That makes sense. Their total salary of $28.5M is within the $29.17M limit Cs can receive if Hayward's contract is $100M/4 yrs. Celtics don't want any part of Lamb and his salary though. So finding the third team might be the hold-up.

SWC suggested re-routing Lamb to NOP for George HIll but that deal w/ the Bucks isn't even completed yet.

Lambs position fits though right? Why not keep him?

Coming off injury. Plus we can get a better or equal player in FA using the MLE while also avoiding the tax.

Maybe Warren is the only real target for DA and not Turner ...

Indy would rather move Turner for GH while all the talking heads just assume our target must be Turner bc Boston NEEDS a Big ...

Turner is ok. But he is a 12 and 5 big man with shot blocking. Hayward is a much better player. We need Warren imo.

(I'm not sure whether this post went through hours ago, when I first tried. Apologies if it's a repeat.)

Look at it this way:

1. Hayward's young children and beautiful wife are going to be living in Indiana. Where do you think he wants to live?
2. But if he unfortunately has to live away from them during the season, who would he want to go to over the Celtics?

At the end of the day, they still suck.

OKC = 76ers

and yet in the last decade they've been to the same amount of Conference Finals as us and even made a Finals.

You have to pick the time frame pretty carefully for that "analysis" to hold up. A couple years longer, and we have an actual championship. A couple years shorter, and they've accomplished a lot less than us.

Assuming we get a wing since we already have Turner, Theis, Timelord, Tacko, Grant as our bigs...

Crowder, Harkless, Galloway, Bazemore, Robinson III, ET. Several others who can be had for the minimum.

If we're not really avoiding the tax, then there's no issue. Take Lamb or flip him in a trade for a better player.

And a second maybe?

And Indy is probably saying "Include Carsen Edwards or not as you want to; your choice."

Ainge is surely trying for a first, however, and might actually get a lottery-protected pick swap. Could even be one of those deals we haven't seen for a few years -- "If you swap picks, you also give us your 2nd".

Here’s what is going on right now in the Hayward discussion: Hayward wants to play in his native Indiana and he has informed the Celtics of his desire to be traded there. He moved his family back to Fishers, Ind. (About 30 minutes from Bankers Life Field House) during the team’s stint in the NBA Bubble. He has enrolled his daughters in school there.
So he has essentially broken all personal ties to Boston.
He opted out because it gives him the best chance to get to Indiana without having to wait a full season.

The Pacers have offered center Myles Turner, the centerpiece of any deal for Hayward, and sharpshooter Doug McDermott, who can’t stay on the floor consistently because he can’t defend. Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge has countered with Turner and T.J. Warren or Victor Oladipo.(...)it’s yet to be determined whether Ainge will reduce his asking price.

Robyn is basically negotiating vs a bunch of venture capitalists with the BBP, and this won't end well for Indiana.

PG: Kemba | Pritchard | Waters
SG: Smart | Edwards | Langford
SF: Brown | Lamb | Nesmith
PF: Tatum | GWill | Semi
C : Turner | Theis | Timelord

Seems like a decent team

There is no scenario where Gordon re-signs with Boston. Not because we don't want to but because he wants to move on now. Either he is traded to Indiana or he goes to New York. If he goes to New York it's because Ainge won't accept Indiana's offer which will annoy Gordo. He has Ainge on a dead-end either we accept Indiana's offer or he leaves us for nothing

If it were me (good thing I'm no GM) Myles + McDermott + 1st round pick and we move on.

Also. I get Hayward and fam back in Indy. But I also bet that Hayward and his kids will always be in Indy even if he plays elsewhere. He will live in Indiana. He wants to be there. If he can’t? His fam will be in Indy, probably near Hayward and robyn’s family.

His family doesn’t have to move with him.
