Or, how many guys on the last year's championship team could you count on to score? Or on the 86 Celtics team? Always found it fascinating how people expect teams to have 6-7 players who can reliably score.

I mean, Denver was definitely better in this department last year. Top end scoring was much better with Jokic and they had KCP as the one major rotation piece who was below average scoring volume (which imo is <15 points/36 minutes or thereabouts). They also had their bench guys Braun/Green/Jordan but they played less of a role than the overall Smart/Horford/RobWill group did, plus Grant. And as much as I’ve defended Kornet he’s another very low volume guy.

And based on the moves the team has made I’d say they thought is was an issue.

That’s not the point being made….at all.

Still, Joe is going to have to figure out how to get something out of SOMEONE OTHER THAN his Top 6 guys. He's got all season, but he's got to figure out a way to get contributions from his 7th thru 9th men, WHOEVER THEY TURN OUT TO BE.

An alternative perspective:

Pts. + Rebounds + (0.5 x Assists) + Steals + (0.5 x Blocks) - Missed FGs - (0.5 x Missed Free Throws) - Turnovers - (0.5 x Fouls)

+29 Derrick White (36 minutes)
+23 Jrue Holiday (36 minutes)

+19.5 Kristaps Porzingis (30 minutes)
+19 Jaylen Brown (33 minutes)

+15.5 Jayson Tatum (41 minutes)

+3.5 Oshae Brisset (14 minutes)
+2.5 Sam Hauser (10 minutes)
+2.5 Payton Pritchard (13 minutes)

+2 Al Horford (25 minutes)

Team Total = 116.5

You post this formula after every game, but I can never figure out why an assist would be worth half a rebound. What's the reasoning?

Over the past 20 years, I think I've answered that question in detail several times. However, at this point, I really believe that the answer is self-evident. If you don't see it, well ...
