But even with history not on Brown’s side, the Celtics have extended the 6-foot-7 swingman an offer of four years and $80 million, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

But Brown believes in his ability to one day be a star and is pursuing a bigger offer, sources said. Next season the Celtics will have another major decision: figuring out if Jayson Tatum is worth the rookie-scale max.

Should the 22-year-old Brown go the restricted free-agency route, he could end up being one of the top players on the market in July. Whatever he decides to do, he seems content and at peace.

4/80 is low but that's a good starting offer. if he wants to stay i think he can get 4/100 from ainge.

Celts are hoping to get him locked up on a below market deal... as they should. Brown will likely decline and wait for RFA.... as he should.

Right. It's early and JB has hired an agent. We'll see, but I wouldn't be shocked to see him offered 4/90. No reason to go to 4/100 now.

The GB is the worst I've ever seen it, and some of our fans certainly aren't helping.

4/80 is fair - tough, but fair - maybe undervalues his drive and work ethic, but 20 million a year for his stats and performance up to now? That’s a generous upside bonus.

Limited minutes are a consideration, but on stats alone he’d be glad to get Will Barton money, 4/52..

If they counter 4/90 with incentives, I’d do it.. probably even 4/100 or 5/112..

Is there any way we package some of this talent/picks for a decent C? I think it’s a must seeing as our 3 biggest rivals in the East all have quality big men.

I think Drummond could be had.

But with a proper pf I firmly believe the center problem is not really a problem.

I mean if we still had Horford we all would be excited about the center we have to allow him to be a pf.

We need a floor spacing defensive pf. Griffin, gordon, young, Portis, wood, maker, slot of guys out there in varying skill and pricetag. Those are the targets.

I would actually wonder about a Hayward to Detroit, Drummond to team x, something to Boston deal. But Drummond doesn’t space the floor, is mediocre at best from the line, and he’s a risk to age badly.

Happy birthday to Robert Williams III (22) and Vincent Poirier (26)! Hope Bobby's noggin is doing alright and no longer experiencing concussion symptoms. Go destroy the league starting next week!

I'm not naming any names but has one of our fans got a handle synonymous with "Miniscule testicle"?

Phew. For a while there, I was beginning to worry this year's Celtics would cruise their way into the NBA title. ADVERSITY!

Beal’s off the market, we’re looking to sign Jaylen to an extension if we can, Hield and Sabonis can still be traded, if we move a wing it’ll be Hayward..

1. Would Danny swerve and do something like Langford for Hield? The Kings save money and take on a project, we let Hield play out the year, monitor trade scenarios and ink him in the summer if he isn’t dealt?

2. Goga Bitadze had a nice preseason game - his offense, at least, seems as advertised. Hope he’s not another player we regret passing up. Supposedly Indiana is going to play him as the backup center, Sabonis is the starting power forward, but he’s had some ugly offensive nights in that role so far, taking more threes than Turner, which seems like the opposite of what he should be doing. No idea what Indiana would look for in a trade..

3. If we’re keeping Jaylen, the new question may be whether to deal Hayward, Langford, or both.. Orlando has been mentioned as a destination before - Miami and Detroit make sense, too - but it sounds like they’re both waiting on Lowry - who could be an interesting target for the Magic, too..

I don’t think the Celtics are in any rush to trade Hayward at all, I actually think for the team to maximize its potential they need Hayward to be close to Utah form and I expect him to be really good. I’m sure brad wants a chance to coach him at close to full health- after recruiting him so hard to sign here.

Don’t see Hayward going anywhere anytime soon regardless of what was said this summer, things change and the landscape of the Celtics and the league changed immensely. Hell last weeks news is irrelevant let alone something from the summer.

We just might finish this thread before the offseason ends! Didn't think we'd be able to.

So alternate reality time: can you imagine if we resigned Kyrie to a 5 year max? Would that have been like $200M?

Haven't seen many offensive weapons like him but dear goodness I'm not sad about not reading his quotes until 2025.

There's a good post in the Around the NBA thread, posted by 3D Chess. I thought he was just imitating Kyrie and typed up a bunch of jibberish to mock him. Well....it turns out that the stuff he posted is very real. That dude (Kyrie, not 3D Chess) keeps getting weirder and weirder.

What does that matter to me? Somebody who was – I don’t have a private life when I’m out there in the RealGM forums. Somebody want to take a video and, I mean, it is what it is. Pour water on it? I’m a human being talking to another best friend of mine. Like, it’s just crazy. This is the stuff that just doesn’t make the forums fun. Like, it doesn’t make the forums fun. Nobody helps promote the league even more by doing bull like that. Of just fictitious putting things on what we’re talking about. It’s just, it’s crazy. I guess that’s what you wanted, huh?

Is the internet real for you in your life? It’s my life, right? It’s two people talking, having a conversation. If this was the real world would it be anybody else’s business? But it’s a video of somebody assuming what we’re talking about, right? Making an opinion about it. So why would I care about it? Why does that have an impact on my life? Why are you asking me those types of questions? About cooling it off? For what? I don’t get it.

People seem to think they'd be doing JB and JT a favor by getting Hayward shipped out of here. But GH has skills they don't at least yet really have and they would both be better off on a good team (such as with Hayward) than on a bad team (without enough ball handling to more or less replace Horford on O and to also help compensate for the poor D of Kemba and Enes).

E.g., they are both more likely to make it to the AS game if the C's are at least among the top 2 teams in the East.
