I like Doumboura, but I also liked Khyri Thomas coming out of Creighton.

ha ha me too! I think who drafts you and where you go plays a much bigger role than people realize. Thomas had to deal with the same situation as Sekou. Drafted by an interim G.M. who had no power, a coaching change to a guy who doesn't develop young players, for a hapless franchise that had no idea what it was trying to do. Once you lose that initial momentum after being drafted and a new regime comes in it's nearly impossible to break through. New G.M.s want to win with their guys. New coaches don't have time to develop young guys as they're trying to win and are usually player's coaches and agent favorites who play vets even if they're less talented. You need a change of scenery and major injuries to ever get another chance. Talent sometimes plays a backseat to circumstances. We gave guys like IT, Crowder, Baynes, and Theis their 2nd, 3rd, sometimes 4th chance and it paid off. How many players fall through the cracks like Thomas, Wood, Grant, Sekou, etc?

I mean, in a handful of starts last season in HOU Thomas put up 16-4-5 with great defense. Clearly he's talented. But HOU immediately went out and drafted Green to play SG and Thomas gets dropped. It's insane.

Yes, I think there will be a number of interesting reclamation projects hitting the waiver wire over the next two weeks. We'll just have to see what Stevens does with that open 2-way slot-- and with Jabari Parker's roster spot.

As for Crowder, I think Stevens gave him his first real chance. He was in the same situation in Dallas as Thomas was in Houston. Later, Jae was just an unfortunate victim of the Irving trade. I wish he were still a Celtic.

LOL

Very good sign that Horford will play in back to backs. He did not play in back to backs last year in OKC.

Obviously Kemba didn't play in back to backs for us last year and it hurt us for 2 big reasons:

1) Not having one of your best players for a significant amount of fames obviously hurts your chances of winning

2) Here's how Kemba's season went last year. Miss the first 10 or games. Then plays like 6 games, then sits out the next one. Plays 5 games, then sits out the next one. Plays 4 games, then sits out the next one. And so on. Not only is that hard for Kemba to keep his rhythm going when he is missing 1 out of every few games, but more importantly it messes up the rhythm of all the other guys on the team. Tatum, brown and the rest of the guys - they play one way and have a certain gameplan when kemba is in there but they have a different gameplan and play a different way when he sits. So they had to constantly adjust roles and who is supposed to do what, never really getting any consistency

I was worried that it would be the same thing all over again this year with Horford - glad to hear it won't be the case.

Rather than having him sit back to backs, I'd much rather just watch his minutes and not let him average more than 25 mins a game.

Al is getting up there in age, and has had some injury problems. Rob as we should all know by now, has tons of injury concerns. That's why I say, you play both of them 24 mins a game each. Then, in case of injury, foul trouble or matchups, you have Kanter.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

It's as if the media grew up as the only child. Let me tell you if a stranger had to look in and see how my bros and I interact they would swear we hate each other! To this day we argue and talk crap to each other one minute and be best friends the next! We grew up together and don't like many things the other person does, we live separate lives. Thank god we didn't grow up with cameras and eyes seeing and judging our every interaction! I want my bros to be the best they can be, but I'll be damned if I let them beat me in spades and if they do (cheat) they are dead to me until I win the next game!!

I hear that.

That's a good point, too. They operate more like family, than co-workers. Smart, included.

Crazy to hear. Still confused at how/what they actually did. How did they fabricate false claims/medical treatment?

KEY FACTS
The former players indicted include notable names such as Tony Allen (who was named to the NBA All-Defensive Team six times), Darius Miles, Ruben Patterson, Jamario Moon, Sebastian Telfair and NBA champion Glen “Big Baby” Davis.

Allen’s wife, Desiree Allen, is the only nonplayer charged.

The defendants allegedly engaged in a scheme from 2017 through 2020 to defraud the NBA Players’ Health and Welfare Benefit Plan by submitting fake reimbursement claims for medical and dental services that were never actually provided.

The false claims amounted to more than $3.9 million, with the plan paying out $2.5 million.

Terrence Williams, 34, who played for the New Jersey Nets and the Houston Rockets, was the scheme’s ringleader and provided the other players with false invoices, according to prosecutors.

The FBI arrested 16 of the 19 defendants Thursday morning, prosecutors said at a press conference Thursday afternoon, adding that the investigation remains ongoing.

KEY BACKGROUND:
All 19 defendants, including the 18 players, have been charged with wire fraud and participating in a conspiracy to defraud the NBA’s health benefits plan. In addition, Williams, whom prosecutors called the “linchpin” of the operation, has been charged with aggravated identity theft for allegedly impersonating a plan employee to pressure a fellow co-conspirator. Over the course of three years, Williams received $230,000 in kickbacks, the indictment claims.
