Praying hard JB would be willing to downshift his self-creation/scoring and ballhandling role on offense and focus more on defense/rebounding. We just added Porzingis (can be our 2nd scorer) and Jrue (primary playmaker/another scoring option). White's role should be elevated too.

Especially since he have the money already. He doesn’t need to do much on offense since we are loaded with fire power. Agree, need for him to focus on guarding the oppposing teams best wings.

What if we signed a guy like Reggie Bullock and actually… started him over White or Horford?

Playoff rotation of:

PG: Holiday (35), White (13)
SG: Bullock (20), White (22), Brown (6)
SF: Brown (30), Hauser (18)
PF: Tatum (38), Horford (10)
C: Porzingis (32), Horford (16)

I feel like White might be super marginalized in the starting 5 and starting him with Jrue might create a rotation log jam where you need to play another PG type, and those guys can tend to be liabilities height wise. Bullock is still playing a minor role in the rotation here, but starting him allows you to go with another wing like Hauser here over a Pritchard type size liability.

I don’t know why people think Joe is going to go from saying White is the starting PG so emphatically, knowing the strained relationship with Brogs, to telling the guy he’ll be 6th/7th man. Nah.

I loved Rob, I hate to see him go but I think this was a no brainer. Jrue is so good, he's the reason the Giannis Bucks went from being pretenders to NBA Champs and perennial title contenders. He's not and will never be flashy as Smart on defense but he's at least as good defensively and much better offensively. I always had the belief that this team would win a title if they had Jrue over Smart, I guess we'll see if this theory was correct

Grant Williams TPE: The Celtics acquired a $6.2 million TPE along with a pair of second round picks as part of the deal for sending the big man to Dallas. While Williams would be nice to have at this point after dealing away Rob Williams, the team will have the option of trading draft assets for a player that fits into this salary slot of just over $6 million. A few intriguing names in that price range who may or may not be available.

Jalen Smith: $5 million
Nick Richards: $5 million
Mason Plumlee: $5 million (ineligible to be traded until December)
Precious Achiuwa: $4.3 million
Jalen Duran: $4.3 million
Dwight Powell: $4 million
Mark Williams: $3.9 million
Tari Eason: $3.5 million
Andre Drummond: $3.3 million
Xavier Tillman: $1.9 million

Of those, the only ones I see as possible are Plumlee, Achiuwa and Drummond. Keep in mind, Celtics at this point have very very little draft capital remaining.

I wouldn't mind a third helping of The Is, though.

With the Cs likely playing more single-big lineups, Jaylen would have to guard up a position more -- Siakam, Randle, Giannis, Mobley, Love, Gordon, Davis, Draymond, etc. -- whenever Horford/Porzingis sits or is out. I also expect Lamar and Brissett to figure into the rotation early and often because of this.
