12 million a year is not bad actually, gives them the opportunity to overpay other mid level free agents...

Nets and 76ers are probably the only teams where he would become the starting PG.

If Lin is starting at PG...that is good for us IMO. They are going to sign somebody and this is the type of player I am glad they are signing.BPM -1.1, RPM -0.83. :)

I wouldn't be surprised if by returning to New York City, there's huge side endorsement money in it for him.

It could be a decent move for Brooklyn depending on what else happens. Most likely it's just a neutral move though. Lin has his nights, but he's a guy you want to upgrade from if he's your starter.

Opportunity to start and play big minutes, if I had to guess. He wouldn't have that chance on a playoff team. He's still in his prime so he could ring-chase later on in his career. And his "fame" began in New York after all.

The way I see it, he's better than Larkin and Jack. That's a flat out improvement at point. Could easily mean a few extra wins. Not good for us.

Exactly they were always going to sign some guys and Lin was as good a bet as any.

He's an upgrade at PG but the big question is how much do they spend. $70m, $80M or $90M?

I'd bet one of the first two options and that they go for some savings.

Just as a value guide: If Lin was on the Celtics, how much playing time would he get?

He'd definitely be behind Thomas, Bradley, and Smart. Probably he'd be battling Rozier for 4th guard minutes, wouldn't he?

Maybe not, but list the Nets' starting 5 and you'll feel better.

Not a bad move for Brookyln. He's a player that puts up points and that can temp folks to at least show up to a game. We knew they would put together a hodgepodge of overrated or misfit players this year and attempt to goose up their trade value later on. Thats the only move they can play. They weren't just going to do nothing.

This sucks, he's a solid player that won't mail it in. He's gonna cost Brooklyn quite a few losses.

Lin's been done dirty throughout his career, makes sense for him to go somewhere where's he's guaranteed to start and get big minutes.

I'd say he adds 5 wins to their win total, so bad for us. They won't be able to defend well but between Lopez and Lin they're going to be able to score a little.
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

Nets had the least competition for filling the point guard position, and still held no attraction to the clear #1 guy.

This isn't a bad deal. A truly bad deal would have been signing Rondo. But Lin is a fringe-starter. They improved the position, in the sense that they didn't have any point guards on the roster, but they still have a ton of work to do and this more or less brings them up to where they were before trading Young. In other words, still a bottom 3 roster, and it figures to stay that way even after they add a couple more role players and force them into starting roles.

Rockets going hard after Baze too. If money's equal, my bet is he's joining Houston or staying in Atlanta.
