fishdoctor wrote:Please forgive me for my potential ignorance here (I've lurked on REALGM for many years, but have not posted anything is a VERY long time) . . . what about a trade with ATL revolving around Brown and Brogdan for Young and Collins as centerpieces? I'm sure what'd have to sweeten the pot a bit to make it work, but . . .
A. Brown might sign long term with ATL, being his home town and all
B. Brogdan has demonstrated his value post-injury and would be a solid replacement at the Point for ATL
C. ATL had been rumored to be agressively shopping Collins at the deadline.
D. Boston needs a closer with ice in his veins - Trae Young fits that mold and is still very young with lots of room to grow.
E. Collins would be a solid replacement for old man Horford. As much as I love Al, he's not the player he once was.

Someone else said it somewhere else but getting another smallest point guard. Who can't play defense like Kemba Walker? Or isaiah thomas is probably not in my eyes what I would want for a J Brown..

That and our defense needs an upgrade... But Trae young would solve some of the scoring issues we have...
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

I am serious.

If not that trade, next year's pick for Steve Kerr.

Come on Cave, he's not going to be available.
You really think GS would trade him?
I'm all for it, even at the cost of Jaylen... and they're more than welcome to Smart too, multiple Firsts, etc...
And San Fran is a perfect match, activism wise for Jaylen.
Well, it would be a fun Off Season.

Let's revisit after Myers walks and Dray and Klay don't get the max extensions they feel they are entitled to.

He can shoot the 3 somewhat, rebound, run the floor, and block shots. I think he would be a good running mate with Tatum, Brown, Williams and White as starters.

Brown, horford, muscala chris boucher to atlanta

Collins, brogdon to toronto

Siakam, trae young, okongwu to boston

Trae/pritch
Smart/white
Tatum
Siakam/gallo
Timelord/okongwu

Playmaking goes way up.

Siakam should improve his three pt percentage playing off trae and tatum.

Offense should be lethal, defense will be fine.

Myers apparently has a huge offer from Phoenix, and maybe the Clippers as well. He may not even want to be a GM next year and just do media stuff, or even go private sector.

We can add Kerr or Curry, but not both, at least not this summer. Similar to how we traded Doc to the Clippers but were then prevented from sending KG and Pierce there for a year.

HOU gives: #20
HOU gets: G Marcus Smart

POR gives: #3, G Anfernee Simons
POR gets: G/F Jaylen Brown

TOR gives: F Pascal Siakam
TOR gets: #3, G Payton Pritchard, F Danillo Galinari, C Luke Kornet

BOS gives: G/F Jaylen Brown, G Marcus Smart, G Payton Pritchard, F Danillo Galinari, C Luke Kornet
BOS gets: F Pascal Siakam, G Anfernee Simons

Re-sign Grant Williams...

White / Brogdon
Simons
Tatum / Hauser
Siakam / GWilliams
RWilliams / Horford

I think this lineup would reshape how we play offense. Siakam is a lower usage guy who attacks in different areas compared to Brown. A little more diversification than we have now. Simons has been playing off of Dame so he brings someone who can score at good volume playing off the ball so adds some familiarity in that role. Brogdon/Horford/Grant/Hauser is good benhc shooting and some playmaking out of Brogdon and Horford in the front court.

Bring in a strong defensive head coach with a good lead offensive assistant (or vice versa).

In this case I’d prefer to add Kerr straight away

I'm coming around to the idea of keeping Scoot. We need an explosive playmaker to pair with Tatum.
Send Simons elsewhere for vets that can help next year (DET for some combo of Bojan/Burks/Stew?)
Trade Brogdon or White - deal tbd....

It might not work next season, but the ceiling is way higher than bringing in a Siakam type. That doesn't necessarily get us over the hump either.

Desmond Bane would fit really well on this team

Not sure JB would want to go to Memphis but it would be a great situation for each player. Memphis would need to add though and would need salary filler

Don’t think a) Dallas trades 10 for Smart, b) we can accept Wood in S&T do to hard cap / new rules.
But I like the thinking.

Atlanta fans always try to sell Collins that he’s not good because playing next to a rim running center like Capela has turned him into a perimeter big offensively which he’s not at good at and swear he could get back near 20 ppg next to a stretch 5. So if we take that for what it’s worth, I think Collins would fit better next to Horford than Rob.

Ultimately I just think he makes too much money. Like I think he’s a good player but what is he really, really good at? End of the day he’s a role player on a good team and I don’t think he’s good enough at any 1 thing to ever be a “star in your role” type of player.

Celts17Pride wrote:First thing I would do is try to convince the Suns on a trade built around Rob Williams, Brogdon for Deandre Ayton. The very next thing is try to bring in a true point guard. That doesn't mean Smart has to go, it just means he is coming off the bench.

Ayton is 24 years old, time to go after him while his stock is down.

Then he has to go. No way Smart is taking a banishment to the bench. He asks out immediately. Don't have any problem with the Ayton idea. That kid needs a change of scenery. If Brown were to ask out and forego the SuperMax, Simons, Little and #3 for Brown wouldn't be a bad idea. That resets the window a little and gives Tatum a little more runway while providing the team with a clear, unquestioned hierarchy.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

Love this time of the year when we come up with our best trades that have no chance of happening

All of these trades are absolutely horrible. Best decision is to stay put. We have a the best roster in the league. Let's get a competent coach.
Brogodon was hunted by Harde, Embiid and Butler through 2 series and you guys want to trade for freaking Trade Young and Anfernee Simmons?

I have no doubt this roster wins the ring with Udoka. Let's run it back one more year, it's still not the time to get crazy.
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

Some ideas:
Smart for John Collins
Smart + Grant for Jose Alvarado (the value in this one is iffy)
Smart + picks for TJ McConnell and Jalen Smith
Smart + PP + picks for Monte Morris, D. Wright and Gafford
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.
