Love is a top 20 player who solves the 2nd scorer and rebounder problem. Who in the hell do you want?

Does that mean they want to get rid of Love? I'm not sure it does, but if so then bye bye AB

I'm guessing they might accept the deal if they're getting Melo & AB.

I think something needs to be taken away from Cleveland to make salaries work (X player would go to NY who can adsorb salary in this trade)

C's or NYK would have to take Shumpert.

Ok, so at least we know the Knicks still want a lot for Melo, which means that the Celtics are out of the running. You know Ainge isn't going to give up anything of value for the guy. Sounds like Melo and the Knicks are going to be stuck with each other.

Which I think leans toward him getting something done by the trade deadline. Lots of rumors meant no deals last year. Less rumors and hopefully a deal gets done this year.

I don't think the presence or absence of rumors correlates to the likelihood of a deal being done.

There's always planted stories of when GMs are trying to deal for someone. Leaks or absence of them can definitely be a telling point. Usually, the leaked rumors don't come to fruition and the ones never talked about prior are the ones that get done.

Love is the ultimate 3rd wheel. Love shines because of Lebron and Irving. Love just makes the Celtics the old Atlanta Hawks.

Ainge needs to find an alpha like George, Butler etc. Love isn't it

I know you really want a trade but you are engaged in wishful thinking if you think no rumors = better chance of a deal.

Crowder has better analytics than George.

Nah, didn't make a call either way. I vehemently denied the possibility of Durant until he set a meeting up with us and then I flipped, Horford stuff came up quickly after that and didn't have time to make a call.

FWIW I also vehemently argued against Dwight coming here, and also explained that Ainge would never bring him here (believe it or not, half the forum wanted him last year). He didn't.

If you're Kevin Love and you see the headline:

"Knicks Approached Cavs On Carmelo Anthony For Kevin Love Trade"

What body part do you injure?

You want it to be serious enough to squash any possibility of that trade, but not too serious so you can be back in time for the playoffs. Maybe a shoulder injury? Make it seem chronic/related to the KO-inflicted one?

Actually, a Love injury is the one way it could happen, like Ratliff/Mutombo.

Long term, Howard wouldn't make us a championship team, but overall his contract isn't bad and if he was on our roster over Zeller and Amir right now, we'd probably be right there with the cavs in the standings.

Horford and Howard would fit well. Why the Hawks wanted him to stay with Howard and shipping out milsap instead.

Sure. He's not on the same tier as Butler though.

Love has had good advanced stats on a bad Minnesota team and a very good Cleveland team. No idea what will convince some of you that he's very good, and he fits with Horford, Crowder, Smart and IT.

He fits IT, AB, Crowder, Horford even better. The problem is he doesn't move the needle much. He is not an alpha. Celtics need an alpha type like Butler

this is sort of a retrospective trade topic, but I'd like to go on record saying I'd rather have this guy than the Kelly Olynyk:

How does Love prevent them from getting Butler?
