Re: Celtics Stung! Loss vs CHA 11/20
Holiday hits 2 free throws the Celtics win in Charlotte
Aldama hits a wide open 3 the Celtics lose in Memphis
Barnes hits a wide open 3 the Celtics most likely lose in Toronto
It's just the way the NBA goes. The Celtics could easily be 3-0 or 0-3 the last 3 games. The Celtics came out of it 2-1.
Celtics on pace for a 64 win season. The sky is not falling.
Celtics need to get back on track and start playing better. That includes everyone.

Re: Celtics Stung! Loss vs CHA 11/20
The loss stings becasue they were up like eight with two minutes left.
But bon the other hand it was the second night of a B2B, third game in four nights, fourth game of a road trip against a rested team on a home stand. Its a classic "rest loss" scenario.
Hell, you could see it with Tatum. Started off scoring31 on like 14 shots. Scored 14 on 13 shots in the second half. Couldn't do anything but throw up threes by the end.
The C's are really good, but they aren't a 70 win team. They will lose some like this.

Tatum took as many shots at the rim in the 4th quarter as he did the entire first half.
He just went 3-5 at the rim in the second half as opposed to 3-3 in the first half.

Re: Celtics Stung! Loss vs CHA 11/20
Brown is paid like an upper echelon superstar but he’s never truly played like one before.
Consistency.
Consistency.
Consistency.
That’s the mark of superstardom. Can stars have bad games? Sure. But Browns inconsistency is mind boggling. And it just proves that he has never been a true star player. He’s simply not a good pair with Tatum. They don’t feed off of the other and too often it becomes a game of my turn/your turn. Could have traded him for Haliburton a couple years back I’m sure and Tatum/Hali would be an unstoppable pair.
Not much we can do now as Brown can’t be traded until the summer but this is a square peg/round hole situation I feel. I know it sounds negative but I’ve watched these two every game of their careers and when they are both clicking it’s beautiful but it’s a rare thing to happen lately.

Re: Celtics Stung! Loss vs CHA 11/20
My Mom has become a big Celtics fan. She hasn't been able to get my Dad to spring for League Pass yet but she watches all the national games and even follows the live stats when she can't watch. And we talk about it a few times a week on the phone.
Anyway, twice this season I've talked to her on the morning before a Celtics game and said I had a feeling the game that night would be tough and we could very well lose it. The Wolves game a few weeks ago and the Hornets game yesterday.
I know we should have spanked the Hornets on paper but I dunno, I thought the C's looked pooped the night before and weren't playing their best ball and the road trip might catch up with them. I figured if the Hornets offense was cooking we might gas out in the end.
And of course we lost last night and also lost to the Wolves. (Our other loss was to Philly but losing to Philly is like a once in a lifetime event so I don't know who could have predicted that one lol.)
So basically what I'm saying is the loss last night is on me and I really need to stop talking to my mom before games.

Re: Celtics Stung! Loss vs CHA 11/20
Sure it was a bad loss. Any time you're up 9 with 2 minutes and you lose it's a bad loss. Against a bad team makes it a little worse, but this game won't matter if we win a title in June. If anyone is bringing it up then as some kind of "Yeah, but..." then shame on them. If we don't win it all in June this game also won't be the reason why as it'll be whatever happens in the playoffs (5 effing months from now!! lol) that'll be the reason why. I'm not saying games now don't matter, but in 82 you'll have games you lose you should have won and games you win you had no business winning. You've got scheduled losses and rest games for us and the opponent that all complicate things, but still ultimately don't matter in the end. Watching OT I couldn't believe we let it slip away, but if you can't let it go shortly after then pray, meditate, get a hobby... or a second hobby if you need.
Also Lamelo is pretty good but dude pushes off a lot for a skinny guy who never gets called for it lol.

One more personal note that no one cares about haha...
I hate making this stupid postgame thread when the game is close lol. I actually end up missing key action to some extent because as the clock is winding down I'm busting ass trying to write something suitable for how the game might end up before I know how it will end up.
Like last night I first made a thread for a basic C's win. Then when JT starting going nuts I changed it to a big C's win. Then to a slight win where we didn't play well but survived. Then a loss obviously.
It's getting hard enough to think of thread titles for the same teams over and over every season, let alone having a title that reflects how the game played out. And then I actually have to write something in the post beyond just the title. And I'm looking for tweets of highlight plays in the event we win. Etc.
I see some posters wanted this to be as AOS but honestly I was exhausted by the end of the night and didn't even think of it lol. Thank you for reading my personal note that no one cares about. I will persevere!

It’s just not even worth discussing to me, as he can’t be dealt until summer, which is frustrating.
All I want is for them to win a title this year, so I’d like Joe to have a tough talk, and use Jaylen properly. Also, I’d like for him to be a good three point shooter for the first time in three years or whatever. The cycle here will just keep going, he will score 25+ sometime in the next few games, and a few posters will say he’s improving every year.
What sucks was he was actually used really well against the Raptors (home and away) and Knicks in both games and I thought he was buying in for a little bit. And then he did that vs Charlotte.
It's like I've said before, he's the MPJ of this team. He can't be the reason this team fails. If he is, he has to go. MPJ was reigned in enough that it ended up being ok.

First off, appreciate what you do.
Just a suggestion… People just need a thread to post in right after the game. Maybe have something generic ready for a win and another for a loss. You can edit the title and content later so you can enjoy the game too.

MPJ is just too different though. He sucks at dribbling but that's about the only quality he shares with Jaylen. MPJ is 6'10 and is a great shooter. He doesn't need to struggle as much as Jaylen does just to get a shot off. MPJ at his worst from within 0-3 feet of the rim (.767) is Jaylen at his career best (.765). MPJ works as a low usage, low turnover, low passing play finisher because he possesses the qualities of a play finisher. Jaylen Brown frankly doesn't.

MPJ had some of the worst shot selection in the league for years and not only sucks as a dribbler, but as a decision-maker as well. Denver the entire playoffs had him coming off screens and basically never let him run a pick and roll with Jokic, someone who's impossible to fail in pick and rolls with. And he still struggled in the finals.
Jaylen has to play this role. It sucks that we paid him what we did but this is the only way this team is going to win a title, that or Jaylen plays like he did with the mask last year the whole season.
Also Jaylen is a fine play finisher when he's not forcing layups over 2 people all the time. We've seen him succeed as a cutter

Just go with "that was a close one!" and leave it at that. If it's a blowout, well then you were being sarcastic.

Do you think there is a coach that can get Jaylen under control for the two months of the playoffs or do you think he's totally ungovernable for any length of time?
If you do think he can be controlled, do you think Joe can do it?
These are the questions I'm thinking about.

First off, I don’t think Jaylen ever purposely plays selfishly, I really don’t. As hard as I’ve been on him over the years, that’s one thing I’ve always believed. I think he wants to make the right play most of the time, he just struggles processing plays, and when that happens, you just fall into doing what you know best.
I don’t think Joe is the guy to coach it out of him either, Jaylen has continually said that Joe doesn’t want to limit what he does, and gives him more freedom than any other coach has.
I’m also going to just see what happens, and hope Jaylen figures it out. I think they could move him even if they win a title, tbh. So just need to hope his finishing and three ball can rebound, which I’m only confident in the former.

I wanted him traded last year or for Dame. His contract is absurd especially since he cannot dribble, is a TO machine and had a terrible BBIQ. I get people have bad game but this is his line for the past 2 games.
25 points, 10-33 shooting, 1-12 shooting 3s. I mean come on, this is what 300 million bucks gets you?
JT was lighting it up last night and I was literally thinking "JB isn't going to like this because JB wants his." and we saw the results the rest of the game.
I doubt anyone will trade for him with his contract but if Boston can somehow sucker someone in I would love to see him replaced by some solid role players.

There may be times when Jaylen struggles to process plays, but there are so many other times when Jaylen doesn't even make an effort to process anything. There are have also been times when he has shown an ability to make good, quick decisions in accordance with what was best for the team. So he is clearly capable of that.
I guess it may be possible that Jaylen has insecurities regarding his ability to process the floor, and he resorts to what is easy which is looking to score and improvising if its not there. But there are also a lot of occasions where you can just tell that Jaylen sees other teammates scoring....and instead of looking to feed the hot hand he's thinking "My turn!"
Smart was sometimes like that as well, and now that he is gone Jaylen's the one weak link preventing this team from playing as a team. Maybe that's not a matter of Jaylen being selfish and more a matter of Jaylen being human and seeing an opportunity to live out dreams, but if he wants to win a chip he needs to get over that bull**** and ideally maybe needs a coach that will encourage him and help him to do so rather than treat him like a kid who can't be told no.
I don’t think Joe is the guy to coach it out of him either, Jaylen has continually said that Joe doesn’t want to limit what he does, and gives him more freedom than any other coach has.
I'm not disagreeing - I personally think that either Joe needs to be fired or Jaylen otherwise needs to be injured for me to feel good about our current team. But Jaylen got inline and was part of something great early last season when Joe was making an effort to use everyone to their strengths and Jaylen was starring in more of an off-ball role. I'm not sure if that was Joe's plan or if it's something Ime's staff had planned before Ime got canned. But its proof that Joe can rein him in if he wants to.

The refs aren't to blame for the dumb mistakes our team makes but this was still frustrating to watch. They can even adjust the clock but decided, "nah, let's just all go home", the same way they didn't call Embiid stepping on the baseline in our loss to the Sixers.

What's clear is how bad Joe is, these numbers are undeniable. White, PP, Banton, JT and Kornet should be our starting five.
