Let's take a look at Kyrie right now...

We lost Kyrie, Al horford two of our starters, and they are suppose to be a championship team all because of Kemba ok.

What the celtics have are three all stars, Kemba, Gordon Hayward who is overrated, and is yet to live up to his contract. Two all stars and two potential all stars in Tatum, and Brown. That is it. Good luck winning a championship with that.

You win with star players, and they do get the calls from the refs. The team is going to be competitive for the next four years, but they are not winning a championship. Winning/building a championship team is hard, but i feel like they don't have that team yet.

The next championship is 8-10 years away. After Kemba's contract runs out. The kemba move is to keep the team competitive and a business move. The NBA is a business at the end of the day. A competitive team, 3rd or 4th seed because the east is weak, but a first or second round team. They might even be a second seed if Kawhi leaves because the east is that weak.

Dont have bird rights on Bropez. Lost Mirotic. George Hill waived. Despite reports of them trying to get him back he might be gone.

Leaves Middleton, Brogdon. Hope they lose at least Brogdon. If Raps lose Kawhi, Philly lose Butler East is wide open for the Celtics.

I hope Jimmy Butler or even Kawhi won't consider them. They can have max cap space easily.

Bledsoe - Brogdon - Butler - Giannis - MLE FA lineup would be quite scary.

Alternativelly they could also try to sign someone like Cousins for around 17M per year while resigning Middleton. If they can trade away Ilyasova or Leuer for cap space they may also target Vucevic while keeping Middleton.

They still have ways how to be really good next year.

Kawhi is leaving a championship squad in a beautiful city..Butler doesn't want Embiid in Philly..who the hell is signing in Milwaukee?? They should consider themselves blessed if they get Brogdon and Middleton back.

I'm happy with the replacement of Kyrie for Kemba. Similar production and obviously a much better fit (low-ass bar but still). Also, the kid is DURABLE. Say what you will about his size, but Kemba has missed 6 games in the last 4 seasons... absolutely incredible.

Kyrie missed 15 games last season alone and that was a relatively healthy year for him, with his well known history of knee problems. Health is one area I haven't seen much talk but it's significant.

So swap Kyrie for Kemba and the only big loss going into next year will be Horford who I respect and admire but almost must admit is on the downswing. Making a big money 4 year commitment to him scares me and I'm cool with moving on.

Kemba/Smart/Brown/Tatum/Hayward is a damn solid core to be building around, and if we add another big man or any of the rookies pan out, all the better. My big hope going into the offseason was that we pick a lane (viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1857684) so I'm glad to see that we did that by bringing in a true star and not a 2nd or 3rd tier set of scrappy vets. I'm excited to see how the rest of FA plays out!
