While I question the leadership and personality of Kyrie, he is still a hell of basketball player that will be impossible to replace. He may like the idea of Brooklyn because they are the #2 team in New York. There is no pressure there, because no one really cares. He clearly doesn't care about winning so maybe it's for the best.

Lebron with AD will beat HOU easily. Damn! They could very well be a top contender next season.

I don't agree with this. HOU is definitely in some turmoil right now, but their team and system makes them a contender every year and at worst a really tough out.

I mean, I get how good LeBron & AD are but the Lakers couldn't even make the playoffs in the west last year; as much as I think their young core is a little overrated, I don't see them becoming a juggernaut with just those two guys & not much else. I'm sure they'll fill out their roster but I don't think that puts them head & shoulders above teams like the Rockets, Nuggets, Blazers, etc. Of course the Warriors too, depending on how things shake out for them.

I am anti laker as it gets and I want to seem them fail as much as anyone else....they get AD and Lebron they’ll be able to put a roster together with role players who want to go to LA and have a chance to win. AD with Lebron in his ear will be engaged and ridiculous.

And if they don’t have to sake on Solomon hill (which is very possible they will ) they can then take a chance on a Kemba Walker or jimmy butler type and I’ll tske Lebron in the playoffs every time against Denver or James harden

Agreed— it why I expect LA to offer multiple unprotected firsts to close the deal. They have every incentive to get him.

Listen I hate the d-bag but if your in a series and your life is on the line your not betting against Lebron WITH ad in favor of James harden or the nuggets let’s be real here

I'm starting to think Ainge might be trying to line up other deals first to build a contender for AD. I mean does he have a choice? If we trade Brown and Tatum for AD we are left with a starting five of Rozier Smart Hayward Horford and AD. That's not good enough, can you imagine how much of disaster that would be for AD. He would probably demand to be traded half way through the year.

If you're Lakers management, do you really want to give up all your assets for a guy that is telling you he is coming to your team in 1 year?

They could essentially get AD in 1 year without giving up any assets.

Now, I know LeBron doesn't want to lose a year, but if you're Pelinka (or Buss or Rambis or whoever is making decisions), you can't completely discount the idea of just letting the Pels trade AD to us and then get him in a year KEEPING all your assets.

Their assets are probably at an all-time low right now. A year from now, you could have Ball and Ingram back as blue chippers, a #4 pick that delivers and Kuzma as a 3 point sniper.

They could be in a better situation a year from now as an organization if they actually wait.

Probably because people said the same things about Paul George and Kawhi. George already re-signed and Kawhi seems very unlikely to go there. The Lakers keep passing on trades and waiting for those guys to be free agents and getting burned. Plus you can't waste another year of Lebron. He's great but father time is undefeated.

It all depends on Lebron’s health. They were no.4 in west when lebron went down, and could have easily made the playoffs if he was healthy. AD and Lebron could easily beat the blazers, HOU and the nuggets.

I don’t want it to happen it’s f the lakers all day but look at the nba landscape and then see if they get AD....now the pitch to free agents is Lebron , ad, Hollywood in a wide open league. Changes everything

I haven't read it. I'll have to check it out.

Gone

After reading the article, I'm still not convinced.

I think the NBA is in a game of chicken with Danny right now.

We asked this question WAY BACK WHEN:

Will Danny trade for AD before he has any commitment from Kyrie and no extension from AD?

This is EXACTLY where we ended up right now.

I don't know if he's up for that risk or if it's even worth it, but this is EXACTLY where we said we were going to end up.

If Danny gets AD in the next week, it could change everything.

Pelicans will be even less likely to deal him to the Lakers IMO. They essentially giving them a championship (if they stay healthy).

I think at the end of the day IF it is the best deal they’ll do it. Griffin is pretty rationale he’s not gonna let spite stop them from doing what’s best for his team. IF and it’s a big IF but if best deal they’ll do it.

I don’t think AD alone can beat the raps or the bucks. We need to have a sure fire contender to have a chance for AD to resign. I can’t see that if we don’t resign kyrie.

I'm sorry but he'd have a far better team here than anything Lakers can build without him.

I guess we just fundamentally disagree. I don't we'd have a bad team to put around AD. I believe in Hayward and I believe Danny swings another trade in season to improve the team. I don't think Lakers are that good next year, you can't just disregard the entire circus out there, culture matters.

Agree to disagree

I thought about that too but we don't have the salaries right now assuming other deals are maybe Beal or similar.

I think we get AD, resign Terry and Morris for more money and then use them and Brown for a bigger trade during the season.

By Monday or Tuesday. Reports are Griffin wants a few days to analyze the draft and any picks he gets in the deal. If nothing by Tuesday, probably nothing will happen until after the draft.
