Damnnn Ainge has **** this up real bad. Just shouldve taken Mcdermott and Turner.

But that would put his trader danny reputation at risk. Making fair trades?!!!

Dont get me wrong Ainge is a great GM. But since he got the big 3 and after he fleeced Billy King he started to become even more aggressive. He never compromises in trades, sometimes you have to take a little hit in a trade for the better of your team.

You have to realise that when you school GM's other GM's in the future will try to school you and he fell for it.

Danny has never adjusted to the fact that the players run the league now and he's still operating on his old school methods where he can just sit back, play on house money and check every hand til a royal flush comes along. If he didn't get a massive reality check with how the AD saga played out, he never will.

So if Ainge had matched Charlotte's $30M/120M offer to keep Hayward in Boston, thereby hard capping the team for the foreseeable future and exposing the franchise to the repeater tax, would everyone here be singing hymns of praise for Ainge's commitment to winning at all costs?

As soon as MJ was willing to overpay, Boston, Indiana and NY were out of the picture. Kudos to Ainge for doing the sensible thing and not wasting two roster spots on Turner and McDermott. Timelord can do everything Turner can do except jack up treys at under 35%. I guess I'd rather have Tatum, Brown and Walker taking those shots instead of Turner.

Except play more than 5 games straight without being hurt yes

By my count I think Ainge is onto Plan H already having gone through Plan A-G

Still waiting for someone to explain the error he made today. My understanding is that free agents can sign where ever they like.

Reports are that Hayward wanted to go to Indiana and Indiana was willing to deal Turner. Ainge could have moved Turner for an asset or 2, if he didn't want him.

The question is what else was Indy asking us to take back? Twitter reports are twitter reports. They don't go from grain-of-salt to rock solid the moment the deal happens.

For example, what if Indy wanted to send Turner, McDermott and Leaf? Well, now we have to pay the tax or pay to move some of that salary, further reducing the value of the package.

There's a threshold there where you're willing to risk Hayward walking, if the value coming back just doesn't amount to enough. The GM who always takes the safe deal does not win a title.

And I'm not really blaming anyone for not seeing 4/120 coming from freaking Charlotte.

We lost this round. But, as always, hindsight is 20/20. Until we know what was actually on the table (which we probably never will), it's hard to conclude really much of anything.

By moving Kanter and Poirier, I don't think they would have hit the luxury tax by adding those 3 guys, and I can't see Turner being difficult to move for assets.
