Stevens likes Marcus because he is a team first kinda guy. Makes hustle plays - gets people going - has leadership qualities. His offensive game though is not to great - compared to either Rozier or Brown. Not sure you can keep Smart with Rozier and Kyrie. Again if Smart gets alot of great offers - likely gone. Brad liked Crowder and Bradley for the same reasons he likes Smart.

This really bums me out. I know their aren’t many teams with a lot of cap space but if anyone offers him more than 14 million I highly doubt Danny matches. I’d even agree with that as much as it bums me out, Smarts my favorite player but we can’t pay everybody. Hopefully he agrees to 12.

I have a very very hard time seeing a team offering him that this summer. His shooting numbers were really bad this year and got even worse in these playoffs. I understand he makes winning plays and is a phenomenal defender, but I have a hard time seeing any team (especially with the lack of big money this year) offering big bucks to a guard that cant shoot and really hasnt shown any growth in his shot in his career. These are his shooting numbers for the year.

regular season:
36/30/73 48 TS%

playoffs:
33/22/75 44 TS%

Have a hard time seeing someone offering up big money for a guard with those shooting numbers.

A garbage team would be crazy to pay him that much.

Smart to me is suited to a contender or a team wanting to become one like Philly. On lesser teams his impact would be wasted.

It would suck if he does leave for money, but long-term I think we’d cope okay as long as Hayward and Irving are fine.

I think he wants to be the 2nd/3rd best player on a team if he wants that kind of money, and if he is that team is not gonna contend.

The issue with Smart though is good teams either dont have the money or are looking to add more shooters not less. I dont see too many good teams wanting to add a non shooting perimeter player. Then I dont see a bad team offering him big money because hes not really a lead guard type of guy, or a guy that can put up empty stats that might help fill the seats.

The lack of shooting and offense in general I think really kills his value. Andre Roberson got a 3/30 contract last summer. Smart brings about 4-5 more points per game (worse efficiency) and 3 more assists, while Roberson brings more rebounds and I think some will look at more valuable defense because of his size to guard 2-4. I think 3/30 will be on the high side on what Smart might get offered.

I'm ready for a Twitter video saying : "Smart improved his shooting this summer", and you will see Marcus making five 3's in a row.

He will take QO imo...

Danny should not offer more than 9-10 mill imo.

Mle will be 8.3 mill...that any team can offer.

But I highly doubt Anyone will offer more than max.12

He is not wort money he wants!!!

4 year 44-48 million is maximum Danny should go...even that is to much!

Sometimes I love the guy and sometimes I want to help him pack his bags. Ainge has been pretty good making decisions. I trust him.

I've been off the Smart bandwagon for a long time. I'm not interested in someone playing 30 minutes a game who is allergic to buckets.

Good luck to you Marcus, I'll miss your fight, but that's about it.

He's making the decision easy for Danny Ainge.
He wins us games through his #winningplays, but he also shoots us out of games.

Actually I want some back.up guard change. Consolidate Rozier for a cheaper back.up like FVV.

Smart on Indy would be a good fit. Next to Oladipo he’d be a nice fit. Love to see him here’s but I guess money Andrew time will tell.

I think we should let him walk. He does some really nice things on defense but is too one dimensial. You don’t pay someone 12-14 with this many holes in their game.

Think he takes the QO, nobody will offer him that much money.

I’ll telling you Ainge and the Celtics are going with Rozier, Irving, Brown, Hayward and Tatum.

Smart’s time is up.

I give credit to Smart for realizing this his probably his only opportunity to get paid. Smart will never make more than his next contract because he simply isn’t that good. Credit to Smart for knowing this.

Smart is very much like Evan Turner in that regard. No one is going to pay Smart more than his next contract. I wish him well. I hope some team gives him 4 years and $60 million as long as it isn’t the Celtics
