HOT TAKE ALERT!

Miles Bridges has been one of my absolute favorite young players and would have loved to see him in Celtic green.

I'm having a hard time believing he's become such a scum bag.

Question: If there was a way that he could become a Celtic on a two year contract under the condition that he accepts professional help, would you do it?

No. Get over your fandom, this is serious.

One of my other favorites to sign is Richaun Holmes. I sure know how to pick 'em.

But I am serious. I've been a counselor in these situations. I want these guys to heal and not throw away the amazing opportunity they've achieved. They are young and it's not too late to learn and change. It's hard to break the stigma though.

This is still alleged, he deserves his day in court.

With that said...

I don't want his world to end forever, I hope he finds gainful employment AFTER he's paid his time and gotten help. I just don't think it should be on a team I cheer for. I believe in rehabilitation, I believe those people deserve to make a liveable wage again after they have paid their dues and gotten serious and lasting help. I just think part of their dues is the loss of the life as they knew it.

I'm not even talking about money, just the privilege of being an NBA player, who is a role model. I use to think people needed to raise their kids not to follow or look up to any old person just because they are rich/entertainers/stars, but then I realized there are so many kids out there without someone to guide them and who have no parents/terrible ones, mentors, or caretakers. Adults struggle with not idolizing stars, what can we expect out of kids.

Nothing. I believe that the message being sent through the media is that the TPE will expire because they don't want to pay the tax bill associated with taking on the salary.

Brogdon was already our TPE acquisition without using the TPE.

Pretty sure Jalen Smith won't take the vet min. Bryant , it's been reported is willing to take that, and it's supposedly it's between us and the Lakers. With the moves we've made today, how can anyone look at those 2 teams and think they would have a better chance at a ring going with the Lakers.

There is some nostalgia draw as the Lakers were his original team. And, it's LA.

Btw, Bryant would be a fantastic option at center a wild card(3rd string). That would complete the off-season. Just sign Hauser and Begarin(1 2way the other to a min-type).

Yeah, I've definitely mentioned a few times over the years that I like him. Watched more of him than most draft prospects. He's hustle and shooting. Not bad athleticism. Has bulk. Struggles on defense. Not a high level rebounder. Definitely a guy who can drop some points for you if he regains his form and decent health. Not a guy who likes standing still, that's been the biggest allure for me.

Our insistence on making and keeping Smart the PG, even after acquiring Brogdon, is concerning. Smart is still going to be getting late game minutes and his three point shooting will still be deciding games. Having a guy making $23 million sitting on the bench is not going to make sense. And if they DO sit Smart he'll start whining about it and that will create a locker room divide. I don't trust Ime to balance this effectively. That's why on paper these moves seem perfect but might not be great in actuality.

I think it's better to start Smart for a few reasons:

1) Should ALWAYS have at least 2 of Tatum/Brown/Brogdon on the floor together so you've got two 20 ppg type scorers out there.
2) Should NEVER have Smart and White out there as it's a very non-complimentary pairing.

Accomplishing both of those goals becomes way easier to facilitate with Smart starting and Brogdon off the bench.

So basically you want White to split 48 minutes with Smart as his backup? And have Brogdon be the primary backup for both Jays?

Yeah, pretty much. I'd probably do this in the regular season:

PG: Smart (27), White (21)
SG: Brown (20), Brogdon (28)
SF: Tatum (33), Brown (13), Gallo (2)
PF: Horford (6), GWilliams (24), Gallo (18)
C: RWilliams (27), Horford (21)

Tatum/Brown - 33
Brogdon - 28
Smart/Horford/RWIlliams - 27
GWilliams - 24
White - 21

Neither one of those players is likely to take the vet minimum. I think the Celtics will have to trade for a big. What's a few million more in luxury tax? I'll chip in and buy a few bottles of Wyc's tequila.

The other issue is that if you sign a young guy on the vet minimum and he does well, he's gone in a year.

Doesn't sound like an issue, sounds like we got our money's worth (maybe more). Are you saying you wouldn't take that one good season because they'd leave for more the next one? It's the vet min, you're hoping/praying to get one good year.

Yep, and can rebound, shoot the 3 pretty dang well for a center. He's kinda underrated, too, depending on health.
Brad has shown that he has them cohones tho, so I wouldn't be shocked.

Seems like they won’t use the TPE which is dumb but Wendell Carter Jr would be the perfect guy to target and replace Al in a few years. Doubtful Magic would give him up without a haul but damn

I don’t like that. If they’re offering scottie + salary filler + picks, that’s gotta be one of the best offers. If no scottie and the other vets like siakam and og they have, then it’s meh.
