Tatum has 39 points... in his last two fourth quarters. After a small detour by brick city earlier in the season, it's nice to have our closer back.

I'm not saying it's wrong to leave him off but not seeing James on these kind of lists just feels weird. I think it'll take me a couple extra years to get use to it so don't mind me. He might not have the all around impact of the other players but Curry is probably tied with Durant for "whatever garbage he throws up, I'm still expecting it to go down". Healthy Kawhi is a beast too. After that, I think there is a clear dropoff to whoever's next in line.

LeBron is incredible still offensively, but he’s almost non competitive on the other end. Which I totally get, dude is old and has to do everything offensively, but I do think Tatum has been better all around this year.

Steph was the ballsy one lol, but he really has fallen off a fair amount this season. Realistically he’s still above Tatum, but going forward? I’d take JT.

Now I feel bad for saying I wasn't really attached to the team. I'm eating so much crow I hear Brandon Lee's voice in my head chanting 'Big Deuce, Big Deuce, Big Deuce! "

I think he's vaulted into that top 10 and I expect there will be a lot of chatter on the morning shows about him 'getting into the MVP discussion.' As we get towards the beginning of his 'early prime' this is all coming along great -- on and -- as far as we can tell -- off the court.

Steph, Dame, Butler, CP3, AD, George -- all seem permanently passed by Tatum. That was not the case a year ago. Maybe you could still make an argument for Steph but within 12 months that'll shift.

Harden might have an argument but how much peak does he have left?

The real so-what about all this is... it's winning now time. This felt like a setup year for next year -- or even the year after. But we gotta go now.

This list is quite reasonable, but my one nit pick is Derozan... Yes he is a MVP candidate and deserves great recognition. But when I make my lists, I have "impact to winning" above all else. With that said, It seems like Boston is straight trash when Tatum sits or doesn't play much (more than most/all) That and my gut says he plays so well both on and off the ball defensively, switches also well (against 1-5) that most just overlook that aspect of Tatum's. Most just look at box score numbers and lean of offensive heavy players. The two way player aspect is much better for me. If Not for Giannis, I think Tatum may very well be the best 2 way player in the game. and that is why I feel his impact is so greatly felt.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

JT with his 6th 50 pt game as a Celtic and just turned 24. Larry Bird with 4 50 pt games and was 24 yo as a rookie. The sky is the limit for JT.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Tat all day and when it's said and done, history will show that luka was great but he was no tatum!! i would say luka can't defend me but i dont watch him enough to know. i just know if you think he's SLIGHTLY better offensively than tat, there is a chasm between their levels of defense, so that makes tat better EASILY!! he's not even much younger than tat.
Luka isn't slightly better than Tatum offensively Shak. It's pretty significant. He's one of the best passers/playmakers in the game. His court vision is insane, and he controls the tempo exceptionally well.

He's a top 5 offensive talent in the league.

Luca is a amazing distributor but Im not sure how you can say significant when you consider everything. Doncic has been a good mid range shooter but has struggled this year but when you consider outside shooting and attacking Tatum is the better scorer. Ive been super critical of Tatum’s ability to make others better but even I have to admit he’s taken a step forward with his passing as of late. Doncic is the more impactful player but with the way Tatum has played recently I dont see a big gap.
I'm speaking offensively, not overall.

2nd Team: CP3, Curry, DeRozan, KD, Embiid
3rd Team: Trae/Mitchell, Booker, Butler, James, Gobert

He’s only 24 yrs old so he probably won’t ask to be moved if they don’t make the finals this year with a nucleus that they’re in the middle of building. Troll harder next time though!

This is all well said and I share your enthusiasm. I’m just trying to respect the fact that DeMar is having a magical season and might straight-up murder us in the playoffs.

Then again, CHI is the next team we pass in the Eastern standings and he’s due to cool off, and he’d go like 100 picks after Tatum if you redrafted the whole NBA right now.

We just paid him and gave him the keys to the franchise. I don’t want to jinx anything but think we’ve got this season and two more in the bag easy — this whole Celtic legacy thing might start resonating with our St. Louis boy.

I'm tempering my expectations and hoping for at least second team all nba.

Would be hype if he made the first team though after getting snubbed last year

There she is!!! Do you get notifications when I post lmao? When we get bounced you’ll start hearing chatter about him potentially wanting out. If we don’t make the Finals in the next two seasons he will demand out. These guys don’t want to waste prime years in a small market like Boston if they’re not competing for championships.
