I said to myself a few weeks back. Whomever is first to announce the extension of J Brown should receive a lifetime ban. Congrats. You win !

With how toxic this chat has been you might be doing them a favor!

As as always make first team , probably make the finals . Still this crazy contract .

When FVV makes 44 mil now its what the price is going to be.
Be ready for this new NBA salary that will match and exceed Baseball contracts!

But then you got the 15% trade kicker so that last year salary would become 80M instead of 70M loll

Possibly but it could always be waved if it's a team he prefers to go to.

Also no, not how a trade kicker works. The salary+trade kicker total in any given year cannot exceed his max salary of 35% of the cap. By the last year of his deal 35% of the cap will likely be in the low to mid 70's so he'd get a bump but not THAT much of a bump.

Fully guaranteed with a trade kicker? We're ****. I'm out on Brad. This and the Mazulla hire are too much.

You joke, but if Luka qualified for the supermax it will be starting in the 26-27 season. The cap could be as high as 181 million by then assuming 10% year over year increases. Luka's first year salary at 35% would be about 63.4 million. His final year salary would be about 83 million. Of course if he gets traded that's all moot.

Ya on the other hand if he didn't get it he almost 100% for sure wasn't re-signing this offseason, because he'd be leaving money on the table due to extension rules. And then the c's would either have had to play next year under the cloud of his contract situation or trade him now for 50 cents on the dollar as an expiring.

Between those two possibilities I'd take this one.

Trade apron constraints are overrated except for being unable to aggregate outgoing salaries.

The thing that scares me the most about locking down Brown long-term is not even his ability as a basketball player. I think there is something wrong with his knees. He looks gimpy and has for a while now.

There will be no incentives to this btw; you can’t put any in a supermax contract. It’s a full 35% max contract for 5 years. Which will be somewhere between 290-304 depending on the cap. Trade kicker only brings his contract up to 35% max if cap raises more than his contract. For example 35% of the cap in 26-27 will be roughly 62 mil. Jaylen might make 59 that year so the trade kicker just bridges those 3 mil.

Least surprising news of the summer.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Correct.

Pay schedule part is interesting--I'm not even sure how that works lol. Is he getting his full salary by mid-season or something?

yeah once he got all-nba this was the only play we had. i just would have much rather seen him not make all nba and get a standard max. it is what it is.

Yes I don’t think he will get traded . The new blue print stay with your team until you qualify for super max then demand out

We all knew this was happening. The only thing I wanted to see was if he was getting a trade kicker or player option. I'm actually surprised he didn't get a player option. I'm at least happy about that part.

Brown is a really good player.. All star player. Am I happy we just made him the highest paid player in NBA history? No... But we had little choice. This year is gonna be super fun and brown is a big reason why we will have yet another realistic shot to win banner 18 this year. Congrats to him for securing the bag. I'm about to go celebrate!

That little worrying since he can become complacent and start to complain if he’s not getting the ball enough etc . He still needs to learn to use his left and he needs to improve for this deal really feel like it’s worth it
