Re: Last Train to Celticsville Trade Thread
Tatum is the Celtics' biggest trade asset. Why isn't he being moved along with Brown?
My head says that these two will NEVER be the core of a championship team. Even if you brought in Beal as a third star it wouldn't be a championship team. So, if you are what your record says you are, trade both of them. Any other course of action confirms that the franchise isn't championship driven.

Because a 23 year old star with Super Star potential gives you a chance. trading away your only TRUE star gets you farther away not closer to winning it all.

Oh baloney. They are 17-19 and our two "stars" have regressed. They beat Phoenix yesterday because Smart, R. Williams and G. Williams played their butts off. Brown shot 33% from beyond the arc and turned the ball over 6 times. The team was just as good with Brown on the bench.
The only reason not to trade Tatum and Brown is that other teams are seriously lowballing the Celtics, which wouldn't surprise me at all given how poorly Tatum and Brown have played this year.

Trading Tatum a 23 year old all nba top 15 player with top 10 or higher potential while under contract for 4 more years would scream “ NOT CHAMPIONSHIP DRIVEN” louder than anything. Just a moronic idiotic thing to do that will never happen.
It literally would blink “not championship driven ” like bright neon lights on a field of white snow.

Re: Last Train to Celticsville Trade Thread
It’s really funny and at the same time in ways refreshing to see many people here suddenly say Jaylen brown is 25 years old and no longer an “up and coming player” or he’s stagnated when there’s been people like myself and others who said this in the offseason and got skewered for it and called haters.
Or the time we tried to trade him for an mvp top 6 player. Lol. Anyways......you don’t trade brown just to trade him which some of these deals are.

Re: Last Train to Celticsville Trade Thread
Let me start by saying I am not for giving up on three under 26 yr olds (Tatum, Brown, Timelord) in which two avg. more than 20 pts each, and the third just had a tripple dubble with 5 blocks, esp. since we have them all locked up for another couple years. So, with that out of the way:
Richardson has found his game, and I want to keep hiim around, period.
If Smart will play like he did in the Suns game the rest of the season, then I gladly keep himoff the trade block. That remains to be seen if he can do that. I'm talking about not jacking up 3's that are totally out of the scope of the play, FWIT.
Horford is the only vet presence that works for thias team, but his age is showing. Keep him until the summer, and see what he can bring along with the 17 mil TPE.
I think the young guys (G. Will, PP, Langford and Nesmith) are going to be fine, given consistant time on the court.
That's your 10 man rotation IMO, going forward. Freedom can stay as insurance for Horford and Williams. No trade value anyway.
That leaves decisions on 4 players left. It just so happens that they are all free agents at seasons end.
Must do list;
Trade Hernangomez and a 2nd for a fake 2nd to get us under the lux tax. I don't care about Wic's money. but it is easier to do business in the NBA if you are under the tax than over it.
If we are not going to resign Schroder this off season, then trade him at the deadline for what ever you can get.
Would be a smart move to do:
If we are not going to play Parker, then trade him, again, for anything you can get.
Bruno is fun to watch, but is clueless on what to do on the court. Move him out.
I would much rather have ISO Joe, even at his age, along with Josh Jackson as deep reserves, than Hernangomez or Bruno. I would like to see more trade ideas involving Hernangomez, Parker, Schroder, Bruno and 2nd round for anything we can get.

Trade Jaylen Brown
And watch him flourish on another team!
And lose one of our most efficient payers.
And say goodbye to an articulate face of the franchise.
And miss his annual growth.
We could get a much older star!
We get a pupu platter of pieces to replace him.
Maybe some questionable player on another team would make us forget about him
Why the hate?
Why the loyalty to Smart over him?
Tatum has more talent and yet….?

I'd honestly trade Brown for Simmons Maxey and Thibulle. Not sure why Philly would do it but that would be a solid deal.

People don’t want to trade Jaylen just to trade him. Smart doesn’t have Jaylen’s value, and Tatum sure as hell isn’t getting dealt.
It’s not hate.

I also like Pelle over Bruno. So, if I could, I would move Parker, Bruno and Hernangomez for Iso Joe, Pelle and Josh Jackson for the remainder of the year.

Sam Cassell would have to give up his assistant coaching gig to become the PG.

Re: Last Train to Celticsville Trade Thread
Tatum and Brown are the two best players on a team that was 41-41 last year and 17-19 this year. But whoi knows? Maybe next year they will improve to 42-40!
LOL, we will begin to have endless discussions about how the team is "wasting Tatum's prime" and how he's going to demand a trade. I'm not sure if we are the Anthony Davis Pelicans or the Damian Lillard Timberwolves, but either way, we are light years away from a championship. This team has to be shot in the head like a lame racehorse.

I confess to being an antagonist at times. Other than a few 40 or 50 point games, what makes Tatum untouchable? Yet, Brown is imminently, more so? Tatum has had more putrid games.
Personally, I wouldn’t trade either of them. Yet, one is always respected. And the other continuously disrespected.

I would probably start with one is better at pretty much every single aspect of basketball and then go from there but that’s me....

I mean, there’s a reason Tatum is universally considered a top 12-15ish player, and Jaylen is considered 25-30ish. That’s a pretty damn big difference, Tatum also is rated infinitely better by advanced/impact stats. Then you take into account that he is two years younger, and that’s why one is considered much more untouchable than the other.
We absolutely shouldn’t trade Jaylen for a subpar package, but I think you can trade him for a similar level player at a different position, and it would improve the team.
Also, 90% of this board is antagonist. Welcome to the club, that I am very clearly a member of lol.

I remember 2 players, everyone would consider being better than Tatum and Brown, barely making the playoffs/lottery when they were young.. good thing their team did not give up them..
Jordan and Pippen, most of the Jordan's 1980s career.

I was virtually begging Danny through the screen to move up twp spots and snag Haliburton. He would have been a nice add to the Jays, but not so much as a replacement for Jaylen (the best player in the deal).
And I still wonder if the Celtics even tried to move in that draft. #14 + #26 (+ future 2nd?) for #12 might have gotten it done. Pritchard or Bane would have been there at #30. But no, we had to trade #30 away just to get rid of the French dude in red shoes.
Same, and I wanted to pay the price for Jrue also.
