Right now Bill Russell and Larry Bird stand above the other Celtic greats as only multi-season MVPs. Hondo, McHale, Pierce, Cousy, Cowens, Sam Jones had great careers but isn’t Tatum starting to show he is even better despite not even at the peak of his abilities? I know this is borderline heresy but people said the similar things about Larry Legend this early in his career too..

He's already better than Bird and Russell, he just happens to play in a more competitive era.

His early season struggles or feeling out will all be worth it if this recent night-to-night thing will carry over into the postseason.

Celtics are 32-1 when Tatum is +10 or more in a game.
Celtics are 1-22 when Tatum is +3 or less in a game.

In response to the title of this thread..

Pretty f***ing high.
Higher than Snoop Dogg on a weekend.
Higher than an NBA players voice after a Draymond nutkick.
Higher than petrol prices in Australia have suddenly jumped to.
And higher than I'd ever previously projected.

There are no guarantees, but there's a chance now. He could be legit, in like the 'All time starting 5 for the Celtics' sense. That ain't nothing.

Interesting development in the two-plus-month run of awesome Cs basketballing...

In the last 482 minutes (33 games) Jayson Tatum was off the floor, the Celtics were outscored by just SIX points.
That's a huge difference from the first 500 minutes (35 games) of the season (JT off the floor) when Cs were outscored by 69 points.

Nice.

Another curious development...

Tatum FGAs, Pre-ASB: 20.6; Tatum FGAs, Post-ASB: 24.3
Brown FGAs, Pre-ASB: 18.8; Brown FGAs, Post-ASB: 15.4

Tatum USG%, Pre-ASB: 31.1; Tatum USG%, Post-ASB: 34.3
Brown USG%, Pre-ASB: 29.9; Brown USG%, Post-ASB: 28.4

They're feeding the beast. Ramping up for the postseason.

(Ankle injury might be a factor in dip in Brown's #s and efficiency.)

Make that 1-23. Can't afford off nights from Tatum and Brown at the same time.

KD outside the top 10?

It's so tough to find any sort of be all end all statistic that accurately ranks the players.

Tatum is in that 8-12 range right now, imo.

Only players I'd put over him definitively are Jokic, Giannis, Embiid, LeBron, KD, Luka, Harden and Steph.

I think Tatum makes the leap to legitimate top 10 player by next season. All these others guys are gonna start falling off.

Butler, Lilliard, Trae, Ja are beneath him at this point.

As is Derozen, despite a superior season.

KD only ranks below the top 10 because there’s a lot of cumulative stats there, and he’s missed a bunch of games. Plus his defense just isn’t good this year, and that’s part of the equation. He’s had a massive workload offensively, so I don’t hold it against him. The three highest regarded advanced stats are DPM, EPM, and LEBRON. I’ve shown the LEBRON stats plenty, but the top 10 in EPM is

Jokic
Embiid
Giannis
Steph
LeBron
Durant
Butler
Kyrie/Tatum tied
CP3
Mitchell

And this picture below is DARKO/DPM, I just did the top 3 young players, then KD/Butler.

Horford in the top 30 lmao. That Kemba trade looks better and better as the season progresses.

Averaging 35/8/5 in March, on a 66% TS and a 2.6 assist to turnover ratio.

He's making a strong case for 1st team All NBA and I think he'll get a few #5-on-the-ballot MVP votes. Imagine if he started out the season strong. It's fine, he can still aim for a different MVP award in June.

Celts have a 125 offensive rating when Tatum is in without any other starter, and a +22.96 net rating, over 183 minutes.

I underestimated Tatum's actual impact, especially on defense.

Brown needs to be better for you guys, Tatum might be hitting true superstar status next year but his regular season numbers from start to end need to be unquestionable for it to happen.

It could though.
