Let's say you isolate the C position from the rest of the roster. If those guys play those minutes per game, then you still have 17 minutes per game to fill on the perimeter (PG/SG/SF/PF). And that guy would be called on to play more when one/multiple of those guys are missing.

We have a 20+ minute per game role to offer someone in the regular season if there's a good fit. And Pritchard doesn't have an iron grip on his playoff rotation spot either with his size also being an issue in certain matchups.

They could definitely opt against signing anyone and just rotate Scheierman/Walsh/Springer/2-way guys through the remaining minutes, but they should also be open to signing a vet if the right guy is willing to sign for the minimum.

Last season Tatum said he will prioritize winning a championship over individual awards.

He also said when he gets a championship, he will start going after the individual awards.

So expect Tatum to play a lot and score a lot.

Tatum needs that MVP to further enhance his brand.

Maybe. But that was also before he actually did those things and saw how well it worked as the team won 64 games, historic numbers in terms of offense and efficiency, and went 16-3 in the playoffs despite no KP for most of it. I could easily see him playing this way forward because it worked.

In an ideal world that should be the case.

But JT is all about checking the boxes.

He keeps talking about how he wants to be an all-time great.

Only way to reach that status is to have a regular season MVP trophy.

It's just something that JT needs for his brand.

The guy that sticks out that might be meaningful in that category is Kyle Anderson. Seems like a bit of a sticky personality so not sure about the fit, but between the player and the team that could be one guy that could slide into the ring chaser vibe.

Kyle Anderson was part of the rotation in Minny.

I doubt he wants to play behind Sam Hauser in Boston.

We just have to wait and see. You had 20+ posts in the draft thread that the Celtics won't be using the 30th pick......

I think Oshae's situation was he just couldn't shoot good enough to where Joe and the nerds could trust him to get meaningful minutes. Majority of the main rotation was taking almost 5 three's a game and hitting over 35%.

Give the kid Peterson a shot.

If Peterson gets a shot then that means no vet minimum signing.

That's what I'm saying, just give the guys we have now a shot.

No need for external help.

Time to let guys like Springer and Walsh get a shot.

They all will get a good shot but what are you going to do if they all fail? Celtics have no flexibility. Off-season is the time to add players.

Agreed. If a new signing doesn't work you still have Peterson as a fallback. If Peterson doesn't work (and it's no guarantee or history showing it will work) and you sign nobody now then you have no options to go to in season. We can't sign any of the good buyout options, we can't aggregate player trade, we don't have any good contracts to trade even 1 for 1, and nobody is going to want to give us their good value players for Springer or Pritchard when we're the biggest threat in the league.
