Re: 2019 NBA draft
Man Bol Bol sounds awesome but he’s not slotted high. Is he that bad on defense? He can’t possibly be 208 at 7’2.

Watched UNC a ton last season and wasn't impressed by him. Often out of control, poor shooting form, not a good defender, not great vision.
****, we know we’re getting him lol.

20 & 22 could get us in the 15-18 range, I think, if we were consolidating..

I don’t know where 14/16/Jaylen or 20/22/Jaylen would get you..

A Top 5 prospect out of high school. If available at 14, or even 20, a draft steal on the potential.
He can play defense. Clarke, Bitadze, Hayes, Bol, the elite shotblockers in the draft, for blocks per minute.
Bol also scored more per minute than all prospects but Zion.
Bol rebounded more than the above players. Someone will say Bol can't defend because a little guard runs around the perimeter in front of him? Doesn't matter as he will block a bunch more shots the guards attempt when he is a help defender near the basket.
If the Celtics get Bol, can't complain. Not many 7-2 players who can hit 3s with ease, dribble the ball and block shots. Plenty of risk, but lots of outcomes where he wins games and makes a team better with his height and shooting.
Can now recognize you again with the proper little picture by your name.

But is he brittle? That's the reason we're talking about him in the lower half of the draft.

Re: 2019 NBA draft
It’s not just about defending guards, he’s 208 pounds right now, he’s not going to be able to defend stronger players, he doesn’t look like he’s going to keep up with the complexity of NBA defenses, it’s very likely his rebounding doesn’t translate because he’s so thin. He projects as a three-point specialist.

I hope the C's can snag Bitadze. Bol's durability is what I question.

Easily the most upside this side of Zion.

Re: 2019 NBA draft
The best case for Bol, I guess, is Porzingis with less rebounding and lower defensive IQ.. and just as many health risks.

Except Bol at a similar stage has more skill than Porzingis and excellent basketball IQ. Off the top of my head 36.3 PER in college only 2nd to Zion and a top 3 player out of HS.
Absolutely no way to tell how the health situation will turn out. We got 3 picks why not?????

Re: 2019 NBA draft
I didn't see excellent basketball IQ in his 9-game run, especially on defense. And you're talking about a player who was a reed-thin 225 at Oregon and is now down to 208 pounds. He weighs less than Luol Deng did when he entered the league. Less than Nicolas Claxton, who's three inches shorter..

Re: 2019 NBA draft
It appears that the Celtics are bringing in Jalen Lecque for a second workout. Jalen is an interesting combo guard prospect. He has a max vertical of 43".
I have to say that Danny and Co do work hard in the draft evaluations. I look forward to seeing what Danny and Co do on draft day!

Going off of nbadraft.net and to a lesser extent stats:
Little is quicker and more explosive, plays with a more consistent motor, and has better strength. Hoard is strong and athletic, but isn't as fluid as Little, and isn't the specimen that Little is. It sounds like Hoard may have better instincts on the offensive end, but he is as TO prone and his skills aren't as polished. Neither guy is a good three point shooter, but Hoard shoots a lower percentage and also has a slow-ish release.
Still, it is curious as to why Little is considered a lottery pick and Hoard is not considered a sure thing to be drafted.

That last part was my point - Little gets the benefit of the doubt for having "upside", Hoard doesn't.

Re: 2019 NBA draft
I'm channeling my agent towards Sekou and Lecque(trade up for Sekou, get Lecque at 22 or 20). Maybe Herro.
Good assessment:
PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.

Re: 2019 NBA draft
Lecque at 20 or 22 is horrible. He is the prospect less developed and with less feel right now in all the 60 picks. He only has his athleticism going. 51 is fine, send him to the G-League. But I'm not going to loose sleep if we don't get him.
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

Re: 2019 NBA draft
I think I've pretty much made up my mind:
14 - Doumbouya/ PJ Washington / Clarke (in that order)
20 - Herro / Langford / KPJ (in that order too)
22 - Fernando / Claxton / Kabengele
51 - Jerome / Edwards / Johnson / Okeke / THT (he won't be there) / Lecque / Hoard
On second thought, take Herro at 14 if there's buzz he'll not be there at 20. You can always get the 3/4 hybrid I think we need because Tatum can't play the 4 later.
