We should trade for Pierce and have him mentor Brown, and hit one last game winner in the playoffs. Ideally to beat the Cavs in game 7 after Love and Kyrie were hurt, right in Lebron's eyeball.

Re: The (Where Ainges Fear to) Trade Thread, 2016-17 (1.0)
So lets see...Westbrook don't wannt to stay in OKC and wanna play in LA. If he wants to win, then its Clippers, not Lakers...
3 team trade:
OKC: out Westbrook
in Smart, Hunter, Young, 2018 Brooklyn 1st, 2019 Memphis 1st, 2019 Clippers 1st, 3 second round picks from C's
LAC: in Westbrook, Jerebko
out Griffin, Wilcox
BOS: out Smart, Hunter, Young, Jerebko, 2018 Brooklyn 1st, 2019 Memphis 1st, 2019 Clippers 1st, 3 second round picks
in Griffin, Wilcox
OKC lost Durant for nothing...this time gets former Oklahoma State star Marcus Smart, 2 young prospects in Young and Hunter and 3 first round picks, two of them could be lottery picks...its a lot more then they get for Harden
LAC gets another superstar...LA child who would re-sign there
BOS gets Blake Griffin for 3 young players and 3 first round picks...but keeps 2017 Nets pick...
Thomas/Rozier/Jackson
Bradley/Rozier/Wilcox
Crowder/Brown/Bentil
Griffin/Johnson/Mickey
Horford/Olynyk/Zizic
Could this team beat Cavs? I think so...

There's only one statistics that's important: who won...Bill Russell

Hey Celtics fans, wondering what you think about the prospect of the Bucks trading Monroe to Boston so Milwaukee has cap space to sign Wade?
Seems like we have a deal on the table with someone since the meeting is back on for this afternoon.

Fine as long as Middleton comes along

Ha well sorry but can't see Middleton heading out to sign Wade considering he's actively recruiting him.

Monroe's sort of an expiring right? With that player option.
But I don't really want to recreate the Amir/Sully dynamic with Horford/Monroe.

I think at this point there won't be any major trades. Celtics will just pick up the options on Jerebko and Johnson.

Ainge will pull something off today.

Because we always hear well in advance any trade Ainge completes.

I know he's going to opt out anyways, but I wonder if he'd waive the PO for a trade here?

I kinda like the general framework, but don't think we have to give as much up to OKC due to Russ being a rental. That's a huge haul for them. Also not sure LAC wants a Russ/CP3 backcourt. Reddick swings up to 3, Jerebko at 4? Could work, definitely keep one of Russ/CP3 on the floor at all times. But, a lot of need the ball in their hands guys esp when you add Crawford in.

If we offered our brooklyn picks, Jaylen Brown and threw in Marcus Smart and other young guys, I bet we could get it done.
For a one year rental? Sure. Then what?
Westbrook was born and raised in Long Beach, just a few miles north of LA propoer. He played his college ball in LA. There are two teams there, not just one, and the Clips are decent. As a couple of other posters have said, if Ainge gives anything close to this kind of assets for a rental, he should be fired on the spot.
I'm not giving up a shot at drafting Harry Giles or Jason Tatum for a rental. And I don't want to watch Westbrook hog the ball any more than I want to watch Harden.
I feel the same way about Hayward. No trade unless he agrees to an extension. In Hayward's case its more likely.
Would be silly, we aren't competeing with the Golden boys with Westbrook and he probably won't have a super long prime because his athletisim is such a huge part of his game. Rather develop the kids unless we have some other big stars joining Westbrook somehow. If KD had stayed in OKC...probably a bit of a differnt story. Much harder to become a contender now than it was on Sunday is the sad truth of it all.

Dont see the point in trading for westbrook of griffin right now when they will be free agents next year and theres a chance they could leave. Not trading unless theres an agreement of 2 years or so

So Chicago is building around Butler, yet signs rondo and about to sign Wade. Butler could be on the move

Wiretap says they could move Gibson or Dunleavy (or both?) to fit Wade. If Gibson is an expiring, I wouldn't mind him for a year.

Both players fill short-term needs (need more shooting/passing on the wing - Dunleavy - and another rotation-quality big - Taj). Not that I'd be super excited to add more just-decent roleplayers to this team.
