Barnes $22-big wing that can defend up or down. Having a good shooting season.
Gordon $18-super athlete who can defend bigs well, rebounds well and can run the break as good as anyone.
T. Ross $13-hot and cold shooter but can get nuclear hot and carry an offense for stretches
Sterling Brown $vet min. Having a good season with additional mins. Could a swap of Teague for Brown and a 2nd rd pick get it done?
Rudy Gay $14-old vet who can score in different ways

Guards
George Hill $9-battle tested solid vet whose good in all phases.
Paddy Mills $14-scoring spark off bench. Can fill it up
Delon Wright $9-long G who can defend and has been better shooting lately in career.
Lonzo Ball $11-awful this year but could use a change of scenery.

Would love Tucker and Gordon . Is Gordon possible though ya think?

I think its possible. I dont think it will come free. I think a protected 1st and a player. Maybe Naismith and a protected 1st or 2 seconds. He is having a down year and getting towards end of his contract

Get me Otto Porter on this team for the TPE. Would be a terrific fit next to the Jays.

After the Oladipo/LeVert trade the Pacers are now 4 mil under the luxury tax. Jeremy Lamb has now played 4 games after missing 11 months tearing both his ACL & MCL. In 4 games off the Pacers bench he is averaging 16.8 ppg and 4,8 rebounds in 25 minutes, after the Oladipo/Levert trade, with LeVert and Warren out for a couple more months the Pacers have no desire to trade Lamb, he's signed thru next year for 10 mil a year not a contract that needs to be moved

I think the probably of the Pacers and Celtics doing a deal in the next 3-5 years is pretty close to 0%.

Doesn’t look like Pritchard and Ainge particularly care for each other

Nope, Ainge was out of Boston 02-1989.

Pritchard signed w/ Boston 10-1991.

Never played together anywhere else either. (At the NBA level, anyway. Who knows who gave who an elbow to the chops in a pickup game once upon a time.)

The frustrating part of these two blowout wins is coming off the bench the only guy with potential is Nesmith lol.

These are games where you want to see your young guys but instead Celtics have Teague, Semi, Javonte, Nesmith, and Carsen Edwards lol.

You have 2 legit stars (JB and JT), borderline all start this year (Kemba), 1st team all D and great 6th man (Smart), and a solid center rotation. Sadly this team still has a horrific bench and didn’t replace Hayward.

I honestly feel like they’re 1-2 small moves away from having a legit chance at the finals. Don’t even have to use the TPE this year but I’m talking just trading a first for a legitimate scorer or packaging some of the average bench players and a 2nd round pick for a useful 7th or 8th man

I mean realistically Javonte shouldn’t even be in this league and yet he’s getting 15 mins a night. Celtics need serious upgrades on the wing and bench as they currently only have really 3-4 guys who handle all the scoring responsibilities

I want more solid vet help for the playoffs but I'm still not sure who I'm ready to ship out to add someone.

Who is everyone sending out? Still Semi? Javonte? Carson? Nesmith shouldn't have been in this anyway, he hasn't had much of a shot yet and he has the exact profile of what we need. Pritch isn't getting traded for a vet! At least 1 guy has to go if we bring in someone.

Maybe no one. I was wondering what players might be bought out come All star break. Then I remembered hearing about A Drummond. I don't think he would be any kind of major upgrade for us. Maybe a little. But I was thinking Ainge might consider him for no other reason than keep him away from Brooklyn.

There may some be some other buyouts as well. May have to cut the great Tre Waters, but that seems like something Danny may end up doing.

Waters is a two way, I think you have to be 2-3 years nba or less for someone to be signed that way, he doesn't take a slot from anyone.

I'd send all 3 out for a vet then use the room to look at the buyout market.

We don't, nor do we need him.
Good assessment:

SMTBSI wrote:Barnes seems to make more sense with every passing day.

- He hits the three well enough.
- His age is fine - he should have no problem providing value for the remainder of his contract.
- If he's even overpaid at all, it's only by a little. Not enough to really matter.
- His salary is big enough that its not going to be an easy acquisition for every team, so we may not be bidding against every team in the league.
- His team should be looking to sell soon.
- We're one of few (if any) teams that can offer SAC a TPE for his full salary.

Only question is is he worth going into the tax for? If not, one of Theis or Thompson has to go, which is problematic for a couple of reasons.

- Though we think we have a Center "logjam" right now, we won't feel the same way when we only have two playable Cs left and one gets injured.
- If the outgoing C gets sent to SAC, it reduces the size of their incoming TPE, which might make them ask for additional compensatory value.
- If It's TT outgoing, we lose the ability to easily match another large contract with Smart + TT. Essentially, Barnes would be costing us the opportunity to take in not one large salary, but two.

Now, if we decide to go into the tax, a lot of those problems go away. Just take in Barnes, and keep TT, preserving the opportunity for the 2nd acquisition down the road.

I'm all for expanding it and getting Bjelica and Whiteside. One stop shop. Gives us the wing we need, stretch 4 we could use and reinforces the C depth after sending out TT.

Probably cost us Nesmith/TT/Edwards. Ideally I'd push for TT/Grant/Javonte/Celtics 2021 FRP. Might not even need to pay that much given how much money overall SAC saves and there being a limited market for all 3.

Let's say we send out TT/Grant/Edwards and some seconds or our 2021 first we'd have:

We'd have:

Kemba/Pritchard/Teague
Brown/Smart/Javonte
Barnes/Nesmith/Langford
Tatum/Bjelica/Semi
Theis/Timelord/Whiteside

Really like that starting unit and we end up with more scoring off the bench plus a banger for better C matchup against 7 footers.

We'd be stacked.

I'd lean to starting Smart over Barnes, but no need to debate that now.

Doing the trade this week would be selling low on Grant and Carsen, but there's time to fix that before the deadline.

Uh, can Bjelica play center?

Not really. He's 6'11, but has played more games as a SF than C...

Against small ball lineups probably. He's a stretch 4 though. Think Kelly Olynyk without the hair.

San Antonio is a playoff team at the moment so I'm not sure if they're looking to move anyone if this continues, but if they falter and have a fire sale I'd be 100% interested in Patty Mills. He's a tough, tough competitor that seems to play at his best when it matters. He'd be electric off the Celtics bench as a microwave offense guy.
