Knicks feels like the 2020 Celtics.
Their best 5 will be:
Brunson
Bridges
DiVincenzo
Anunoby
Randle
Small ball team.
Hart and Robinson will be on the bench in crunch time.

I think Brad is still gonna trade for a big wing/big with the Springer or PP contract. Sign Tillman and adding a vet ring chaser for some scoring off the bench.

They killed hugepats dream. On to the next.
I still wouldn't discount Hayward returning. Unsure if that's a good thing or bad lol.
Would not shock me if Hayward retires. I have not read one thing about any team having interest in him.
The way I see it, he will sign for the minimum on a contender and retire next summer. I don't know if it will be us, but I am certain Brad has spoken to him for sure.

Maybe, or Detroit is lining up a 4/100 million deal for him.

Hmm kind of see the fit with Tillman in NY, in terms of them pivoting for another front court guy.
Bring back X, I'd say.

OKC is rock solid. That's a great defensive line up. Caruso is a top defender. They'll be favorites in the weakened West. They also have those future picks.
New York's flame is burning a bit less brightly than it was a few hours ago. The Knicks like the Celtics, are center shopping still.
Giannis, Jokic, and Butler/Bam are not being helped so far.

I don't see PP going this year, but yeah, Springer will immediately be the most expendable guy on the roster. The C's can't combine contracts, however, so I don't think there'd likely be other than a possible minor tweak at the deadline. No vet ring chaser needed unless they can't get Tillman back, IMO.

It’s getting tough for Celtics! We need to go over the luxury tax and f*** the cab ruling! We can’t have useless bum Baynes type of players!

Eubanks shot 100% from 3 last year. Tillman ain't matching that.
Okay, he went 3 for 3, but he's still a career 38% from the arc. But he also gets you 10 boards per 36 and has a career .646 TS%. He's a proven, durable, and versatile young big.

If Tillman was willing to take the "Queta deal" you figure it would be done by now. Doubt the Celtics offer much more.

Re: Free Agent, Trade & Extensions Thread, 2024-25
One key point on Tillman... unless this changed in the new CBA, we'd still have his bird rights next year if even if he re-signed for the minimum here. If he leaves for a 1 year deal anywhere else, his new team won't have that. That limits what they would be able to pay him. If he can't get a big raise and/or multi year deal at good money now, his best chance to get that next year would be if he re-signed here as opposed to somewhere else.
Unless he gets a big raise and/or a real multi year guarantee to go somewhere else, it probably makes the most sense to come back. With Porzingis out to start the year and Horford resting so much, he probably has a nightly 20+ minute role here. He was at 20.6 minutes per game (would have been career high) with Memphis last year before being traded here which brought his season total down to 18.0 minutes/game. If he can beat out Kornet and/or Queta, he'd probably be able to match or set a new career high in minutes/game here. And it'd be on a team where his role can very much be tailored to his strengths to make him look good.
I'm not sure there's a team out there that'ss going to offer him great money on a 1 year deal or a multi year commitment at good money. And yeah he'd have to compete with Kornet and Queta here, but that's not exactly murderer's row.

It'll also come down to his role. He knows that the C's have a hole to fill with KP out so he can get minutes during that time. Where as NY, Orlando, even Philly will have minutes for him. He still has to produce for his next contract and he's gonna need minutes.

Free agency is musical chairs. At the end there's always someone who didn't get big money and takes less than they wanted.
Maybe that will be Tillman. There are other center still looking for homes too.
Anyone have a list of what big men are still unsigned?

At this point, I'm thinking we try and get a team friendly deal worked out with Tillman. If not, we pivot to Theis for the min as a backup plan.
The FA signings are happening fast and furiously. Tillman and Theis are 2 of the only guys still available.. (besides just random guys who nobody really wants..)
I'm still in favor of trading KP (for reasons mentioned earlier) but realize it might not be very realistic..perhaps it happens next summer if the injuries continue to hamper him. But if that happens, his trade value will be even lower than it is now..
Meanwhile, Watson could end up turning some heads in SL and making people think he can be a Tillman replacement. But SL doesn't start for another 11 days and Brad likely will want to add a big (either Tillman or some FA guy like Theis) before then..

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Kornet was also 100%.
