I don’t know much, but I do know, that if Tatum gets cleared anywhere near the start of the playoffs, he’s going to play. I don’t know the future, I know that Tatum if anyone, is going to fight to be out there any chance he can. Once the doctors say go, there is no holding back.

So, going by what you say, you’re counting on the doctors saying he won’t play. Except his own surgeon isn’t even as pessimistic as you.

Sure. Let's ramp him from 0 to 100 for a useless playoff run. What could go wrong?

As I said. Some of you are in strong denial about the absolute **** situation we find out self in.

Use the year to clear the tax burdens. Brown will break down now that he has to be the undisputed A for the year.

Might as well go for that top 5 pick. Warriors did that when they came into injury concerns and turned it into another title they shouldn't of had.

It'll be ok guys. Gonna need for you to be patient and not demand we go for the gusto next year.

I’m not trying to go for the gusto, I’m simply not counting the season as a loss just because you are.

Now, it also hinges on the moves Brad makes, but even then, I won’t count us out of playing well enough for Tatum to come back.

I’m not even sure they could keep him out UNLESS we miss the playoffs entirely. This is Tatum we’re talking about, the same guy who missed less games than anyone since his draft, IIRC.

If Brad doesn’t do something drastic, I’m not betting against a JB led team in the regular season. They could pull off a top 4 seed and I wouldn’t bat an eye. Look at what Cavs did only to become duds in the second round. We don’t even need to be nearly that good and get top 4. The last 2 seasons we have been very good without Tatum, even if we aren’t as good as that record we’ll probably be looking at top 4/5ish.

Again, this hinges on the moves Brad makes.

I agree. The defending EC champs will be without their best player. Giannis is another year older. Gotta get through Orlando and NYK to make the finals, and who knows what other injuries could pop up.

Anybody but the **** Lakers (maybe toss Miami in there, too) is good by me.

Porzingis for Reaves and Knecht works for me

Ha. Totally. That, I would do in a heartbeat. No idea about the salary implications. Would that save us money, which is the main objective? I like the players coming back, though.

I think there would need to be a 3rd team. If BOS and SAS trade directly, SAS has to send back like $23M

What could a contending team part with that keeps them competitive and satisfies the Celtics wants too?

It doesn't make sense to say that Stevens didn't get the best deal possible. Clearly this is the deal he finds the most valuable.

Simon is on the move anyway.

I will continue to say, even as great as the Jrue trade was, it's not a win-now move. We are not contending next year. Reset this thing by moving, at least, JB. I'd move White as well. HOU still has young players and future picks. I'd look out for them to ask about White.

I'm not moving White for anything short of a haul. And only if they're commiting to the tank.

Agreed, has to be a full tank.

I think HOU would part with; (not sure your criteria for "a haul"

Jabari Smith
Reed Sheppard
Cam Whitemore (love this guy!)
2027 PHX pick, no protections
2027 BRK pick swap, no protections
2029 PHX pick swap, no protections

Maybe they consider Amen instead of Smith, but I doubt it.

‪Bobby Krivitsky‬

A foot injury deprived Kristaps Porzingis of playing for Latvia last summer. He then dealt with post-viral syndrome in the playoffs this year. Fortunately, he says he's feeling much better & is looking forward to competing at EuroBasket in August.

A good amount of rumors about Jrue to various teams before the trade: POR was not in those rumors. I'm not sure it'll be any different for these most recent KP to LAL, SAS, and so forth.

Sounds like KP is on the way out tonight.
The most charitable interpretation is that it's ethnic cleansing and massive war crimes.

My first thought when seeing this, is it's good as a signal to other teams looking to acquire Porzingis. It could add bidders and increase his value.

Yeah, 3rd team or future deal. Don’t necessarily have to do it all tonight. Get Barnes and see what the market looks like, if Simons sticks around, how the draft goes, etc.

The general NBA fan in me wants to see KP end up with the Spurs so we can have a twin towers team next year.

KP to LA makes a lot of sense though. I doubt it puts the Lakers over the top, but it might be a risk they are willing to take, and Boston can get some assets back. Knecht would be a nice fit in Boston. Then Sam can get traded. Dalton is an upgrade.

Got all worried and riled up for nothing. Teams will always want to trade for good, winning players. Despite the length of Jrue’s contract, it was on a decent AAV. KP remains a very skilled big when healthy and is on an expiring contract. The worry that teams would extort assets from Boston was always overblown. And even then, they already brought us a championship! It was all worth it. I thank them for their service and wish them well on their next chapter (if indeed KP is moved too).

Yeah KP needs to be shipped. Decent player. Made out of glass. With him its all about luck. So far any team he has been on he's been out. Thanks KP but dont let the door hit you on your way out.

I guess it would be Keldon johnson and their trash players that have team option.like branham and wesley, but it would be better with champagne instead of just fillers.

You don't need to punt the season away but I'm giving you the spoiler in June 2025.

They ain't getting beyond the second round at best.

You expect advancements to stay the same as 6 years ago? KD was 30, JT turned 27, 4 months ago, had the surgery 2 months ago so he was practically 26.

I don’t expect anything, In just not ready for son and gloom well before we know anything!

It makes zero sense for a dude coming off a major injury to ramp up for the playoffs where he got his injury in the first place.

Tatum will be back by next playoffs I'm sure. He will be coming off the bench and minute restricted.

Why put him and his Achilles under the pressures that you're talking about? For what purpose? They're not a championship roster right now.

our roster is far from complete, let's see how it all plays out.... Achilles return range from 8-10 months depending on the severity. Still a ton of talent on this team and JT comes back around Feb/Mar. Time to reload not rebuild

The fact the Simons deal isn’t happening until the 6th does hint to me the deal will be expanded and KP/Simons will be sent elsewhere

I don't think anyone truly believes they're competing for a title next year. If they are then they're being ridiculously optimistic.

What happens in 2 years time? No Jrue, no KP, no Horford? Brown in his 30s, Tatum 29, White pushing 33.

Where and how do you expect for them to add the pieces to this team to move into championship contender quality? They can't just add guys in free agency, between the Jays and White they're already pushing up on the cap as it is and Boston isn't exactly destination City here.

So where are they going to get the assets to get the trade for the players needed to make the run?

I just don't see it.

That would be a good deal.

Forget about Amen tho he is pretty much untouchable in HOU we have no way to get him.

They'd probably part with Sengun first.
