Reunite Stevens and Hayward. Give him the Jeff Green $$ at the end of the season. 4-years 9-10 per. Jefferson comes off the books. Hopefully Celts have 1 of the top picks and can land Wiggins or Parker. Let's say they land Parker.

Thats not bad if it was done last season....(Big Al Jefferson) and not Richard Jefferson...

I dunno?.... But if Green continues to struggle and it's appearant he just dosen't have the nuts to be the team leader or go-to guy, then maybe that would be a half-decent swap for us?

I watched the Utah TV affiliate the other night and all the time out commercials featured Haywood in some way......With this sort of god- like worship surounding him, I would think the young man is an untouchable trade-wise....Though Utah, just like our beloved Celtics, is searching for some sort or respectability...(or are they?)......They also blew a lead late with the wrong group on the floor....

That's a steep price to pay for Hayward. Is he any better than Jeff Green? And throwing in Bradley? Ouch.

I know Bradley looks terrible as a PG, but his defense is still off the charts and he's got the offensive game to be productive off-the-ball (transition scorer, cutter, corner 3 shooter).

Hayward is a ton better than green and more of 2/3. Can score for all over the floor.
That may be a steep price though?, I would think you could replace Bradly with Crawford or even Go Green and Lee.
Utah was unable to sign an extension with Hayward...unclear to me if they plan to match any offer sheet or would look to trade him so they get something?

I think if they do go after one of the restricted free agents they should do it like NOP did with Evans. Get the cap space, make an offer the other team doesn't want to match, then send out an olive branch or two to make it happen like the Pells did with Lopez/Vazquez. In that case, move Green for expirings/picks/rookie deal guys and then make an offer sheet for Hayward. Rondo/Bradley/Hayward/Wallace can cover the 1-3 slots, especially if J. Parker is going to take over for Wallace in that rotation in a year or two.

It also would have to mean that Williams stop being average and Shabazz straighten out his act.

Williams reminds me of Green, in that there's a lot of aspects of his game that are nice in a vacuum, but when you put it together the whole is less than the sum of its parts.

So even if Williams doesn't stop being average, he's just a lateral move from Green who is being average, with some upside and a lower price tag.

I'd just look as the trade as a Green-Williams swap, with Muhammad as a throw-in to be honest. If you think Williams is more valuable than Green you can do the trade and just cut Shabazz.

I honestly was looking at it the other way where you would take on the expiring money of Williams who I do not think is as good a player as Green but a guy you can take flyer on to get Shabazz who is a player with excellent potential if also a lot of baggage. Your dumping Green's salary and going full rebuild with this type of deal.

Green when he's on is a very good player. But he's not always on. I think we're getting to the point with Green where we just need to accept him for what he is. An inconsistent, streaky complimentary player. He's a tease. There's no one rooting for him to be more than that then me. But sometimes we just need to face reality. I think Gordon Hayward is a better fit to a rebuilding team that's looking to win Banner 18 inside of 5 years. He's young (23), he can play the 2 and 3. He's a Stevens guy. He shoots and spaces the floor well. My guess is that Ainge would much rather pay Hayward than Bradley. Jefferson comes off the books...So he Hump, Bogans, Crawford can all come off. And I think it's safe to assume that Ainge can find a taker for Bass and/or Lee. Wallace might be tough, but who knows. He could be a guy that gets waived. Seems like he could be bringing people down. Bashing the team. bad body language. clearly doesn't want to be here.

Rondo/Hayward/Parker or Wiggins would be a sick trio in the backcourt and wing

2 deals I'd like to see.

Green/Bradley/Brooks for Hayward/Jefferson

Bass/Lee to Pistons for Stuckey/Charlie V

Then Waive Wallace and pay him spread out over however years it takes.

Re-sign Hayward...extend Rondo long-term..

draft a blue chipper (Wiggins or Parker hopefully)

Rondo/Hayward/Parker/KO/Sully/Faverani/NETS pick and THAT'S IT. Cap space beyond that. That's how you rebuild.

of course a lot goes into that....luck, teams willing to deal, etc. But that plan right there is a good one

Not a fan of trading Green for Hayward it doesn't fit the team well and while Hayward is a better passer than Green and maybe a little better 3 pt shooter that is about it and he apparently is going to cost you more to make you worse athletically and defensively. I would be okay with adding Hayward to Green and Rondo but swapping them is spinning your tires.

I'm ready to move on from Green. Not seeing how he makes the team better. I'm going all Presti now... I just don't think he's a Championship player. I'm trying so damn hard. I'm rooting for him, sure. This is his opportunity to show what he can do and he's playing worse then he was last season! And last season he frustrated the heck out of me.

maybe you're right about spinning wheels. and i guess it would be smart to see how Green does once Rondo is back. So I'll hold off and take a step back.

Green with the right team, I think would be fine as a teams 3rd or 4th best player. He is just miscast as a number 1 option or even as a strong number 2 option IMHO.

So, I actually think Green is a championship player in the right situation but he isn't good enough to keep given the Celtics should be rebuilding and logically speaking it will not be a 2007 like turnaround. There is no need to keep the Green and Rondo's and watch them age when the Celtics really need to dedicate all of their recourses to getting better number 1 and 2 stars.

Green may be pretty good with Memphis. And Memphis might not be that good 3-4 years from now so perhaps Green for Prince and another player making about a million and a future pick like in 2016 that is only top 10 protected.

I feel like Brandon Bass would look great in purple with the Kings. He's a pretty good defensive 4 that can stretch the floor for Cousins. He also seems like a workhorse type in game, might help change that culture even more.

I'd try and trade Green for Asik.

Green would be a good fit as a stretch 4 in Houston. Gets them back to playing fast break basketball and Howard's strength will cover Green's weaknesses as a 4. Green also is in his ideal role as 3rd or 4th best player on the team.

We get the defensive anchor and rebounder we need. If we could land a top SF in the draft we'd have:

Rondo / Craw
Bradley / Lee
Wiggins / Wallace
Sully / Bass / KO
Asik / Fav

That'll get you into the playoffs next year with a ton of room for growth.

Rush Returns to Practice

Post#192 » by 165bows » Tue Nov 5, 2013 10:37 pm

A day after participating in a full practice, there is buzz on Tuesday that Utah swingman Brandon Rush could play in his first game since tearing his left ACL on Nov. 2, 2012.

Looking at the big picture, whether Rush plays tonight or in some upcoming game may not matter a whole lot -- the Jazz will have a hard time winning regardless.

Rush's greatest value to the team this season may in fact be as a trade chip. The 28-year-old is an unrestricted free agent after the season, and if he can show that he's back to his pre-injury form he's a player who figures to be highly coveted by contenders.

"Rush is a high-level wing defender who is also a very good 3-point shooter. A torn ACL early last season has kept him sidelined for almost 12 months, and teams will be looking to see if he has retained his lateral mobility and explosion. Once he is medically cleared, expect Utah to start to showcase him, using his length and IQ on premier wing scorers in the league to drum up his value. Rush definitely can be a contributor to a team with aspirations of winning in the short term, and owns a very reasonable, expiring deal for $4 million."

Between he and Afflalo being out there, no chance that Courtney Lee fetches anything more than a fart in the wind in trade this year. :banghead:

I can see Houston having some interest in Bradley & Bass considering they got ran off the floor last night by the Clippers last night, and don't have much @ the pf, and start 2 centers.

You're jumping to a pessimistic conclusion. Two points from that blurb:

1. Rush may NOT still have his explosiveness- although ACL recoveries are getting better.
2. He's expiring, and while that gives him trade value, it also increases pressure on Utah to buy him out and let him sign with anyone, and that can depress his trade value.

And Lee's looked decent so far this year. He's much better and more aggressive when he can dribble a little around the top of the key, instead of standing still and watching Rondo.

Well, it's certainly pessimistic. I wouldn't call it jumping though since it took me a full year+ to slowly slither off the Lee bandwagon. I would say he's at least fourth on the list of guys behind Afflalo, Rush, Turner, and then maybe he is after that. Hell, even Louis Williams could possibly pass him by the deadline. He just makes some egregious turnovers and hasn't been able to shoot his weight from three before Christmas two years in a row.

Aski & Lin have poison pills contracts, so iirc Boston would owe them $30 million next years. Seems Boston should get more from such a deal. Maybe send Houston Bass instead of Bogans and get some picks and Parsons from Houston.

See through the madness for a moment and it will soon make sense. This is what Ainge is doing...

-He wants to trade at least 2 of the Bass/Lee/Wallace contracts. In exchange he's looking for expirings and hopefully a pick or 2. Even 2nd rounders.

What we all need to understand is that trades do not happen over night. So what Ainge is doing is showcasing those players. Meanwhile, players across the league will start going down with injuries. Example #1 is Tyson Chandler going down last night for 4-6 weeks. Knicks suddenly become a potential trade Partner.

Ainge doesn't need to showcase Hump right now because he doesn't have any intentions of moving Hump right now. And teams will take Hump back either way because he's an expiring contract and useful player. So Hump doesn't need to play up his value the same way Bass/Lee and Wallace do.

Priority 1 is sending Bass/Lee and hopefully Wallace (although I suspect Wallace is stuck here unless they waive him or take back a bad contract)

-Priority 2 is developing young players while losing games. you want to compete, but lose. If that makes sense. this team is built to compete and then lose in the 4th quarter. That's what happens when you don't have a PG, shooters or a guy who can create and make big shots.

So have patience. Bass/Lee/Wallace need to go. At least 2 of them. Ainge wants to get a better handle on the cap situation.

Hump is a big time trade chip. So you keep him and wait for a potential blockbuster at the deadline OR if a team with injuries comes calling you can get a 1st round pick, filler and young player in exchange for Hump believe it or not. He has value.

My exact thoughts on Hump, and the rest really.
Bass is definitely a flip to a contender option - and those trades won't happen until the deadline.
Wallace could be, even with his deal, if he plays up to it.
Lee is tougher, not sure contenders would be lining up for him until a bunch of other options go first.

I think Danny's priorities at the deadline are:
1. Grab a disgruntled or otherwise available all-star as a key building block.
2. After #1 happens, or if it's clear it's not going to - jettison some longer term deals as above.

Hump is key to #1 - big, matching salary other teams wouldn't mind taking back. No need to play him to establish that. Then sweeten with picks, young player assets - you got a pretty good deal for the other team.

If that fails, Danny can go unload Bass\Wallace\Lee as possible.
