How is saying that he tried to trade up but couldn't but still liked the guys he drafted making "excuses?" What do you want him to say? "We had a miserable draft?"

It's because as a former Bruins fan, Peter chiarelli used to use that excuse all the time and it got him fired. The price was too high, it takes two to make a thread BS.

That's not an excuse, though.

General goddamned principle. Taking a guy that has NO chance of making the team over a guy with at least some potential. Kris Clack over Ginobili comes to mind. He might stay in Europe? So? Still no worse than Clack or a 6th string pg like Thornton. Wtf was the upside of Jr giddens. Since thinks he's a damn genius finding these diamonds in the rough who still only have the upside of a 12th man.

Here is a suggestion for people trying to stifle other people's opinion. Let them vent. It's very clear people are mad. It's okay to vent and get it out of the way. You're not changing anyone's mind by trying to change their opinion right now.

You're pessimism and world-is-ending philosophy when even the littlest of things go wrong or are even rumored to go wrong is too much sometimes. For example the "Lakers and Kings have framework for Cousins" news the other day had you spewing the same pessimistic **** when the very article that it was from stated the Kings were talking to other teams as well.

I'm glad Ainge tried to move up. I think he probably made the right move if the asking price did indeed get crazy.

On to FA and trades now. Still plenty of assets to work with.

Try changing other people's mind, and see how it works out. I'm done responding.

Did Christian Wood go undrafted? There must have been some serious concerns regarding character.

It's not an excuse it's a reality. They felt that the cost to move up was too much. You don't get fired over that.

This is just an awful pick. I believe it shows that Ainge is still gun shy over Euros. Stupid, no way this kid makes the roster. Should just draft a stash and let that team develop a potential big. Not only that but this kid is a Senior from William and Mary! Don't care about measurables, 40 times, push ups, pull ups, dreadlocks, it is a piss poor pick and Ainge deserves all the criticism in the world for it.

I'm shocked that Cliff Alexander and Christian Wood didn't get picked.

I'd invite Upshaw to summer league. Bet he gets interest from at least a few teams now.

Right on man. You are the best poster on this board. Period. We need more posters like you not less. You were 100 percent right and now it's time for people to eat it. Tough ****.

Funny part is, as much as I agree with you on a lot of things, I'm really not even that negative. Gave 100% support of everything Ainge did right up until the trade deadline.

But we **** up. And you are right, we have a team full of "ham and eggers". I still think Ainge is doing a good job, and glad he didn't panic tonight, but we are definitely on the verge of becoming a role player factory right now.

Unless two stars collude to take our cap room next week, we set ourselves back big-time the last few months IMO. And seriously, why would two stars collude to do that given their other options?

Tonight was quite possibly a very important crossroads for the direction of this team.

I hear ya. Us pro-tankers are every bit the fans as the anti guys. Maybe some of us, like myself, go too hard on the negative scale and ride Ainge too hard......but it's probably just to even out the over the top homerism of the Ainge apologists. He isn't a bad GM but he sure as hell isn't a great one either. The one flaw in his plan is he is banking on another team to flip him a star for his "assets" and totally ignoring the fact that the one thing he can control is his own draft pick and he has failed miserably at tanking correctly the last two seasons. Tired of the excuses. This roster is still too good to land a Top 5 pick next season and still too bad to sniff a run in the playoffs. No man's land. We are on the fn treadmill. Sick of the "rah rah" talk from the homers. Call it like it fn is.

Anti-tankers are just bloody awful. We are in NBA hell. Deal with it.

FWIW
Thornton tied Anderson and Green Bay's Kiefer Sykes for the second-best vertical jump at 43 inches, an inch behind Connaughton. His standing vertical of 34.5 inches trailed only Anderson's 38.0 and Connaughton's 37.5.
