. If we get stuck giving them Schroeder/Juancho for Burke/Frank to duck the tax, and Porzingis stays healthy, they creep up into that top tier in the west.

I mean, he did shoot 37% from deep as a rookie last year. Nothing amazing, but that’s definitely better than average.

It’s just this year he hasn’t been able to hit any of them.

My best-case now is that we end up the "9 seed" by a tiebreaker and lose in the play-in tournament, then leapfrog to the top 3 in the lottery. Happens every so often - Bulls were dead in the water and got Derrick Rose.. Lakers jumped from 11 to 4 the year they traded for AD.
