It's officially the Fourth now. Time for KD to declare his independence from Westbrook!

Top level professional athletes, especially in the NBA, care immensely about their brand. They have entire ad agencies that deal with it. The guy has his own dynamic website just for himself. Also, there's no way in hell that Nike or UA wants two major players to risk one of them outshining the other, no way.

I hope it is not about his brand world wide and more about his US legacy....

In the US a good deal of negatives going to GSW but do we really think people in China/India/South America/Europe care if KD is joining GSW.

They probably want to see that freak show on offense, unfortunately. In the US much more of a mixed picture.

The Celtics (Bird), Lakers (Magic), Bulls (Jordan) and Rockets (Yao) are probably the most popular teams internationally. I do not have stats to back it up though. Just seems logical. GSW with Curry are obviously on their way though.

Ray Allen was not considered the 2nd/3rd best player in the league when he signed with the Heat. Heck, he was not even the best player of our team.

Imagine Kobe or Dirk joining the Spurs after losing to 'em.

It's been a long day, I'm just hoping tomorrow news will be favoring Boston. It would be so great to see KD playing for Celtics. Let's wait and see!

OKC and BOS are his only good answers. (what happened to SAS though?)

You would have to guess that it's not fun playing with Mr. Westbrook or Durant, for that matter, in that OKC system. If you watch their games they literally just take turns running iso when they're not in transition. With that being said, who's more likely to adjust their game to improve the team? Not gonna be Westbrook.

Just don't see him going to another West team. You are right though, haven't heard anything except it was one of the shorter meetings (2 hours I think). Maybe they're still in the mix.

I'm just hoping Durant says Boston so that the rest of the world outside New England can continue to hate Tom Brady.

KD signing with the Warriors would be like PP having signed with the Lakers in 2010.

Yup. OKC for continuity and hopefully stability if they convince Westbrook to stay.

Celtics if he wants to start over and have an immediate shot at contention.

GSW - Just gonna ride along with Curry and the rest.

It would be like Iverson signing with the Lakers in 2002.

It's not really as complicated as the desperation hot takes are going for. GS gives him the best chance to win. OKC is home, familiarity, a damn good team etc etc and that we're even this far in is pretty f'n special -addendum- even if he passes on us our swagonometry index just rocketed through the stratosphere in the last few days with the Al signing and make us the hot bitch in the room this season afaic. Any of the three is a solid choice. Right now he's weighing his legacy vs. who gives his prime years the best chance to win vs. whether he should be patient and run it back again with OKC. Tough call tbh but they're all good choices.

Don't underestimate how much this guy wants a title or what that foot injury did to his mentality either. Seeing your own mortality will change the way you look at things. Just saying GS isn't as dumb as people are making it out to be....but f*ck them.

so many boston salty hardos in this thread already being obtuse and dogmatic about fandom re: durant going to warriors.

good thing 99% of those posters doing that are posters that I never agree to begin wit. Gonna assume thats no coincidence.
