With the way Brad let Smart endlessly chuck and kill momentum, it doesn't surprise me that Marcus had preferential treatment. Notice how Marcus was about the only guy who thanked Brad publicly?

Re: Trade Thread 2021-22: To Trade Or Trade Not
Lads can we focus on the trade aspect of this whole thing rather than the ‘keeping up with the kardashians’ the celtics version
We now have Tristan, Al, Brown, RW, GWill occupying the 4/5 space with Tatum occasionally playing the 4.
I’m feeling a trade is going to happen. Probably Tristan? Or perhaps packaging together RW and GW and salary ballast to get us a guard ?
The roster is not well balanced at this point of time with Smart, PP the only 2 capable point guards. Do we have the MLE ? Can we utilise any of the trade exceptions?
Just to clarify. Smart, Tristan, RW already move us close to 25m of tradeable salary. I think if theres any unhappy star out there we might be able to target them.

The Celtics now have 6 centers: Timelord, Moses Brown, Thompson, Horford, Kornet and Tacko.
I'm not worried about point guard. There's always a Jeff Teague around, plus Yom Madar waiting overseas. Madar looks very good in the clips that I've seen.
They need another 3 and D wing. Fournier gives you the 3 but not the D. Someone like RoCo would be perfect on this team.

Think Tristan for Kuz happens?
Cs get their 4 off the bench, and Bron gets his buddy back. Plus TT returns to LA, and the Lakers need a center, anyway.

I love Rob but Moses is bigger, cheaper, and younger, and I don't want the Celtics to start another season with 3-person rotation at the 5 ( TT-Theis-RW last year and Theis-Kanter-RW the year before). Moses and Al should be the centers with a clear 3rd stringer like Grant or Kornet. I think Rob can net a 1st rounder. Then you move TT to basically whoever shows even slight interest.

3 centers is fine... I like the Moses Brown acquisition but his best game was against us and he started the year on a two-way. A great cost controlled flyer... but let's pump the breaks on him needing to start, being better than Timelord, etc. Horford is in his mid 30s and RWIII plays half the games every year. Added to that is that Horford will likely be gone in a year...
Plenty of minutes for all 3 and I would even bring back Kornet as 15th man, injury insurance.

Would be an interesting move. Certainly couldn't hurt but I think LeBron would want more in return than just his buddy.

This Moses Brown pickup is bigger than posters are giving it. A legit 7'1 shot blocker, rim runner, rebounder is now in green and emerging as an impact player. Wait until you him next to RWill3. Moses will be our starting center this year.
Finally we got bigger. I’m sick of our bigs 6’8 and below and getting bullied down low.
Logged in to respond. Great thread. (now to kill it).
Love pickups so far. Yea we gotta alot of centers now. But do we consolidate the center spot and still get that PF. My take is that Tatum shouldn't have to be the PF which he played all the time after the 2 big experiment. I want a bigger big than Tatum on the floor but I'm not sure it's any of the 6 centers we have. I want to save Tatum from guarding the NBAs good PF. I want Tatum scoring 30+ not guarding PF. Parker and GWill don't get it done as starting PFs. Parker isn't strong enough and GWill isn't tall enough. Someone mentioned Harrell. This is the missing piece in my opinion and what we tried earlier in the year but didn't get it right. A big non center defender that can shoot WITH REPEAT WITH Tatum Jalen and Moses or another center on the floor. That can win you a title lads!

Re: Trade Thread 2021-22: To Trade Or Trade Not
Pritch will be getting stronger. The Israeli has size ands a playmaker, like the skinny kid on OKC but shorter. We have Nesmith and Remey but they are not vets. Fournier can't defend but he may be here to stay. Parker can play but I like him and GWill backing up a starting forward. We got to vet bigs in TT and AH. Title caliber backup centers. So what's missing bc I want Tatum and Brown scoring 30+ like E Baylor and J West (yes I said it]. Consolidate an upgrade the best you can THIS offseason. Pls for the fans. And you know what, it might not even start with Semi. We just can't have 7 Semis.

Tatum, J. Brown, Smart, Timelord. PP, Nesmith, Langford, Horford, M. Brown. I hope/expect us to resign Fournier.
That's 10 right there.
Out of the rest of the team to fill out the last 5 and the 2 two ways:
Parker - (less than 2.3 mil) should be picked up for his small salary (11th man)
G. Will - (2.617 mil) will be given a third year, but if he doesn't pick it up he will be gone at the deadline. (12th man)
Kornet -with the addition of M. Brown, Kornet will probably be allowed to walk, but may be kept on as insurance policy (13th man)
Semi -should be allowed to walk. Should have been let go last season
Edwards - (1.783 mil) experiment over, needs to be traded into a TPE somewhere so we can sign a vet wing (14th man)
Thompson - (9.721 mil) needs to be traded to bring in a decent vet PG, SG or SF (15th man)
Waters - 2 way end the 6'0 and under experiment. Fill this slot with Madar our 6'3 PG from last year draft and stash
Fall -2 way He may be kept on another year if Kornet is allowed to leave. If Kornet is resigned, then out pick 45 goes here.
You can't bring all those guys back and expect a different result than this year. Out of your bottom guys only Parker should be kept the rest can move on. Trade Langford for a good defensive bench guy. Trade Smart and Fournier in a deal for an upgrade at PG.
You can if you have a new coach and a recommitment to accountability. If you want to trade Smart, I could be talked into it depending on the guy coming in because I'm not the biggest Smart fan out there. However, If Smart knows he is the starting PG from the beginning, under a new coach and style, you will see a difference. Just the simple fact that we won't be facing a 5 on 4 on the defensive side, trying to cover for a 6'0 point guard will be a major improvement. Teams just flat out picked out whomever Walker was guarding and run a pick and roll and it made the rest of the defense have to start swarming, which always leads to a breakdown. You can't have a switch everything style with a 6'0 defensive liability at PG.
As far as Langford goes, you don't trade a young player that has played in so few games due to injury. He wouldn't bring much in a trade right now, so why give up on him? I agree 1000% on Parker, and I would maybe keep Kornet or Fall, not both, but only for insurance reasons for Williams and Horford, and I have never been a fan of G. Will's game, but he does shoot the 3 pretty good, and that is the only reason I would consider keeping him. Notice I said that I would trade him by the deadline if he didn't improve.

This could be our starting center. Bigger than 6’8 Rob and is healthy. Horford can play his natural 4 position. If we play small ball and put Tatum at the 4, it would be fine as long as we have a legit 7footer at the middle.
Horford is bad at the 4 though. Philly showcased that. When they played him at the 5 he was good. When he played the 4 he was horrible.
My hope is they start Horford/Williams at the 5/4.
Offensively would be great but defensively would give up a ton a open shots.

Re: Trade Thread 2021-22: To Trade Or Trade Not
I wonder if GS would be willing to trade their 14th pick for Smart (fits into Cap space if they don't resign Kelly Obre. They want to make a title run with Steph. Meanwhile Boston can get a young talent like Josh Giddey (my first choice if available) while also considering J Butler. 2 good size younger talented PGs on a rookie contract with what I think is a better fit with the Js, while still having tradeable talents for the summer of 2022/23 I think Smart may get more from someone if we let him go into FA next summer.

Josh Giddey is 3-4 years away from being an average NBA player. Don’t get the hype

Langford is a bum. The only reason people are still high on him is because of where he was picked. Smart is a shoot first guard that relies on volume

I love Harrell’s defensive intensity, but the guy can’t shoot. We need a bunch of shooters plus a defensive center to win in this league. Harrell is a good bench player at this point.

I agree. I don’t like Langford’s offense. He plays slow for a guard and can’t shoot consistently if at all. His handles are average at best. Nesmith is way way better than Langford offensively, and defensively is probably better because he can be physical and strong.

Not sure what else LA would want but if they're open to negotiating, its no brainer imo
