The Heats main players, aside from JB, have all been drafted (not high picks either) or have been diamond-in-the-rough signings. Duncan Robinson went undrafted! Heat signed him to the G league. Same with Nunn. Bam, Duncan, Herro, Nunn.

Then there's Danny. Almost 20 years as GM and only a single all star to his name until Tatum showed up. And no one from these past drafts aside from Grant looking like he has potential to sign in the future as a solid bench piece. I'll give Theis some love, too. He nailed the Fultz trade, he nailed the Jaylen pick. But with all the picks this team has had over the years, it is depressing to see only two have really panned out thus far and look to be future starters, and you've got MAYBE two in Theis/Grant who will stick around as solid rpers.

BOS have only Kemba, Hayward and Kanter as players not originally drafted or signed with BOS as UDFA. Kemba was a player acquired by trading for Rozier, a player Ainge drafted.
MIA have Jimmy, Dragic, Crowder, Iguodala, Olynik, Hill, Jones Jr., Leonard as players not originally drafted or signed with them as UDFA.
Heat have way more players who are not home-grown. In fact they have two guys in the rotation who became NBA starters in Boston. What an awful take.

Better the Heat than the Lakers. Wouldn’t want drama Queen getting his 4th as well. You gotta love Jimmy Buckets! Played almost the entire game, and willing his team to victory, by sinking all those crucial free throws and mid range jumpers. I liked his no nonsense attitude, no show boating and all hard work grind it out superstar mentality. I hope Tatum and Brown develop that mental toughness one day.

Good win for the Heat. I like how they fight.

Btw, we would probably struggle against the LAL on the boards, which would be our biggest disadvantage, but outside of that their perimeter guys ain't ****. We would've smashed them on the perimeter, Pope, Green and Rondo ain't stopping Brown, Tatum and a healthy Hayward. Blah, all "what if's".
Good assessment:

Jimmy Butler is averaging 30/10/9/3 on a 67% TS in the finals, god damn. A series like this shows why the Jaylen/Butler comparison is odd, Jaylen likely won’t ever be the shot creator or playmaker that JImmy is. Just a completely different type of player.

But if Jaylen ever does get to that level? Watch the **** out.

Yeah Jaylen is definitely different than Jimmy. He reminds me more of a way better version of Josh Howard of the Mavs (before Howard declined, I mean more when Howard was in his prime).

I think he can. Got a lot of faith in that dude. Already a WAY different player than he was when he first got drafted. Testament to his work ethic.

So we are trying to win a championship with prime Rudy Gay and prime Josh Howard ?

Ya'll gotta chill on Jimmy x Jaylen.

Jimmy is 31 years old. This is the first time he gets to this level. Jaylen just played him and more than held his own. Stop putting a limit on JB.

I think he will settle in that top 25ish area, which is a really good player. IMO, it’s unfair to compare him to guys like Butler and Kawhi, they are legit top 5 and 10 players.

I wouldn’t bet against Jaylen being good enough to be the second best player on a legit title team. But a franchise player? I think that’s a longshot. And it’s not a knock of him at all, being a top 5-10 player is REALLY hard.

His numbers per minute in the postseason aren't far off from where they were last year (when he led an otherwise overhyped Sixers team and almost knocked off the Raptors) and they also aren't far off from his career playoff averages. And his numbers have never told the story - his game has always been about defense, leadership and intangibles.

He's a perenially underrated player, and in a few months I feel like a chunk of people on this board will be back to viewing him as a glorified role player (and malcontent) who merely has his moments.

I agree. Jaylen and Jimmy have similar stats actually. Almost the same stats on their 3rd and 4th season. Both are elite 2 way players. I think if Jaylen can continue to improve, he can be as good, or even better than Jimmy. Remember last off season, all the negative comments on Jayson, and he turned a corner in the 2nd half of the season? I think Jaylen can definitely take a leap next season. I just hope that Stevens give him every opportunity to develop into a star. That Kemba and Jayson ISO won’t do our team any good. Plus Jaylen is one of those in the league, that have the ability to dribble and attack inside. Can attack the rim, and also pull up those mid range, and take the 3 in transition as well. I like our future with Jayson and Jaylen.

i think you will be sorely disappointed, our guys are super proud to be competing at this stage and gaining experience, everybody knows we overachieved a lot. If the lose the series, they will just come back and fight even harder next season, they will be ready not heartbroken. On another note, you guys are nuts if you want to get rid of your coach, he is pretty good, you lost the series because the problem Bam caused with your centers, not even Kemba being a bad defender, we have three horrible defenders in our perimeter ( Herro, Drob and Nunn) and we are competing against the mighty lakers. If we had more size this series could have been over in favor of the heat, that will be our demise if there is one.
