Tall shooters who can play team oriented ball are essential in our system. And having one on a rookie deal is a good option if we need to move Hauser for money reasons.

Maybe..but we just drafted Scheierman, who's 6'7". Karaban is only 1" taller at 6'8". I'm not sure Karaban would add much more than what we already have in Scheierman. Plus we still have Hauser..and Peterson at 6'9"..

I think Karaban has a solid 4 inches on Scheierman in standing reach which might not seem like a big deal in this era positionless basketball but I think it's enough to make them players that aren't totally redundant.

Also Karaban is more of a pure shooter IMO.

Definitely interested to watch Scheierman develop though. Probably the reason I'll follow the Maine Celtics games this year.

As a 2nd rounder I'd be totally fine with Karaban.

I really like Boogie Fland.

I'm drafting or trading up or down for him:

7-2 Big Z from Arkansas is an intriguing prospect in terms of shot blocking, steals and 3-point-shooting. He's not much of a rebounder, but seems like he could develop into a Middle Class Porzingis and the Celtics have had success with Croatian Big Men.

Good game today for djfan's guy, Tyrese Proctor.

He's been really shooting it well. Even though he struggled to shot as a freshman. Just goes to show, that some guys really benefit from staying in school and developing more - so they are more NBA-ready when they leave college and therefore have a better chance to stick.

Still not sold on him being a 1st round pick but he's definitely worth a 2nd round swing, at least.

He's got another year of college eligibility though, so he might stay in college another year..if he's not guaranteed to be a 1st rounder.

Either way, he's been playing well and pretty much looks NBA-ready..part of the appeal is being able to play on ball as a facilitator PG who can also shoot..but he's also been playing well off ball..as a catch and shoot guy and attacking closeouts.

The defense is passable..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

It was against Wofford, but I'll take it. :) Shot looked smooth (in the highlights). He's not quite officially my guy yet - more the idea of my guy if he keeps improving. 2nd round for sure at this point, but hoping it'd be a steal there. If he keeps improving might play himself into 1st. There's a lot of mouths to feed at Duke, though.

I’m sure S2N posted about this guy but I’m not sure we were fully notified he was a card carrying zero neck team member.

Apologies, I would have mentioned it earlier if I had known it was a relevant criteria for drafting players. In any case, he'll be long gone by the time the Celtics are on the board.

Besides, the French guy I want the Celtics to draft (or more likely sign as an UDFA) is Maxime Raynaud. Can never have too many bigs that can pass.

Maxime Raynaud is doing the same mistake that Bilal Coulibaly did by not waiting until after joining the Celtics to play good basketball

Keeping track of Big Z. He also has a slightly shorter 7-foot brother at Illinois.

The Celtics could actually draft the two of them... which would be pretty cool.

Eh, I could see maybe drafting 1 of the Ivisic twins but seems a bit redundant to draft both of them..

Yep…Cs need to shave a few games and try to get a pick in the low 20s…

Tankathon first update with BOTH rounds mocked. Tankathon not currently reflecting that Cs will have the higher of WAS/DET 2nd round, currently #32.

Yeah, I don't know why that is. RealGM has them getting getting the most favorable of GS, Was, Det or Dal. :dontknow:

We DO have that pick, it’s just that Tankathon doesn’t know the Cs have the pick. Tankathon always misses one or two trades like this. Someone will email them with the error and they’ll have it fixed soon enough

What do you all think the chances we stay and make both picks are? I'd say around 22.3%.

I'd think most likely is trade the first, draft the 2nd: 68.4%
Stay and draft both: 22.3%
Combine picks and trade up: 7.8%.
Other teams give up due to Cs dominance and the league folds: 1.2%
Draft the first and trade the 2nd for 6 future seconds: 0.3%

lol… I dunno. I’m just rooting for us to win out and Was to lose out, lol. Looks like a decent chance we pick 30+31.

If Brad wants to make two picks, which would be fun, imo. we haven’t rostered two rookies on the 15 man roster since Payton and Nesmith

Here's an article I wrote, making the case for someone other than Cooper Flagg to be the no. 1 pick:

Ryan Kalkabrenner (lazy spelling) out of Creighton.
Big and some skills. What do we think. Might be one two many Creighton guys.
Jordan Walsh > Lonnie Walker and Charles Bassey

Return to Boston Celtics
