Re: Trade Ideas Thread
Why in the world would we want to trade a 30 year old Kemba Walker who just finished his first year with us, and helped us get to the ECF, for a 35 year old Chris Paul ? The ONLY advantage I see is a one year shorter contract but it's 7-8 million a year more for a 5 year older player. his last your is 44 million bucks. This is insanity.

It doesn't work that way. Even with Hayward off the books, we'd still be over the cap. Between our top 4 guys alone, we'd have $108M in salary.
We're not expected to have cap space for the foreseeable future. Earliest could be 2023 if none of Hayward, Kemba, and Smart are re-signed.
this is another reason why i dont think Danny would care if he traded Kemba. Perception, who cares because we would not have capspace to sign anyone for 5 or 6 years outside of MLE level talent at best/

really far fetched? Should we try add a little value somewhere? Does GSW like that? Are we adding too much picks and value for just Paul and his horrible contract?
I'm sorry dude, but this is so bad. Kemba, Smart, 14 and 30 for Chris Paul and you want to add more value. ???!!!! Why don't we just throw in Tatum to make sure the deal goes through. SMH !!!!

Wow. That is a cluster bomb of a Trade.
We wouldn't even dream of doing this.

And that’s exactly why if they don’t expect to resign Gordo they need to move him.

Straight up, optics aside, I would almost gamble on cp3 for kemba straight up. Otherwise, hell no. Not to mention, okc are getting kemba and #2 for cp3, they make out like bandits

Do you guys think there’s any chance of a Kemba package that doesn’t include the jays , Hayward or smart for Paul George? Picks, etc? Please go easy. Ha

It would be professional suicide for the Celtics to trade Kemba, this early in his tenure.

I wish this stuff could be explained more on the radio or tv. There’s just not enough interest I guess but it’s such a huge part of nba. I would never begin to say I understand most things about the cap. I put things in the trade checker and see how many years a guy got and who’s got an option. That’s about it. It’s really not about not knowing the game either. But the best place to go for info is message boards like this, I swear.

I respect that opinion but damn, he would be playing with Kawhi. He’s still be in a contender. If it wasn’t bad optics do you think the trade would be possible?

The salaries match up. But why would the Clippers do that, though?
I guess it's a possibility in a season or so.

Honestly, i would prefer to dump hayward for PG. But that isn't realistic. And I feel like the clips wouldn't like kemba, they just got booted cos Denver targeted lou Williams on every play. Opponents will do the same thing to kemba

Do we as a board still have any interest in WCJ? He hasnt developed the way i expected, but maybe that makes him cheaper to grab. Anyway way we get him without involving brown, tatum, smart or kemba?

I kinda like trying to get Buddy Heild. I'm not good with trade mechanics but him replacing Hayward's minutes as a 30mpg player looks juicy.

Come on playa...u come at me hard but u don’t know the rules. We are over the cap- we aren’t getting cap space of any significance if Hayward leaves.....that’s the whole point of people bring up trade using his salary.

No they didn't and they just confirmed it. Nunn missed the start of the bubble due to catching Covid.. But none of that is my point.. Give young guys minutes and often or they won't develop.. plain and simple!!
I think it's more Ainge's drafting outside of the top 6 that's the issue than Stevens' ability to develop young guys (although this could improve too). I can't even name four guys we've drafted outside of the top 6 from 2013 to 2018 that's still in the league. Nader? Rozier? KO? Those last two we developed well and had pivotal roles in our ECF runs before their rookie contracts were up.

I agree and I feel you. But but but, it's pretty tough to land a dude mid to late 1st round, 2nd round, and them be a solid piece for a long time. We just happen to be surrounded by a bunch this post season (OG, pascal, FVV, Duncan, Tyler was selected 1 pick above langford, who was too busy injuring his hand for the 12th time. And bam.). That's crazy of you think about it. That's just good selection on their party.
Ainge needs to get this done. Hit on something for christ sake. Enough with the bs for once. I get it it's tough but you're right let's do it. I get it, grant Williams can carve out a career. But there's a huge difference btwn that and pascal. Huge difference.
Hit it once, and then that that's the pressure off these big trades, MLEs, etc.
This is 100% ainge's weakness, and there will be tons of people disagreeing.

Don't shoot the messenger. That was based on your former coach's rumor. George Karl said Nuggets could be willing to part with MPJ to pair Jrue with Murray.
