Jabari's chances of making the team look good

Yeah I've been thinking of Jabari as a lock to make the roster. I know he has his flaws but I think we can use a smart veteran who's a known quantity and offers a scoring punch over some young guy who may have potential but will never play enough to reach it. A guy like Parker could really help if one of the Jays misses games, or if we're just struggling to score now and then and need a lift. He's a competent, talented veteran and you can never have too much of that.

Well, if they want to switch everything on defense, they should be keeping Theo Pinson, not Jabari Parker.

I'm really happy with our depth. This is the deepest we've been since 2017. There shouldn't be any games lost because of the 2nd unit. We'll lose games because we likely play vets who are inconsistent shooters like Smart, Richardson and Schroder over Pritchard, Nesmith and Langford (knock on wood...his shot is looking much improved) and on nights Tatum or Brown aren't hot we'll struggle to score points.

Really wonder what this starting lineup will look like game 1.

I think we're 80% there with Smart, Brown, Tatum, and Horford (when he's back from quarantine, I know you specifically said game 1) but the last spot will definitely be interesting. Rob would be my first choice if I was more confident he could survive starter's minutes but that's a huge question mark. Langford's kind of my idea of next best option as he is looking like an excellent wing defender but if he doesn't keep hitting 3's at a high rate the spacing won't be as good so time will tell. Pritchard's shooting brings a lot to the table but I feel like he'll end up being the target in switches, he's a better defender than Kemba but is still going to struggle against bigger top tier players. I like Bootleg Rondo on the second unit better where his attack first mentality is a good fit. Grant might be an option to make the team bigger with Tatum at the 3 if he can hit in the upper 30%s or better again from 3 but we'll suffer a little on the boards. Richardson might be a good fit with the starters as a versatile defender and jack of all trades kind of guy. Nesmith also has a lot to offer as a shooter and top tier hustle guy but his team defense needs polish. I think it's a question that fortunately has more than one right answer (maybe even more right answers than wrong) this season.

I would think the srating 5 is either Bobby or Horfie plus Tatum, Brown, Smart and Shcroeder or Richarson

Hopeful Housr can stay, season doesn't look too bright, but with guys like Houser, Romeo and Nesmith, I hope it brings us some joy.

I have huge expectations for Juhan and The Israeli Rondo.
Good assessment:

Am I reading in too much or does it feel like Romeo might actually be ahead of Nesmith on the depth chart?

If he’s hitting from three, I’d guess he has a slight edge. Either way, I feel comfortable with either of them getting real minutes, and it seems like Ime feels the same way.

Ime loves defense, Romeo is ahead. Really, based on the small preseason sample Romeo would probably be considered ahead on offense. He's been ahead in the preseason rotation so I think that says it all, for now.

Either way, we could use both stepping up! Come through Danny, I hope you left 4 gifts (GW, PP, AN, RL)!!!

One factor in Mathews’ decision was that Boston is unlikely to convert a two-way player into a full contract this season due to their tax situation, according to a player source. Considering Mathews fills a similar role to the team’s other two-way player, Sam Hauser, he determined his best course of action is to seek at least a two-way deal with a team that has a clearer pathway to the full roster this season.

Pinson remains a candidate for a two-way, per team sources, though Stevens’ front office will continue to look around the league to see who else hits the waiver wire. Pinson played 33 minutes in two games this week for Boston, shooting 5-for-14 while flashing some pick-and-roll playmaking and a high defensive motor. According to team sources, joining Pinson in Maine will be former Red Claws Jaysean Paige, Wayne Blackshear and John Bohannon; former Cavs wing Deng Adel; and rookie point guard Quade Green from the University of Washington.

Jabari played better in preseason and he plays more of a position of need, the 4. Mathews is a wing, we have plenty of them.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

all i know is, Nesmith, Pritchard, Romeo all looking good. Grant is even looking decent.

Tatum
Brown
Smart
Rob

Danny drafted all 8 of them.

Any other team have 8 guys who are that good on active roster who they drafted?

Brad has done a great job this offseason, but we do have to have Danny credit for drafting these guys. The 2 of them are both very sharp basketball minds.

yeah i've been very impressed with Romeo's play. looks like a totally different player. nesmith has improved as well but not as much. romeo probably slightly ahead now, but it's a long season.

tbh, i think both of them are ahead of richardson, who's the same mediocre player he's been for all but 1 season. but he's a vet so ime will give him lots of chances i expect.
