I look at it like this, if he finishes the season playing like this? No chance he doesn’t get 2nd team, at least.

I don’t think they’ll do the Jokic thing, they had the same debate last year, IIRC.

Jason Tatum looked like a superstar 1 minute into his first summer league game as a rookie and I posted it on the game thread that day - and it did not stand out because I was far from alone in seeing it. Every minute he has played for the Celtics - during the good times and down times - he has flashed hall of fame talent and skill. It’s great to finally see what most of us knew what was coming from day 1.

My biased ballot that doesn't count:

1st: Doncic, Steph, Tatum, Giannis, Jokic (MVP)
2nd: CP3, Morant, DDR, KD, KAT
3rd: Booker, Mitchell, Butler, Lebron, Embiid

Trae might be the toughest cut.

Let’s also not forget the “he doesn’t care about winning” “we should trade him” “he’s overrated” takes either. this guy is just on another level from not only any other player on this team by a large margin but most of the league.

Guilty. And you know what we could do instead of not forgetting? Forget.

Man, it's been a ride since that ECF against the Cavs on Tatum's rookie season. Happy the Celtics are back! (Although I miss Hayward, ngl)
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

Tatum's ceiling will be a Paul George on steroids.

I think as soon as next year you’re looking at a Tatum, Giannis, Embiid, Luka, Jokic as your consensus top 5 as the old guard begins to fade from prominence. Durant is still there and you have to factor in Ja as well but I believe Tatum is firmly in the mix with those guys

A championship or championships will put Jayson Tatum on Larry Bird level.

You can add Timelord on the floor and disparity gets even worse.

Tatum is already better than Paul George ever was. I’ll die on this hill.

Honestly the **** he’s been doing he’s been reminding me of Lebron. Just his overall impact is unreal it could be Tatum and 4 guys from the local church out there it doesn’t **** matter.

Tatum's ceiling is league MVP, Finals MVP, All-NBAs, All-Star MVP, etc. He's making the leap into the Top 5 right before our very own eyes. Extremely fun to watch as Celtics fans.
By the way, not to start anything, but for those on here that were down on Tatum and saying Jaylen was better, let's just move on from that permanently. Jaylen is excellent, but he's no Tatum. There are only a handful of guys in the world that are.

He’s starting to remind me of players that I just didn’t think were in the cards for him. And I’ll say this, his playmaking is FAR beyond most all nba wings in their age 23 season.

There’s a real chance he’s going to finish 4th or 5th in MVP.

It’s a shame that the MVP race was already decided by December as it is every year. It should matter that a potential MVP can let his team fall behind another team - especially a hated rival - that was 18-21 pass them with a roster that is ‘inferior’ on paper. I understand the individual stats favor Embiid and GA over Tatum but when it matters the most, Tatum is stepping up the most. I hope Jokic wins again because he is making it happen with the weakest supporting cast.

Tayshaun Prince, Rudy Gay, and Kyle Kuzma. Didn't think it was possible either but here we are.
