Tatum's 2+ years younger, hopefully healthier, and hopefully a Celtic for life or close to it. Giannis is the only guy I think about putting him on the table for. I don't think Denver ever trades Jokic (why would they?), and I don't like Embiid or Luka enough to want to trade even JB+ for them.
But Tatum for Giannis? I personally wouldn't have the balls to do it, but I would think about it. I think Tatum *might* have a better future than Giannis, straight up, mostly regardless of context. But swap them in the 2022 Finals and the Celtics already have banner #18.
Hopefully the as-built Boston Celtics start winning titles this season, so all of this is moot. But with Brogdon's $$ needing to be moved before next July 1, I'd expect our trade threads to stay viable.
Footnote: the $$ don't add up, but trade JB and Kristaps for Giannis any time and every time.
Yeah, It would be Brown and TImelord for Giannis honestly.
White/Pritchard
?? (Ideally Walsh or Hauser fill this spot)
Tatum
Giannis
Porzingis/Horford
Easy title team.
I think we have to wait until the next offseason to trade Jaylen, at which point we won't need to add any salary.

Who can the Celtics legitimately trade at the moment to bring back another Star?
Tatum - Brown - Porzingis aren't going anywhere.
I can't see them trading Horford.
That leaves White - Williams - Brogdon - Pritchard - Walsh - Many Draft Choices who could be moved.
Adam Jones on WEEI mentioned a couple of times today, that Brogdon could be traded.
It’ll be next summer, I’d assume.
There’s a chance that Giannis, Luka, and Embiid could ask out by then. Probably not all three, but one or two, for sure. If that’s the case, everyone but Tatum would be up for grabs.

Yes we’re quite sure.
Forget about the reasons the FO wouldn’t do it, but Tatum is up for biggest extension in nba history after the season. He’d lose that if traded, and would just tell Milwaukee no way he extends there.

Wow- isn't there an expansion team in there somewhere? Maybe not. This it shows how much talent is already in the NBA, inclusive of US-born and foreign players.
Tacko Fall with the Monkey Kings. Nanjing is going to love him!
Can't blame these guys at all for turning down a minimum contract in the NBA (assuming they were offered), maybe unguaranteed and only for a year, to play in a great overseas city where you get treated well, paid better, and real playing time.
The 'best' guys there are pretty bad! I'd wager the vast majority of those guys weren't even close to getting offered a vet min deal in the NBA. I mean, sure Olek Balcerowski was a "free agent", but it's not like he's looking at an NBA future and turned it down. Despite multiple posters saying he was better than Luke Kornet for averaging 8 and 4 on our **** summer league team.
Summer League doesn't really matter that much. Between last season playing in Europe as well as the FIBA competitions where he has represented Poland, he has certainly proven himself as a guy with the potential to play in the NBA.
I'm sure he could have probably gotten a roster spot with us. And there's a few teams where he would have had a chance to get more playing time (Portland, Phoenix, Chicago, maybe New Orleans or Orlando..) but like many of the guys playing overseas, they play over there (not necessarily because they're not good enough to make an NBA roster) but because they'd rather start and get 25 MPG instead of being a 3rd stringer getting only like 12 MPG in the NBA, while making more $ overseas too.
Also, Balcerowski still had another year left on the contract with the European team he played for last season, so his new team had to pay that in order to acquire him. They were willing to pay the buyout fee to get themself a starting center. But an NBA team was probably not gonna pay that buyout fee for a guy on a minimum contract who would be a 3rd stringer..

As far as I know there is not any evidence that Balcerowski was close to getting offered a vet min deal, and turned it down. We'll have to see if he ever plays in the NBA.

I could be wrong, but I don't think we can trade for Theis, since the team trading him to us is the same team we just traded him away to. I think he needs to go to a 3rd team first before we can reacquire him.
Also, I don't see why Indiana would do this..I mean I guess you could maybe argue that going from Theis to Batum is an upgrade but I think that's debatable - even if it's a really small upgrade, why bother doing it if your Indy? Especially since Theis still has more years left on his deal and Batum is retiring at the end of the season, so Theis (I would think) has more value than Batum - plus Theis is younger.

Really thought we were bringing Stevens in.

Makes too much sense. Brogdon is better defensively than Hield, but not by much. Hield isn’t going to over dribble, and a truly elite movement shooter would add another element to the offense.

Makes sense for Boston but not for Indy.
They already have Haliburton, Nembhard and McConnell. Which is why they traded Brogdon in the first place. They're not gonna want that contract with 2 more yrs on it for Brogdon.
Perhaps a 3 team deal..
